the tut is great!!!

tried for full h to get the desired effect. here some tips:

1. double check the flame strokes if the right blending mode is still applied (mine changed for to normal after grouping the strokes))

2. before applying the strokes to the orange mask lower the stroke opacity (about 50%)

3. duplicate the 'Path' layer 2-3 times for richer color and uncheck 'Group' layer

upon request i do a 'walkthrough' but this should be quite fool-proof ^ ^

how do i import an ai file into an open illustrator session..? iv put together some separate vector images in illustrator as i learn how to use it but now i want to put some of the images together on the same illustrator page...currently all my projects are in separate sessions ...i want to combine them...how..?

Slow down. Please slow down. Do two videos. I'm a tech writer. I know of what I speak. None of us have the proper pallets open. We have to open everything as you go through this. As it is, Artistic Brush 2 does not give the effect you got. Why not? It's Adobe is all I can say.

he forgot to show the original BLUE fire color change. this doesn't work right if you don't do that even though it's set to hard light. I couldn't get it to work until I hid the transparency mask and re-colored the background fire to an orangish color. after that, WOW! cool fire

I have to notice, that in CMYK mode while I was using a fire brush with blending mode name hard light, I didn't get an effect of light color in the middle of the fire, it becomes dark. But RGB mode showing the best result. Do you have any idea how to use the brush in the CMYK mode? Thanks a lot!

Dude, the place you have your Ellipse tool, I have a rectangle tool. Where do i find the ellipse tool??

Click and hold the rectangle tool until you open the pop out menu, And then select Ellipse.

adobe photoshop = pixelated

adobe illustrator = vector art

pixelated ==> when you zoom in you get all boxes ( pixels )

vector art ==> you don't get boxes :p it's resizable and you keep the same quality =)

At a very basic level, Photoshop is a raster image editor while illustrator is a vector image editor. They are largely different programs.

Hey mate. Again, wouldn't it be faster to change the stroke colour as opposed to making a coloured mask? You seem extremely skilled in these areas, so there must be something I'm missing.

I found when I was making the flames, if u make them not as solid, and u make three groups of flames and have the middle group go the highest and then feather it, it gives abit more depth and realism to the fire =]

When you first start brushing I have to keep clicking hard light for each stroke. It doesn't stay on. Plus when your strokes overlap it's apparent, but mine look like one solid color.

Looks Great! But the sound is horrifically annoying.  It's all in the left ear. Maybe it's just me.

illus is vector based and photoshop only way i know to draw vector is smart objects. And Nathaniel you realy peed me off with your box vid lol i was gone to enter your ipod comp and open up the creat ect but your vid showed me a new way of doing it and i dont think i will be done in time
