Ya jumping might save you a second or two, but only if you execute it perfectly. I think overall bunnyhoppers lose time due to crashes, mishaps seen here, etc. Also run the risk of really blowing it and bending your rim or something similar and be completely out of the race.
Good for style points, but not sure its worth it if you want to win.
watch the front guy, his shoe comes unclipped. only reason the other guy passed him. regardless, though, you conserve way more energy staying clipped in versus dismounting, running, jumping, running, jumping, running, jumping back onto the bike, then clipping back in.
Running might be quicker but:
a) his bike is pink; and,
b) bunny hopping is cooler
