  • Personally I think Kyle the strongest Green Latern

  • My head started spinning after you started with Hal Jordan's history.

  • thumbs up if you love green lantern

  • green lantern junky and openend my eys to some new things

    thank you :)

  • Thank you so much! I really needed that.

  • That was unbelievably confusing...

  • i hate it when people say the original green lantern was back

it pisses me off when they think there confident too

when i tell them the truth they get all pissy or like what ever that i knew that

    i just love comics!!

  • False gods

  • Green Lanterns weakness's were Wood and the color yellow. Just shows that the amazing Green Lantern can be beat by a #2 Pencil,xD!

  • @YoshiISBEAST99 the wood was actually alan scott's only weakness, the yellow impurity was the glc weakness until green lantern: rebirth and i THINK alan WAS chosen by the guardians, but i don't know for sure if that's true with so many origins, reboots, and retcons over the last 30 years, what IS the true origin of the green lantern? is the starheart which powers alan scott's ring any part of the green energy that is used by the green lantern corps? or something different? then, there's jade

  • This was great and I look forward to more movies from you

  • I watched the vid very interesting. Can anyone tell me what's up with the purple teacher of Hall Jordan from the movie uses the yellow ring?

  • @KenDM The guy you're referring to is Sinestro, who was a Green Lantern but became evil and formed the Sinestro Corps, which uses yellow rings.

  • So...I feel like Avra the scribe was the first GL.

  • Very informative and well done, I look forward to more of your videos.

  • whats the name of that song at 7:40

  • Great Green Lantern brief History

  • Is Alan the strongest Lantern then Kyle?

  • You made this whole thing both really epic and coherent.

  • Wow this was a really cool video. I loved the part about Hal Jordan becoming parralax

  • I had no idea the green lantern had such a history.

  • whats the song at 1:58?

  • @Cardshark45 I believe it is called Escape by Craig Armstrong.

  • impressive and knowledgeable. thanks

  • Problem the video stops at 3:41 for me any ideas?

  • Very cool history. :)

  • i still dont get how guy gardner and hal jordan became GLs. i understand they were backups but what situations had them fill in for hal jordan before he retired? and who was active at what times.. (before hal's temporary retirement)

  • this was great u nailed it

  • thank you for the gl history it was really good btw hal and john ftw

  • You should make an updated version...

  • you can download the green lantern leaked from here.. hosted on filesonic! great movie bit(dot)ly/j0xTQT

  • Well done, I liked this very much. Extremely informative.

  • 4GB USB Iron Man 2 Marvel Flash Drive Superhero Helmet on ebay

  • just saw Emerld Nights...

how come you didnt mention Avra? the first green lantern ever.

is Hal Jordon the first human GL?

  • @mastergradeone No that was Alan Scott.

  • JUST WONDERING IF THE GREEN LANTERNS RING WAS TO SELECT THE BEST CANDIDATE WHO IS FEARLESS ECT WHY WOULD IT NOT SELECT BRUCE WAYNE WHO WOULD BE THE BEST CHOICE JUST A THOUGHT

  • @FreznoKue i agree 100% or daredevil

  • @newtalent1 that's marvel

  • @FreznoKue Are you kidding? Bruce isn't fearless at all. He's afraid of what he will become if he kills someone. He's afraid of letting his adopted family down, and quite frankly he's still traumatized from his parents' killing. However, he HAS mastered the art of instilling far in OTHERS, and when the Sinestro Corps was being formed he was the Earth sector ring's first choice for a wielder. He had tried using a GL ring not long before (and could barely do anything with it) so it rejected him.

  • thanks for the green history....very much appreciated...

  • thanks for this, I always wondered why they never mentioned the history of Alan Scott and Guy Gardner

  • @BlobOnASideWalk Also, there are like seven different blackest night books. You do not need to get all of them. Just get the main event, green lantern, and green lantern corps.

