simply, your compatriots didn't understand the treaty! The trety was not prepared to be subdue to a referendum, was a technical treaty for only government approval! But you have a stupid Constitutional Court that obliges every loss of sovereignty to a confirmative referendum.

In order to clarify, Ireland has grown very much since 10 years ago because of european economic and commercial policies!!! But a nation of peasants don't understand this.

If all european contries will approval the treaty, Ireland will accept too. If not, it will expelled. But it semms that Poland, another country of potato-eater peasant, will not ratify. The future is doubtful.

How can a single european country fight against United States or China in the global commerce??? European Union, or better United States of Europe, are vital. The treaty of Lisbona isn't a constitution but allows only a better and more democratic working of european institutions in a Europe with 27!!! -not 15- states!

1) I'm not Irish but German, and my government of betrayors to the fatherland give up our country's independence without even asking the people.

2) The treaty IS a constitution giving the EU legal personality. The name is not important. Germany's constitution isn't called "constitution" either but "basic law" (Grundgesetz).

3) I prefer being a poor, unimportant German than being a rich European making policy for the world.

if you will live in a poor independent germany, your dear national culture will be absorbed by other global cultures (like chinese or american ones)... if you want this!!! The Union permits to mantain our national -or in my case- regional peculiarities in an european peaceful way!

In order to clarify, usually the European treaties recognize only existing institutional customs.. do you know that part of criminal policy passed to the competence of european community through a sentence of European Court of Justice C-176/2003? consequently, without a constitutional express disposition?
