My favorite Springsteen album. With all due respect to Born to Run, it's still way to optimistic to me, and in the end there is still hope, even after the rat dies. However, Darkness is...well dark. It is more existential and more cynical and asks the question, what do you do with the hand you've been dealt with and when you realize your dreams won't come true. It's such a beautifully brooding album and I still love it to this day.

Ordinarily I'd think it was a bold, bold move for a girl to try this song since it is so clearly male. But then Serena is a lezzy, which unfortunately tends to turn her version into an unfunny dyke joke. It's like she wants to perpetuate all the bad old stereotypes. The simple fact that she is out makes it not so much of an artistic stretch for her to be singing about hot rods, street racing and how she "drove that little girl away." Too bad. But I like it.

its D, G, Em, G for the verses. the difference for the chorus is that the chorus opens with an A (I think..it does in Bruce's version, and she's been playing the same chords)

she plays these chords with a capo on, it looks like, seven, making this version in Key of A (assuming I'm correct on where she puts the capo). to play Bruce's version, its the same chords, capo three.

I see her use a C chord at one point during the musical interludes, but from what I can see from her hands that well
