wow, i actually have four of his cd's and while i admit that he does play similar crazy solos in most songs, he actuli has some great rock songs out there... His album.. odyssey (1988) is a great 80's rock album, and has great vocals and background singers. aswell as synth section. check out some of his songs: : Heaven tonight , Bedroom eyes , Making love.

i completley agree with you...i've been playing guitar for a while...long enough to notice that the guitar is the instrument in which you can express yourself even without noticing...every single note is an expression of what you feel, everybody interprets it their own way, but only the original composer can truly feel it. that's his job, making other ppl feel his music as close as he does...if you can't feel it, then it's not for you

Anyone who thinks Yngwie lacks emotion should listen to the solo on Devil In Disguise, on the Eclipse album. Its still one of my favourites by any player.

I know I'll probably get some thumbs down but whatever, Malmsteen is a good guitarist, there's no doubting that...but he's not as amazing as my friend made him sound...I was slightly disappointed and it doesn't have too much rhythym to it (also, I've only seen about 4 of his videos but not his songs so I can't fully judge but this didn't amaze me)

No way is Rising Force Yngwie's best album, to start with, it's mostly instrumental(which kinda sucks). Yngwie himself has said that it's not his best album. If you want to hear the real Yngwie, listen to Perpetual Flame.
There is a reasen for that Malmsteen is famous and batio are not, Batio plays in guitarshop/coffeeshop and show hes boring sweeping and fast tapping... malmsteen makes Brilliant songs,and does not care about speed. I dont think batio has sold 25 million album. lol
i like yngwie but aside from his classics (black star, far beyond the sun etc.) all his playing sounds the same...then again that can be said for batio too. doesn't matter though cause he's lightyears ahead of me lol
Yngwie's songs are certainly not "easy". Lets see Batio right an entire concerto for a huge philharmonic orchestra rather than pulling off parlor tricks.
Batio should go to kid'n'garden compared to yngwie. Yngwie's patterns are way more difficult and require extremely masterful fingering not to mention about the right hand. Batio sweeps all the time
yngwie knows the true power of theory and classical music from the ages of mozart and bethoven and put it into the guitar making the the new genre of "neoclassical"
malmsteen is making music. if you listen his work, vai's, satch's, gilbert's you'll find a style for everyone of them. batio is just ...fast. that's a good athlet not neccesarily a good musician. my humble opinion!
Yngwie and Batio both have the same problem: it's called overplaying, they don'tlet their
music breathe enough. Yngwie's music is more beautiful especially when fused with classical
motifs, whereas Batio fuses more genres, maybe because of his Jazz background. Hendrix shouldn't have even come up. It's probably a hippie generation wigga who did too many drugs to realize even Hendrix idolized Django Reinhardt (as MAB, Yngwie, Ritchie, Page, Beck, etc. did/do)wanting to preserve his rep.

i wasn't calling myself stupid, but at times, the user name tells a lot about the intelligence of the person. i don't really care about the double neck thing, it doesn't matter. what i am trying to argue is that MAB is more technical, and at times, more melodic that yngwie malmsteen. they both can be horribly sterile to be honest. i wouldn't have either of them in my top 10. shawn lane pwns both of them combined in every way possible, including influence.

Anyone who thinks Yngwie lacks emotion should listen to the solo on Devil In Disguise, on the Eclipse album. Its still one of my favourites by any player.

I know I'll probably get some thumbs down but whatever, Malmsteen is a good guitarist, there's no doubting that...but he's not as amazing as my friend made him sound...I was slightly disappointed and it doesn't have too much rhythym to it (also, I've only seen about 4 of his videos but not his songs so I can't fully judge but this didn't amaze me)

It's called rising force, and consists mostly of instruments.
His other albums are mostly song songs, some of them are really good.

No way is Rising Force Yngwie's best album, to start with, it's mostly instrumental(which kinda sucks). Yngwie himself has said that it's not his best album. If you want to hear the real Yngwie, listen to Perpetual Flame.

There is a reasen for that Malmsteen is famous and batio are not, Batio plays in guitarshop/coffeeshop and show hes boring sweeping and fast tapping... malmsteen makes Brilliant songs,and does not care about speed. I dont think batio has sold 25 million album. lol

Batio should go to kid'n'garden compared to yngwie. Yngwie's patterns are way more difficult and require extremely masterful fingering not to mention about the right hand. Batio sweeps all the time

malmsteen is making music. if you listen his work, vai's, satch's, gilbert's you'll find a style for everyone of them. batio is just ...fast. that's a good athlet not neccesarily a good musician. my humble opinion!

Yngwie and Batio both have the same problem: it's called overplaying, they don'tlet their
music breathe enough. Yngwie's music is more beautiful especially when fused with classical
motifs, whereas Batio fuses more genres, maybe because of his Jazz background. Hendrix shouldn't have even come up. It's probably a hippie generation wigga who did too many drugs to realize even Hendrix idolized Django Reinhardt (as MAB, Yngwie, Ritchie, Page, Beck, etc. did/do)wanting to preserve his rep.

pokbacsi100, That was a very intelligent post! The reason I consider the older Yngwie much better (before 87) is that he DID "let his music breathe". Good choice of words. He had style and used restraint. Now he plays very much like MAB or anyone else who seems to just favor technique.
