Subaru's sound better with any exhaust because of one reason. The exhaust manifold is different lengths on both sides because of the boxer layout. cylinders 2 and 4 have a shorter pipe than 1 and 3 do.

You better hope its not a Honda. For some reason the Subaru's have a better sound with whatever exhaust you put on the car. I think it might be because of the size of the downpipe. But Honda's all have that "pissed off bumble bee" noise, and it is incredibly annoying.