  • @BlobOnASideWalk Yes. If you want to read the early silver age stories of Hal Jordan than you might want to check out the Green Lantern chronicles or the Green Lantern omnibus. If you want to get into more recent stuff, I would suggest you pick up Green Lantern Rebirth, The Sinestro Corps War, Secret Origin, and if you want to read up to Blackest Night than continue on with Rage of the Red Lanterns, Agent Orange, and then you'll be set for blackest night.

  • very informative! thanks for taking the time to explain it!

  • Thank you so much, this is epic. I don't read comic books, but green lanterns have always been my favorite super hero.

  • whats the song at 1:59???

  • nice

  • THANK YOU!

  • you should do in depth detail on blackest night. that would be epic. i know you know it all

  • I did a Green Lantern Corps Tibute Video.

    Please see it at:

The name of it is called:

IN BRIGHTEST DAY IN BLACKEST NIGHT

Here is the link to it below:

    /watch?v=XMSMqmfvcA0

    Enjoy the video.

  • I really didn't have any interest in seeing the movie until I watched this. Thanks!

  • Im so glad someone did this. Great job man. Now ones can be educated on the vast population of the guardians. That there is not just one lantern..

  • and i thought there was only one green lantern =S , ..i cant wait to see how they managed to make a plot for the upcoming movie . great narration btw

  • awesome!

  • can you update this

  • Whats the name of the song at 1:59?

  • Someone needs to show this to all the idiots complaining about Green Lantern not being black in the new movie. Ignorance....BE GONE!

  • whats the name of the song at 8.19

  • Very nice! Hey, does anyone know if there is a collection of early Green Lanterns that can be purchased so that I can read it from the beginning?

  • that was wicked as a g.l fan that was wicked i hope u make a update of this

  • will you make a update of this video?

  • @tgrman1

I don't know how this could be a confusing mess (if that it what you are referring to).

I think this could be one of the best I have ever seen. I'm doing a speech in my English class over the green lantern Corp and this is helping out a lot for me :)

    Thanks for posting :)

  • what a confusing stupid mess , complexity for the sake of complexity, so the writers can prolong their jobs.

  • Being a comic head and a DC Geek, that was the best breakdown of the Green Lantern Series that I've seen. I would try to explain something like that to friends, and you'd better have an afternoon to kill! But you nailed in less than 10 minutes no less. Bravo!

  • Awesome!

you need to make more similar videos on super heroes

  • You really need to do a Part 2 Rebirth to War of th Green Lanterns.

  • great job !!

  • Even the Biography Channel,or the History Channel couldn't do a better job. Great information work on the Green Lantern my friend.

  • Very nicely done. You took an impossibly convoluted soap-opera and nailed all the basics.

  • I agree Please continue the history you're doing a great job

  • so the spectre is hal jordan? o.o

  • @11gearhead13 negative ghostrider, The Spectre is god's spirt of vengence, but also has to have a host, spectres host jim corrigan's soul was at peace, and went on to the afterlife before jordan died. after Jordan died reigniting the sun, his soul was seeking redemption for his actions as parallax, and the spectre chose him as his new host. When Green Lantern Rebirth happens, its like the video says, they split. Jordans Alive now and kicking some ass, and the Spectres new host is Crispus Allen

  • @hbk51385 oh, thx for clarifying =)

  • You really should do Part 2 Rebirth to Brightest Day

  • I'm just getting into reading dc comics and don't know where to start. Id like to read green lantern and hear brightest day is awesome but should I read blackest night first???

  • @avin154 I would start with Green Lantern Rebirth, that kickstarts the current series, and is great. If i were u i would start picking up the trade paperbacks of Rebirth, and the other GL Trades, look on the inside to see which issues they are, for example Green Lantern:No Fear is issues 1-6, I'd pick up all these before u jump into blackest night or brightest day, because u'll miss out on the sinestro corps war, rage of the red lanterns, agent orange etc, and u will have no clue whats goin on

  • Put your hands up if you were following that at the beginning, then got lost, then confused... but kept watching because it seemed really cool!

    *puts hand up* :]

  • Thanks! I am a new comer to the green lantern series. I have just finished Secret Origin. I most likely will read others. So does anyone have recommendations for me?

