No I bought them from a stilt performer here in the UK. I like the idea of the foot over the peg for increased balance and stability going cross country, but I find the balance required is much different to my aluminium pegs in the other videos
I've been working on an "over the peg" design. I will have the footplate bolted to a 2x3 (the peg), and have a 2x2 bolted to the side of the peg which is secured to my leg. I think this design will be a lot more stable at 3 feet.
Probably more stable but almost twice the weight. A large weight of stilt being moved with each step will tire you more quickly and lead to trips and falls. Over the stilt foot plate is a good idea though, but then you will not need a 2x2 up the side of your leg. 1x2 ahould be quite sufficient
When considering your wood you need knot free, because with knotty wood, when you least expect it a knot will fail and send you crashing to the floor. I know having done it with Pine soft wood. A good wood to use is Ash if you can get it
