  • Well, if an aircraft carrier can float, I don't see why the Pod couldn't.

  • @moron6123 well, most aircraft carriers don't have a big hole in the front.

  • @dang3race2 But, that hole isn't underwater.

  • @moron6123 that dosent, matter it would lean and sway and then the hole would be underwater

  • Thunderbird 2 can fly think about the Hercules aircraft it is heavy like TB2

It is big like TB2 and it carries frieght like thunderbird 2 and it flies and used by the army. International rescue use Thunderbird 2 for the same reason

Do not doubt Brains he is a genius and way aheade of his time! we once said record on dvd impossable but now look at what has happened!

  • The pod has specail bouyancy tanks to help it float and thunderbird 4 is a mini submarine (Scoutcraft) do not underestimate Brains (Mr. Hyram Hackambacker)

  • At least Thunderbird 4 still came out the pod

  • well one truth about Thunderbirds is that probably Thunderbird 2 couldn't even fly to even drop the pod

  • @ShaurntheSheep - I heard back about thirty years ago some aeronautical engineering students in the UK did a thesis on liftbody design. One of the shapes they examined was Thunderbird 2. They did a heap of research, including wind tunnel tests, and concluded that, given enough power and light enough weight of airframe, Thunderbird 2 would have flown.

  • @JBofBrisbane what about the wong way round wing?

  • @ShaurntheSheep - Sorry I took so long to reply, but Thunderbird 2 is not the only design with forward-swept wings. Google "hfb 320 hansa". At least one NASA experimental design featured forward-swept canard wings.

  • @JBofBrisbane oh right i didn't know about that so maby TB2 could fly then, thank for that

  • thats just wat the toys would do get some commensence!

  • I don't get it

  • how did they pick the pod up after ?

  • why would it do that for all you know pod 4 could of been speacially built not to do that brain was a supergeinous remenber

  • @GROUNDON150 Yes but perhaps Brains had an off day or maybe cowboy builders failed to charge the buoyancy tanks.

  • @dataflowc looool!!! Cowboy Engineers...

  • hey i thought this program was real now you have spoilt it im gonna tell my dad and he is bigger than your dad so there

  • how can u lunch tb4 if tb2 cant take off

  • Gerry fixed it by using 6lb breaking strain fishing line.

  • Now that you mention it, there is little physics problem. When TB2 drops the Pod, it shed a good few tonnes of weight, seeing that it is using its full thruster capacity to stay hovering over the water, wouldn't the thing be catapulted into the sky when it drops its ballast?

  • good point

  • @paradisemaster2002 = I thought about that. To balance an aircraft, in hover mode, on four thrusters, each thruster would have to be individuality controlled by the Flight Management System (The computer.) I would guess that upon release of the Pod, the thrusters would be instantly throttled down to compensate for the sudden loss of weight. Much like when a helicopter drops a slung payload, the pilot reduces lift, resulting in only a slight "bounce" of the aircraft.

    Thunderbirds were so cool!

  • @paradisemaster2002 No because Brains had designed a chip that could perform 3000 Trillion calculations a second - enough to instantly adjust the Thrust. He later used the chip for BrainMan which explains why the Robot beat him at Chess.

  • @paradisemaster2002 Get ready to throttle back, and fast.

  • @paradisemaster2002 not necessarily since the video cuts for a moment we dont see the point at which the pod releases. TB2 could have landed afloat on the water with the pod attached (since the pod has the ability to float),then adjusted the thruster power to low or even off, and then released the pod. after which TB2 would boost the thrusters again to take off.

this video demonstrates this at 3:50 watch?v=eNaoOXW_HQM

  • Well, better for the pod to sink than Thunderbird 4.

  • that actually WOUDN'T happen. the Pod has bouency tanks - you idiot.

  • Look how low the pod door is to the waterline, slightest wave would sink it, like what happened to the Herald of Free Enterprise in the port of Zeebrugge in 1987.

  • hahahahaha, you must have been bored ,....lol

  • um, yah. - that is so wrong.

  • Its made out of plastic now? how cheap. When i was wee thunderbird 4 was made outta metal

  • I've still got all the metal models!

  • u must be old. even my grandads thunderbird 4 is made out of plastic. the thunderbird 2 is metal though.

  • haha, when i was little, i got one of the first thunderbird 2 models ever made by matchbox.... it's BLUE (and black).

and all of my other thunderbirds models were metal. i think they came in a special set or something.

  • What about thunderbird 5? Don't you just know the chap up there would be tapping into the Sky network & watching Porn all day. "Dad, Thunderbird 5 here. I'm kinda gettin low on tissue's up here can you send some up on TB3"

  • I'll re-upload the tb5 video for you.

  • I just see something lame you could've done something funnier like had it drop from a higher height THEN sink.

Not like in the clip, all of the Thunderbird2 pods have built in flotation pods that can hold easily Thunderbird's weight and more.

  • you don't sound like a loser at all....no

  • Jeff's gonna be pissed....

  • It wos funny 'cause it wos so blatant and slapstick like all the rest :D

  • lol so crap its funny

  • that was the weakest video i have ever seen on youtube. this is the first comment iv made in about 1000 vids iv seen becasue that was so diabolically crap it begs belief - u seriously have enuf spare time to make videos like this. phew...glad im not you

  • Yeah this one sucks I agree, the pod floats so many other times.

The truth is out there for those of us who know some of the technical shit.

(the pods have buoyancy sections to stop the pods from sinking)

  • Not in this case, it had 3 £1 coins in it, (Gorden must have had some pocket money).

  • Don't put money in it, money could build working tech like this one day.

The fact remmains could done something funnier.

Same thing also goes for the TB3 clip.

  • Ha, you have neglected the freeboard effect!

  • No need to be that hard, there must be worse things you've seen!

  • Tsk, how immature. You only see the surface lameness, without seeing the profound insights offered by this masterpiece.

  • I don't agree with that at all. When people watch television and see all these amazing things, they WILL wonder if it's really possible. I don't think he's trying to discredit the show at all. We all love the show, but we know that some of the effects just AREN'T real.

  • lol!