  • @DjHamHam411 Start with Green Lantern Rebirth then Green Lantern Corps Recharge and onwards

  • @HopexHope Thank you. I actually started with Secret Origin, and now just getting to Rebirth. It gave me a little basis on the character. Cant wait to read them all Geoff Johns is fantastic!

  • @DjHamHam411 Geoff is incredible and his books get better as they go on. I met him at a comic shop signing and he was a really nice guy too

  • The Background music goes amazingly welll with this.

  • all praises.

  • epicness

  • My favorite has always been Hal Jordan, when he lost it and went after Sinestro it was an amazing story.

  • Great Job on this Vid!!!

  • anybody knows the name of the background music ? I heard it on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles trailer back in 2007. I liked the song but dont know the name of it

  • Thanks for uploading this. It's clear and takes you through all the incarnations of GL. The only thing missing was how Alan Scott became the Sentinel, but that's all right.

  • @AriesTRam Also that John is responsible for the destruction of Xanish and Kyle's gf was murdered and stuffed in his fridge but other than that amazing stuff

  • thanx im a new reader. this helped so much. im still fuzzy on the blackest night thing though

  • Something I don't get about GL (even though I love it) it's that in the original plot a meteor was carved into a lantern purely because it got into the hands of someone who buil railway lantern.. yet in the second series the oldest people in existence happen to have a power source shaped in the shape of lantern... something man made... yes it wouldnt have made sense to call him green lantern but surely that doesn't make sense... it would mean that a lantern is the oldest object in humanity.

  • I've only just started getting into DC Comics, but Green Lantern is by far my favourite of them all.

  • @OZORxORON

it all should be globius crusaders of light

  • whats the music at the end called?

  • Way to go. Great history

  • Amazing. Great work my friend. You should do a history narrative of the flash! Awesome!

  • this is the best comic book history lesson, ive had in a long time, I praise you cos this video is the BOMB, and the Green Lantern is Awesome !!!

  • cool

  • No matter what the outcome is, a movie is a movie a comic book is a comic book...

  • this is good but so confusing with the new green lantern and someone coming back and dying and than coming back again lol but good:D

  • First off, Thank you! I'm a huge fan of GL and I thought I knew everything about his history and you took me to school! Thanks for adding in pictures from comics, cartoons and movies..if anyone doesn't know anything about Green Lantern, Watch this.

  • this is the gayest thing I've ever seen.

  • i miss the comic art from the 80s and 90 now its just all stupid it looks just umm stupid weres the artist at you all know what im talking about were did the people go that knew how to draw because now you get this colorboard pictures art dammit art i want the art back

  • if they were going to do a movie about green lantern they should have had it done with the green lantern named alan scott or kyle rayner because a true dc comics would know this that the green lantern hal jordan goes evil i mean its just stupid how they make a movie with the superhero goes evil. still dont think so well read issue dc comics zero hour: crisis in time number 0

  • @tylerjoe24 I understand where youre coming from as a true GL fan. I agree with how they are doing the movie though. The beginning of the series with Alan Scott would'nt be a good movie for todays society, (frankly boring) it would make no money. They wanted the storyline of the GL Hal Jordan was. The fact that a GL came flying down and chose Hal as the new one. It is upbeat and interesting. Especially with the irony since Hal loved flying and it was his passion now he gets to be a GL.

  • green lantern is badass but the surfer owns him.

  • Great job. Informative and interesting.

  • very educational. This can help many people understand the GL corp.

  • Dude nice work on the history!

  • Wow this contained a bit of spoilers for those that (like me) don't know all the green lantern stories but I had never found out what had happened to Hal after he went beserk because his hometown was destroyed... Finally now i know.

Awesome job compiling this. Very detailed

  • Amazing

  • I really enjoyed this

  • very complex plot

  • Wow, Just wow. Well told and what a deep time line. Thank you for filling me in.

  • @postnick

Yeah that was cool. Didn't know the story was that deep either!

  • Man, you should either make a second part to this video, or do a another video on a whole other superhero! This shit is great!

  • uh....holy sh!t. I can follow soap operas easier than this history!

  • I really enjoyed this video. I have only one complaint: it's not complicated enough.

