  • fuck this squirrel murder!!!!!!

  • I half expected for, Patrick Stewart to beam into the passenger seat. :)

  • You may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist's, but that's just peanuts compared to the road to this shop!

  • That play sounds amazing.

  • I want to be a photo-negative Othello; make it so!

  • Drinking game. Take a shot every time Kryten says "yeah" real quiet.

  • @Stumperific Tried it; currently in hospital having my stomach pumped.

  • Suddenly I feel a need to be locally placed in a textile industry related profession.

  • @Mangina9000 lol

  • Could we take a break for a minute Sir, it appears my intelligence circuits have melted!

  • I NEED HIS VOICE

  • do not drink that super stuff its crap

  • Driving around talking to Patrick Stewart on a beautiful English summer's day in the countryside. Is this what heaven looks like?

  • Sir pat stew and no sir david bowie? Cmon man!

  • Thanks for doing this Robert. I've been enjoying the Carpool series tremendously, and Patrick Stewart in particular was interesting. It must be a bit of a challenge to "chat" (interview) whilst actually driving. Far cooler and more fun than anything smuggo Clarkson and co could do. Of course it's a different thing, but still. Rob Grant was really interesting too, which was nice. Thanks again. Keep it real, it's enjoyable.

  • Picard will live for ever

  • Hard to believe this guy is 71 now... He sure as hell doesn't look it.

  • @SkeletalMunch 71's the new 40

  • What was he drinking in that bottle?

  • "This was your fucking idea" I would do anything to hear him say that to Jordy....

  • and then their clothes fall off

  • Do you reckon he goes to the textiles department and says "Make it sew"?

  • thats a long drive to the shop

  • Wow, it's Emperor Uriel Septim!

  • @TonysTactics sadly only for 5 mins

  • The Othello story is absolutely engrossing and the lengths Patrick Stewart went to to play the part is demonstrative of his deep passion for acting.

  • Two of my favourite actors in one 33 minute slot, talking about two shows I love, bliss!!! And very interesting to hear about Sir Patrick's other life outside of the sci-fi, brilliant.... :D

  • @ZacharyJamesWalton mirfield ?

  • What is wrong with me? It took me a few minutes to remember Robert plays Kryten

  • The man barely ages.

  • I would love to see Stewart's version of Othello.

  • People in LA don't know how to drive in the rain because it doesn't rain for weeks and weeks at a time? Hell, it only rains here like at most 4 days a year, and people here know how to drive in the rain.

  • This guy is awesome. Professor X and Captain Jean-Luc Picard.

  • Great show Robert very entertaining.

  • Why ST:TNG was such a good show: they picked up a ton of Shakespearean actors like Patrick Stewart.

  • Life forcehow big is robert llewellyn's head at 13:26

and so it should be :-)

  • Life force

  • they should have had him teleport into the passengers seat

  • @IvanDrago187 that would of been too cliche

  • Holy crap it's Patrick Stewart!

  • That European Union flag on the car just kills me!

  • And her clothes fall off

  • The interviewer reminds me of Gary StrangXD

  • YOU SHOULD OF CALLED HIM SIR PATRICK STEWART OBE

    or Captain Jean Luc Picard

god damb it man this man is a living legend

  • this interview was good.

  • Wow. This is a great watch on a Sunday afternoon.

  • Robert Llewellyn is awesome. Dunno why'd he ever be nervous!

  • Living in the U.S. and seeing this show, the one thing I'm struck by is how we haven't got anything like it anywhere on American TV. It's not even *that* revolutionary a concept (talk show in a car), but I doubt you could get to first base pitching this to a network.

  • Environmental film festiv-oop squashed a squirrel!

  • You !!!! Yes you in the pink shirt!!!! Eyes on the road!!!

  • This is a very interesting concept- normal conversation, not an official interview.

  • I'm going to this environmental film festival...

Oh, go ahead. I don't care if you squish a squirrel.

  • Yes yes, would've made my morning

  • 5 people are either the BORG or Babaloyn 5

  • You should've gone for it. Awesome.

  • Happy Birthday, Sir Patrick! :)

  • Every passenger asks if it's recording. Patrick is a nice person. And so are Llwelly.

  • Haha! I live in Huddersfield, go to the Uni and even lived in Mirfield for a small while. I even went to the same Secondary school as him. Although, why he ever went to Dewsbury I don't know. Been there a couple of times. Shithole. He is a legend of a man and a fantastic actor. Was amazing when he turned on the christmas lights. Pity he never said "make it so"

  • Funny how he has looked almost the same from the mid 80's.

