  • My mother's new fusion is setup like that, with the tie rod at the top. My escort has the tie rod setup behind the wheel instead. Just had my inner and outer left and outer right replaced. Had a clunking noise and some wandering.

  • Raptorv,I have a 2002 Nissan Alitma 2.5L how do I verify whether the inner or outer tie rods need to be changed?

  • @tripp333 easy, get your ass down on the ground and look to see which one is loose

  • @lathel916 tie rod puller or separator. pretty straight forward

  • This video should be renamed " How to install a cotter pin" Seriously though, has anyone ever embarked on a job where certain "simple procedures" turned out to be the hardest part of the job?

  • Nice...do you think that it would be relatively the same set up on an 07' PT Cruiser?

  • Man, you fanagle way better than my dad :D!

But god how I always hated how noisy the air rachets are!!!

  • Air tool. Must be nice.

  • @PAT911999 i think it's called breathing?

if you don't breathe you may die

  • @PAT911999 he's a fat ass lol... i never saw somebody out of breath by just sitting down

  • I just got an outer tie rod replaced on my Grand Marquis at a local rapair shop and I defnitiely got jewed. They charged me $40 for the tie rod itself, then $50 for labor. And I could have done this shit myself for $17 and ten minutes of my time.

  • Do this M..F don,t have a fucking hammer.

  • Does anyone know if tie rod ends with servicable grease fittings come pre-greased or do they need to be grease gunned? Thanks.

  • let me guess... uve never been laid?

  • Very helpful...THANKS!

  • How can I tell if I am tightening the nut on the ball stud to the recommended torque?

  • use a torque wrench, and try to find out the specs for it on the net, if the nut isnt aligned with the holes for the cotter pin, turn the nut a lil bit more till the pin can get in, by the way that video was very helpful, thanks for uploading

  • awesome

  • wow.. that 99 chrysler has the steering and suspension system from a car from the 30's

  • raptor,

When you install the new tie rod end, do you want the top of the tie rod to be parallel with the bracket on the strut? I ask because mine are not parallel and off a bit. thanks, great video.

  • it all depends on the vehicle. some cars need to be parallel and some cars don't.

  • My intrepid usually has reverse thread when putting a outer tie rod end on, ive done rods on these cars a number of times and never seen any with no reverse thread.

  • Thank you for taking the time to post this helpful video

  • Excellent video, this will help a lot.

  • Thank you for posting this video. I was told that my outer tie rod needed to be replaced after bringing it in to get checked. Your video makes it look like a pretty easy job that me and my fiance could both do ourselves. Thanks again for saving me money. I also like to do research on parts and replacing things cause I know how auto repair places like to take advantage of girls, and I am anything but gullible or dumb and love to get my hands dirty! :)
