I hate this. Iv made myself ill watching these videos and iv become obsessed with been 'thin' I have been diagnosed with bulimia/anorexia and is now getting help. Its more about how you ffeel then been thin and the food its self. I dont have periods and my hair falls out and i still feel fat.. even though iv lost over 3 stone and i was at a normal weight to begin with. Yea it seems like a good idea to begin with but its destroying my life now and its all i think about. :(

@EvilBlakBunny Yeah i know - i do he was part of the Hunter family, They lived in the same house which the Ashworths lived - The Ashworths moved in straight after the Hunters moved out. Lee's funny. I am looking forward for him to come back.

It'll be so good if she comes back in about a year or something. :D

I think if I was Emma Rigby I'd have wanted to lose weight for the storyline. I mean, she was supposed to be anorexic - but she looked pretty much the same. It's just a shame!

@MKolsenblackroots Emma is a lovely healthy weight and it would have been dangerous for her to lose any weight for the role. Especially with such an ongoing thing like a TV soap - she could have easily fallen ill herself.

I think they did a great job of portraying the illness and they managed to create a good illusion of the weight loss with use of makeup and clothes etc. I don't think it was necessary OR safe for Emma to actually lose the weight.

i think it doesn't help those who are suffering from an e.d coz in my case it only spurred me on to get the results. I think that hollyoaks has done the best storyline covering this than any other soaps, but they should treat the topic more carefully.

Yes i agree with you, i think for me tho, it was this storyline that help cause my e.d and even tho i do like these vids as i love the storyline so much i do find them triggering when i see hannah binging and purging. i want to i get the feeling back of how good i felt after. but i have to recover this time, which is very very hard. as my mind is in too minds in recovering. so annoying.

actually hannah's 18th birthday was in a hospital. i think u mean her 17th bday then?

Hannah never had a birthday whilst she was in hospital. She was in hospital from September-October but her birthday is in January.

You are probably thinking about her dad's birthday that the family celebrated in the hospital with Hannah.

Some people ARE naturally thin but anorexia is a serious disease of the mind that creates a deep fear of gaining weight. It drives the victim to extremes such as starving themselves and purging in order to lose unwanted but sometimes vital weight.

To the sufferer - who may be in denial that they have a problem - the main focus will be on food and weight but these obsessions are just symptoms of underlying psychological issues.

I know what these people are going through and I pray for them.

technically its not a disease its a mental disorder that develops its not caused by germs or bacteria like diseases are its just something that happens in the sufferers head like hannah she got it into her head and genuinely belived that jon paul dumped her because she was fat, thats how it starts

It is a mental disorder and I personally don't like calling it a disease for the same reason you have stated but that is what it is medically known as. There can be several contributing factors - from low self esteem to abuse - that can trigger an eating disorder. And from there onwards it is hell.

Some of the things that contributed to Hannah's illness were here break up with JP, the death of baby Grace, and also peer pressure (Sarah being a model etc).

It varies for each sufferer.
