This song is packed with more licks than a Tootsie Pop.
I hear the remnants of all the pioneers guitarist he loved: Dick Dale, Wes Montgomery, Larry Coryell, Albert King, Randy California, Buddy Guy, Link Ray, Robbie Krieger, Freddie King, Jeff Beck, and so on.
man this video restores my faith in humanity...no arguing in the comments, no one begging for thumbs up, just people grateful to be listening to such good music
We could talk about Stratocasters, single coils and humbucking pick-ups, Les Paul, Flying V, Seymour Duncan, Fender and Marshall and Vox, and Mesa, soft and hard strings'tension, and so on.... Some of the young music lovers can ever not recognize a Les Paul Standard..... not to mention other guitars models....
I notice all these compliments on Jimi. But thirty-four years ago, it looked like if I was the very only one who knew this piece of him. All knew Voodoo Child, Electric Ladyland.... but every time I set the record for hear this song, none stayed to hear, everyone seeming to consider that it was a secundary piece of him. I'd like to know how many of these people, who where so disdaining this music, are now writing that it is good.
18TH SEPT 1970....The start of my Day long Vigil to Jimi with this rarely played mastery of a True Musician and an Instrument, WHAT A MARRIAGE, STUNNING STUFF.... My biggest inspiration in music to strive for that sort of attunement, it being the key to one, of the portals into the very Soul of Humanity.
sweet, interesting to hear after all these yrs. ive been to Pali, so did Jimi capture those strong winds of the Pali? i think so, Yes!! RIP Jimi, we love ya brah!
thanks for posting jimi's best groove in my opinion can't surpass what's been said about the man that hasn't already been said . jimi I hope we meet in the next world
i strongly advice people to listen to Beautiful people {the band} from England who took a load of jimi samples and made different songs from them, check out "the sea...eventually" sampled from this and Hey baby, castles made of sand +electric ladyland. Experience Hendrix put a stop to BP using jimi samples but i think jimi would have liked what they did with his music...he was a man of creative spirit, he embraced new ideas. RIP JIMI.
i had the album at 16 yrs..within 4 years it was ..well, i found it in 2 pcs in the morning after mad manila party - i got mad kicking people awake but w/ 4 die hards we went back downtown and another 5 hour happy hour at blue hawaii -folks who knew ermita and that place will know what i mean........lp was gone but music contued.
