  • Speed through the station for Acela trains is 130MPH. And MrZkr123, Their is no "cushion" where you are allowed 5 over the speed limit. The on board control systems will allow 2MPH over the speed limit at most which what the FRA allows. Often times, the computer will not even give you that.

  • 663 ft in total length for an acela express overall makes this 127 mph.

  • Make that 6 passenger cars...

  • Let's see...150 mph corresponds with 220 feet/s and the train travelled its own length in about four seconds (from 0:17 to 0:21). Is the train close to 880 feet long? It looks like 2 engines and 7 passenger cars, so that would require that each car be close to 100 feet long. That's a bit of a stretch; I would guess they are more like 80-85 feet. The train's probably going no more than 130 mph or so.

  • im sure there is a 5mph cushion like driving a car where the rule is u can go 5mph above the projected speed limit

  • thanks mate for the reply

  • is the train american

  • @r32guy1 It's built by a Canadian company (Bombardier), and is operated on an American railway (Amtrak).

  • @reaperexpress there isnt much built here in the us smh we dont have anything here

  • soon we can have the high speed trains speed up to 220 mph or faster like 297 mph

  • Fast. Not much to complain about. Thanks for the video!! Please remain behind yellow line, for Chrissakes!!

  • I'd give it 135mph

  • 125-135mph most likely

  • it would be cool if they did up the speeds here

  • Looked like 130 mph to me... Either way, if Amtrak spent more time working on areas of track like here in Canton JCT and Sharon station, then the Acela would be capable of doing 150 mph through here.

  • The Acela's 150mph zone is in Road Island only I believe. nice video though.

  • @Espee9180 they can go 150 in some parts of Mass. too.

  • @Espee9180 no mansfield,MA too

  • Looks like 135ish , can the curve handle that? Maybe Amtrak upgraded the speeds w/o anyone noticing.....
