I like what you are doing and i believe you will work to improve. I felt in the beginning as if you were an independent or beginning songwriters dream. But, I have to agree with several of the comments here, There seems to be a music biz as usualness to the way the critques are handled. Please, look beyond production values n performances to the heart and soul of a song. T'aint easy but, as you all are fond of reminding the artist, neither is making it in this biz. G'luk to all
@mp7nyc Hi there. Thanks for the comments. We (Music Xray) doesn't necessarily look beyond production values or performance or really anything. It's all about the professional you choose to submit to and what they value in a song / track. Some are very open to receiving rough demos. Others only want radio-ready tracks. Even some who say they are open to receiving rough demos actually do receive a lot of radio-ready tracks, so you're competing with them. Submit to a critique or career coaching...
@mp7nyc ... and you can ask them why you're songs are being rejected or what you can do to improve your chances. Music Xray is just a platform. Our employees do not screen songs. When you submit via Music Xray you are submitting directly to the professionals on the site. In that regard, it is a songwriters dream, but you have to be good and present your music as professionally as most of the people with whom you're competing.
As a songwriter, I am aware my vocal tracks are not up to par, however, if you are like me you probably know some great singers, so do what I do and get them to record the tracks. It gets them a great demo and you get quality vocals. Just a thought!
No One Listens I submit my songs as a writer only not an Artist and keep getting told they like the song but the singer Sucks. I knew That, so I waist 100's of dollars No MORE NO THANKS I'm not an ARTIST don't want to be. iF THEY WOULD Just listen only to the songs I'm not waisting any more money until this gets resolved GOOD-BYE
@Raydearth Everyone listens. As the video explains, if you're consistently getting turned down, you should submit a track to one of the many professionals on Music Xray who offer song critiques, career coaching & honest feedback. Ask them questions like, "Why do you think these tracks keep being rejected? How can I improve my chances? Increasingly, you're competing against others who are submitting radio-ready tracks - even if they're only meant as song demos. It's competitive. That's life.
I think Music Xray is a great service overall. I'd like to make a suggestion though, if I could. While all my submissions to the site are reasonably well-produced, some of them are only intended as demos, not full blown productions. I leave room for interpretation. And yet, every submission gets judged on production and performance, which can bring down the overall. I think maybe demo's should get rated differently?
@glennpagemusic You make an excellent point. We need to think this one over carefully though. As it stands, when professionals browse through the top rated songs, they can factor out production and performance (or any of the other attributes), so in theory, those professionals that are up for listening to demos (as opposed to radio ready tracks) can specifically and easily find them. Nevertheless, we will think of ways tro draw more attention to them.
I have had a number of successful submissions that have led to airplay for some of my songs. It’s great to get to the right person that you know will listen to your submission and tell you like it is, good or bad, no one said it would be easy breaking into the music industry, but with Music-X-ray you now have an equal chance, submitting really good music that specifically meets the requested listing and you’re on your way. Do you have a few major success stories you could tell me about?(:
