Just purchased a Blacktop Tele. I am very pleased with it. Love it! Has a few flaws like: volume knob is fading in from silence to some low value (not smoothly), 3rd string is a bit louder than others and it's hard to tune, 3-switch makes a bit of crackling noise, but overall very nice guitar for the money I paid for it (410 EUR). Very nice fret board, awesome body resonance and decent Alnico pickups. With the idea that it can be modded easily I recommend.

@kuhnjg well yeah of course is going to kick arse now haha thats a sweet mod. my only real query would be that the tone knob is knida lousy (as in 0 is nothing, and 1 is a massive step from zero) i like playing low tone, but not complete mush sound. you want to hear the stings a litte bit. but this will be solved hopefull by the purchase of a boss Ds1 pedal. i have an old 82 II series Stage lead amp with wheels from Japan too, they go together nicely. This guitar was a bargain though its great
@kuhnjg you don't like Asian parts? i bought my Jaguar blacktop for $680. its hardy, durable. the heavy strings are great. the bridge section kicks arse. it doesn't go out of tune. I love playing low tone fuzz and its sound awesome. you can strum at it hard. plus it looks retro with the knobs, and almost a toy, other wordly with the angled body, but has a bit of weight in it. so its really fun to play and is fucking sexy! have some you didn't have to buy those parts

@rockerdude Man they have had a two humbucking strat for a while, its called the big apple strat. Also the Fender Deluxe Player Strat has a 12' radius neck and the S-1 pickup options. Fender has partnered with Floyd Rose since the early 80's. Please don't post asking for stuff if you don't know what the hell you are talking about.
@LfunkeyA dont get me wrong, i like the idea behind this line and i think these are great platforms for mods/upgrades, i just wish we didnt have to pay 5 grand for a quality, american made guitar these days with top materials, construction, nitro finish etc. its cool that fender has a new line of affordable guitars, i just honestly dont know why the same guitar that everyone could afford in the 50s, 60s and 70s is a 5 grand custom shop model now. maybe demand was much lower back then. i dunno..
these guitars are pretty great in general, no need to mod them unless you're a pro. the reason the custom shops are so expensive is because of all the fender lovers who just can't stop sucking up to the whole vintage fetish. as well as the made-in-the-USA label; quite honestly the craftsmanship is not that much greater than MIMs, and the electronics aren't worth 1000s of dollars, heck Japanese fenders happen to be more quality.
@oxidindigo man this sort of guitar goes beyond shredders.. Y love classic strats but to me the black top line is sexy.. the looks of fender with more growl and power it's beautiful.. if you don't like them fine .. they have a classic series too ya know?
