I have had candida hell for about 20 months. I have been obsessed with low carb and no sugar and got bad flareups while eating meat and nuts. Of course it's the fat. I have to avoid fat AND sugar. I tried no fat high fruit and it was awful. Both have to be done at the same time. Its greens and low fat chicken n fish for me now. That always gave me the best results before, before I looked into FAT as the actual cause.
Telling someone with candida, diabetes, overweightness, etc. NOT to eat fruit is INSANITY. Fruit didnt cause those issues so what is the point of eliminating a nutritious, healthy, natural food like fresh fruit from the diet? Just stop eating refined crap, animal grease, milk, etc.. Eat natural foods like fruit, vegetables, and whole grains like you are supposed to and you'll never have those problems.
The big problem with candida is when it changes the way it reproduces itself. Normally, the new cells separate themselves completely from their mother cells, but when the new cells remain attached to their mother cells, THEN candida becomes an aggressive fungus that attaches itself to the walls of the intestines, mucous membrane etc, etc. What causes this change? Most likely a hormonal change in the host. So If we can find what triggers the change, we can prevent it from happening!!!
Dr.Douglas Graham..... The 80 10 10 diet guy gets it... Finally someone gets it...... Message to all suffering starving souls... Stop wasting your money on supplements...this cure and that cure.......a spend $30 bucks on "THE 80 10 10 DIET PLAN". I've struggled with yeast overgrowth for 15 yrs.... NO MORE D.......IT!!!... I can eat any fruit my heart desires, with no yeast maddness...NONE. I was so tired of gala apples and grapefruit.. Peace n Love
This debate is simple What causes Candida is too many antibotics with destroy the good flora in your gut and allow Candida to over grow in your gut sugar feeds Candida but sugar does not cause it.
i can tell u what causes candida. i went from SAD(1/3 fat) to raw(2/3 FAT) and i got horrible candida outbreak. So the fat is the problem. Because a year before i ate the same time period 80/10/10 and i had no candida
Just don't combine fat with starchy/sugary/fruity stuff. You can eat both that stuff AND fat - just not at the same time! As long as you're low carb you can eat those few carbs with fat without problems. Or: you CAN go higher on carbs, for instance: eating lots of fruits - however they have to be eaten separate from fats (oils, nuts, butter etc.)
I have suffered from candida for 16years. About 7 months ago I started low carbing. My candida is not totally eliminated but the symptoms are very minimal. This past weekend I went to a holiday party with my dh and inulged in some deserts. My reaction to those sweets was far less then what it used to be. I know that an anti-candida diet has to be followed for a year or so depending on severity of candida.
I tried going as raw as possible before low carbing and was always hungry.

80% calories from simple carbohydrates, 10% calories from protein, 10% calories from fat.
Most fruits contains these percentages naturally and are roughly the amounts our body require to function effectively.

I am also trying lacto-fermenting veggies.
Sugars and starches can be broken down during fermentation and great for feeding good bacteria.