  • jizzed up

  • omg this was amazing living in ireland we dont have comics an so i didnt no much bout gl i hope u do another vid soon this was brill

  • But, overall, it's a very good history lesson on the origins of Green Lantern.

  • What I find very disconcerting is that the visuals, as an accompaniment with the narrative, blends in new art chronoglogically and historically out or order.

  • Nerd! :p

  • @gorillagirlgorilla Better that than a gorilla. At least we're evolved. :P

  • The music is too distracting from the speech!

  • very well done

  • Comment removed

  • I had full intention to watch part of this and find something else to do but wow this was a very well told history.

  • In the '60s did Hal Jordon fight in Vietnam?

  • whats the song at 1:58? where the green lantern comes back

  • @Stunn666 That's escpae by Craig Armstrong

  • 666 likes OMG !

  • wow. what is with marvel and dc? why must they make thier storylines so dizzying? oh well. thier characters, and stories are still good.

  • @fuzzyrats12

SCREW Marvel. DC is far more consecutive & consistant with is's stories.

  • Cool

  • damn. got me on board quick.

  • what's the name of the song on 7:37 ?

  • Thanks for posting, this was cool :)

  • In brightest day, in blackest night,

No evil shall escape my sight

Let those who worship evil's might,

Beware my power... Green Lantern's light!

  • @kfchrist with blood and rage of crimson red, ripped from a corpse so freshly dead,Together with our hellish hate, we'll burn you all...That Is Your Fate!

  • i like green lantern being black

  • @jacobb71 racist

  • thanks parker i didnt know any of the old info you explained

  • @OFIDYAN are you going to make another one of these that goes up to blackest night? Also do have the history of any other heroes?

  • ever think of making another history of video maby the flash?

  • I loved when Rayner relit the battery. *Cry*

  • wow, that was awesome. i've loved gl since the old justice league cartoons and now i finally get what happened before the comics i now have:)

  • GOOD VIDEO

  • that was awesome very well done your a true fan

  • Congratulations for a great video and I wanna say thank you ! Thank you for explanning on how the Green Lantern was born what he/they achieved till this day.

I was always curious what happened to the bad Hal Jordan after receiving such a power that he needed to recerate his once destroyed city and his change of nature for good. Good to know !

  • im about 2 start im 11 and w8in 4 v:1 in mail, plus GL is best in my fav, cosmic ring in dc online all the way p.s this me sis acc =l

  • Thank You.

  • how did kilowog and sinestro come back to life?

  • @uhprah kyle bought killowog back i don't know bout sinestro but kyle may have bought him back too

  • @uhprah I believe when Parallax emerged from Hal's soul to physical reality in the GL Rebirth series, Sinestro emerged as well with the yellow ring powered by Parallax.

  • i started reading way back when denny o'neil & neal adams were handling gl . alot of this i didn't know. thanx, OFIDYAN!!!! shazam1059

  • Well done, a lot of information I never knew about the character. :)

  • more convoluted than even the marvel universe

and why did you skip over his work with the green arrow? best arc ever

  • An often told urban legend says that they were going to name Green Lantern's alter ego Alan Ladd after Aladdin. They nixed it because it sounded contrived. Then a year later, Alan Ladd debuts in "This Gun For Hire."

  • That was really really well done.

  • Thumbs this comment up if think there should be a second part to this history videos!!!

  • AWESOME

  • thanks, tbh i didnt know shit about GL cept he was green

I was wondering, can some steal the ring and use it for evil?

  • Thanks that was a great explanation to the green lantern saga.

  • Thank you! I've always wanted a good explanation. My favourite is Kyle Raynor.

  • @MasterKorael Yeah Raynor is my favorite too. First ion was the best ion.

  • Gl in 10 mins that might as well be the title

  • Love this video, i was just wondering if your going to make a video on the rest of the GL story?

  • thanks for this vid it's help alot just got back into comics books because of my son ,can some please explain different color lanterns where did they come from??

  • this video is AWESOME!!!!!...thanx for the history lesson :) GL RULES!!!!!