  • @m4ffe yea lol, he looks the same now as when he was doing Star Trek

  • Patrick Stewart makes an excellent sat nav it seems...

  • Anybody seen the episode of extras with him? I keep expecting him to end a sentence with, "and then her clothes blew clean off" Lol..

  • @moonsugar1 Haha, I watched that before I came to this video and I thought the same thing.

  • That sounds like a really intense stage experience with the curtain call on Othello.

  • i've always wondered what it was like to be bold

  • It takes half an hour to the shops?

  • Mr. Kryten set course for the local village shop. Engage!

  • @73831 hahaha i thought the same thing damn i miss Kryten

  • 2 dislikes are from squirrels

  • Star Trek Trivia: Patrick Stewart HATES squirrels

  • Ian McKellen would be awesome for this show.

  • Comment removed

  • Patrick Stewart is pretty bloodthirsty...towards squirrels.

  • lol I wonder if any famous person has ever been picked up by this guy and was like "I'm gonna take a nap- wake me when we get there."

  • These are great interviews - although I hesitate to use the word as they're simply natural conversations between two people. Stewart is as articulate and engaging as ever, and listening to him talk about his huge a range of experiences - from filming Star Trek to starring as a white Othello - was really fascinating. Really awesome stuff.

  • "Robert, take us out of garage, one quarter horse power."

  • I saw the title in the related videos section while watching the carpool Steven Fry show and almost had a fit of excitement. ... ok I admit that it is 3am and I did in my enthusiasm clap my hands repeatedly in my excitement for this video ^_^ Before I even clicked on the link. Just seeing the title set me off. LOL

  • "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right" "right"

  • @DankWin Poor Llewelyn. Watching this video I kept think that. He must have been, pardon my language, shitting himself. He said so very little. ^_^ Though I cant blame him. I'd be the same.

I now think its possible to be in love with a man without actually being in love with him. The respect and admiration I felt for Patrick Stewart while watching this was overwhelming.

ANd now I sound like a creepy stalker. LOL Not that it matters, its unlikely I'll ever meet him ^_^

  • @Lostfaith1980 i share your admiration sir

  • @Lostfaith1980 Nah Patrick Stewart is a sexy fucking man.

  • @DankWin

They were probably driving in the holodeck, not much space. xD

  • Atlast! Jean Luke and Kryten in the same vessel!

  • I wonder who his girlfriend is.

  • This is an incredible idea! after a little while it feels like your just in a car with a famous person, its just so naturally relaxed. Its only after i finished watching i realized i hadn't actually been part of that journey. Surprised these haven't got more views.

  • Why aren't they showing this on danish tv?... I love this show..

  • I first encountered Sir Patrick Stewart in John Boorman's (excellent) Excalibur. It is still an underrated classic. Full of the Arthurian magic and symbolism, it's one of the best Arthurian movies ever done.

He doesn't look a day older than he did the last Star Trek The Next Generation movie. And he doesn't look much older than in Excalibur in the early eighties (1981 as far as I remember).

As far as I know, the Enterprise travels through Trekspace, the Red Dwarf through the funnyspace?

  • well, great minds think alike. Sir Patrick Stewart is amongst Red Dwarf's fans. Who in the hell gave this a thumbs down? This is actually interesting TV for once.

  • well, great minds think alike. Sir Patrick Stewart is amongst Red Dwarf's fans.

  • Do Red Dwarf and The Enterprise not travel through the same universe? Maybe Red Dwarf could run into them or vice versa? Or maybe a pre-dwarf kryten?

  • Do Red Dwarf and The Enterprise not travel through the same universe? Maybe Red Dwarf could run into them or vice versa?

  • I honestly have watched a lot of these, but...when he was saying about the four male pheasants, I thought he was going to say "Four Lights"...You know you've watched too much TNG when...

Anyway, amazing guest! and an awesome watch!

  • Robert, plot a course for Starbucks, maximum warp, ENGAGE!

  • Enterprise in shop, carpooling...

  • Poor Bob's so nervous until the squirrel moment!

  • look he's MOVING FROM TOPIC TO TOPIC... QUITE HYPNOTIC!!

    Awesome!!

  • @yourlifeisboring YES MATE!

  • @yourlifeisboring Darmok and Jalad... in a prius

  • PICARD!!!

  • The sun is shining in the UK! What a wonderful day!

  • Well, if you have a brilliant stage actor like Patrick Stewart in your car, why not also try to get Sir Ian McKellen to take a drive? That'd be cool. :)

  • Squirrel killing prick. I expect better from a star fleet officer....

