I will never buy another mobile home but me and my wife have been looking at the Willow modular home that Clayton makes. I know modular homes grow in value and are sometimes even better structure than a site built home. The Willow is a very beautiful house.

Clayton Homes, with all due respect, exactly what are you going to do to remedy this disgraceful home you sold RussianCat2? WHEN is it going to be done, so that we can anticipate Cat's response? Thank you.

I was so excited about the prospect of purchasing a Clayton Home (very soon) however, because of the constructive and well written critique by RussianCat2 I have completely rethought my prior decision, and am considering having my home built by builders and subcontractors that I personally know . . . when it's all said and done, you really get what you pay for. I sincerely hope that Clayton makes it "right" for you RussianCat2 . . and thank you for making me a more aware consumer.

Im sorry,but i would never buy a mobile home of any brand.Main reason is the depreciation factor.As soon as the home leaves the lot,its lost some of its value,and continues to do so.Unlike a site built home,you can build equity and,depending on the market,make a profit when selling a site built home.I lived in one growing up and it was complete crap.Roof leaks,plumbing leaks,the floor rotted out,the walls crumbled and cracked.It actually devalued the property it was on when we sold the land.

@AntonChigurh1 I'm very sorry to hear about your bad experience! Regardless of how or where it was built, everyone deserves a safe, comfortable home. I'm interested to hear more about what influenced your opinion. The belief about depreciation is fairly common, but research suggests the opposite is true. That's why we want to hear from people like you. Studies only tell us so much; your opinion is what really matters!

@claytonhomesNo apology necessary.It wasn't a clayton.I dont remember the builder; i was referring to all manufacutured homes in general.im curious how a manufactured home would appreciate in value,i have never heard or seen one retain value.I'v had two friends who had mobile homes and sold them for less then they bought them,along with realtors saying how mobile homes are always taking a loss when selling and prefer not get in that market.Its good that clayton monitors what their customers say.

@AntonChigurh1 - Modular homes are built to the same standards as site built homes and will have better value. Mobile homes are built to HUD standards, which aren't as strict.

@Stitch0131 I was talking about mobile homes. Modulars, i havent known anyone personally who has owned one, or know enough about them and how they fare in a regular site built housing market.

026985 made a good point. you get what you pay for. If a mobile home or modular cost alot less then a site built home of equal size, corners have to be cut somewhere to save money.

I called the number. The Lady that answered was totally clueless why I would even call. She did offer to fill out a complaint form for me. That’s a sham.

So did you want me to take a Net Promoter Score system servay or something since you mention it. That distraction is not going to make my shoddy home right.

A few problems with my Clayton.

Cabinet doors not square, Nail pops under linoleum, 2x4s in walls crooked = bowing walls, Duct work air leaks, Plumbing openings not sealed, Roof drip edge problems, Light switches arching, Wall plugs crooked, Doorways crooked, lots of belly board tares, Kitchen counter bowed + trim missing, Sheetrock trim crooked, Counter top caulking bad,Gaps in vinyl siding, Squeaking floor, Unleveled floor, Leaky shower door, Vapor barrier wrap under vinyl siding is a joke.

I can't believe the lack of quality construction!!!

I have 2 Clayton Homes and all the walls are set crooked in both. The Low E windows leak air around the perimeter of the windows where there is no insulation what so ever. I took the trim off and looked to see why there was air flow. Kind of defeats the purpose of getting the upgraded windows when air leaks around them.

The upgraded carpet keeps expanding and getting wrinkles.

The workmanship all around is shoddy.
