@SLwootwootUK Yeah, I'm sure. 'Cause the name "Ceylon" is from the vernacular pronounciation of the Sanskrit "Sinha/singh" ("lion"), which they would have said as "Sihalam" or something like that. So "Ceylon" would have naturally been a corruption of it. The Chinese were aware of the name "Ceylon" since at least the 3rd century, about 700 years or so before any precise European knowledge of that island. But then again, the Chinese often confused Sri Lanka with the rest of the subcontinent.