  • What I really love about this is the informal feel and flow of it. no Q&A or performance. you get a chance to see the people as they actually are. What interests them, what annoys (in this case, squirrels apparently) and just how they talk when it is person to person. What an awesome idea!

  • They didn't show the part where Patrick beams in.

  • *yawns*

I do like Sir Patrick Stewart very much, but after watching this, the phrase "a bit of a bore" springs to mind...

  • @MechoMadness What's wrong with you man? Sir Patrick is many things, none of them a bore.

  • @sondano I believe the term "badass" is preferable in referring to him.

  • Look at Robert´s face 4:56 after Stewart said "We were 7 years shooting the series!" (and look at Stewart´s face while he is saying it)

Robert: "Right!" but is thinking "Fuck...what series?" ^^

  • Does anyone know where they're driving?

  • @Meresankh Where no man has gone before.

  • Comment removed

  • @Meresankh a Prius

  • @trousercough There's a difference between what they're driving and where they're driving. ;)

  • somewhere near Cheltenham

  • Pause it at 00:57.

    Engage!

  • carpoolUK, i just discovered your series...Brian Cox led me to your show, Patrick Stewart second :) looking forward to discovering more, good work

  • listening to patrick all i could hear is: "and all her clothes fall off..."

  • @alexhamster1134 HAHA too true

  • That was a lot of fun to watch and listen to. Patrick Stewart is a delight. Such a nice guy and he's so busy. Wonder what he's doing for 2011.

  • captain picard does not care for squirrels :P lol

  • Brilliant show. I've watched five episodes in a row.

  • ey Kryten ya smeghead, what are you doin' with the captain?

  • @jarpasmannen oh yea, now that you meention it, there is a resemblance with kryten...

  • Patrick Stewart is awesome. His voice just resounds authority, when he speaks, it commands the utmost attention. Plus he's just a cool guy.

  • Actually, there was a "photo negative" Othello before, in the 1960s. There was a script called "White Othello" by a man named Russell Roman Sr. who set the play in Africa with a caucasian mercenary as the white Othello. It was going to be an off-off Broadway, very small scale production. But the stage manager and the lead actor absconded with the funds that Roman had scraped together.

It would be great to see a film version of the Play that Stewart did.

  • Am I correct in thinking that all of Patricks unproduced LA works had a common theme? I believe that they were all concerned with him "looking at a woman"; and then "all of her clothes falling off", and of course he then "sees everything".

  • @johnpetermalcolm - lmao i love extras

  • @johnpetermalcolm he deserves all the porn he wants he is so awesome

  • I hope Patrick Stewart lives forever.

  • I love his eyes!! He has very sweet eyes!!!

  • 0:50 to 1:05

  • Nailing the fluffy tailed ninja bastards for eating patrick's trees ! lol XD

Great material of a perfectly normal person and. Hey, Life ain't bad for him. Kudos, I like the candid stuff like this =)

  • 31:26 " Beautiful cat ... it is a cat isnt it ??? So funny

  • This was incredibly manly interview...By the time Sir Patrick mentioned having a car named after him...you both got butch as hell! Fantastic!!!!!

  • Let me get this straight. Patrick Stewart is 70. And he was waterskiing? With his girlfriend's father?

I've always been a big fan of Patrick Stewart, but I had no idea he was this cool. I want his life... :-)

  • he was my chancellor and had lucnh with him...a very generous man, and wondeful to talk to. We praise you sir

  • so theres my mother on her deathbed, riddled with cancer, and my son come by the bed because - you're going to want to turn left here.

  • Patrick is amazing, he acts even in person :)

  • Sir Stewart, you are a legend. I hope I have half your class at some point in life.

  • I can't believe I only just discovered this series.

  • That is so awesome!! I love this guy!

  • Brilliant - love the show

  • half expected you to beam Stewart into the chair with a special effect :D

  • "we would hit black ice all the time.... (unnatural pause)"

    lol

  • Bravo! A real treat!

  • LIFEFORCE! :) Mathilda May is permanently burned into my memory from that movie! :)

  • Holy crap! Thank you Bobby!

  • I would have gone shopping with him. :D

  • Robert pass this on to Mr. Stewart. He said his production company had all these projects and such. And no one in Hollywood would touch his projects. He should or could go out into the Independent Film people all over the world. I am sure he would be able to find some people to help him bring his projects to life. I be glad to help if i can in some way, some how!

    thanks for your time!

    Keith Hecker

  • Wow, you've really raised the bar on this one!

  • You've got to be ... OH MY GOD! Robert! Fantastic!

    - Jason

  • Wow patrick stewart! awesome! lol
