One of the problems I had with the anime is that they killed Arc's innocent, almost child-like personality. Some people may not like that personality because its too moe I guess but I think its important for many of the Shiki and Arc bonding scenes.
People who say that Tsukihime anime is utter crap are utter idiots. Because only thanks to this perfect anime the original Tsukihime game got a lot of public focus from fans all over the world only to find out that it was only in japanese until mirror-moon was formed that got this game translated, after which some folks have found out that the game is much better than anime. So what? What have they expected from 13 episodes? Without the anime i seriously doubt the game would have been translated
@Flankymanga the fact that it gave the original publicity (which is pretty much the main reason why many light novel and eroge get anime adaptions in the first place, to boost the publicity of the original) doestn make the anime itself any better..
@xerxBreak It doesn't - but neither it does give the anime critics the right to say that it is bullshit, because most of them would not even know that there is some Tsukihime novel game in the first place.
@Flankymanga weeell if SO many people say the aniem is THAT bad, id say you gotta trust that. sure there are some that say any adaption is bad because they wanna feel superior and elitist, but most of them do knwo what they are talkign about, and also know when a visual novel adaption is good, too (best example so far may be steins;gate.) personnaly i havent seen the tsukihime anime myself yet, because i trust the critics of the people i know i can trust, but if you wanna see the characters vo
voiced and animated, try out melty blood (their official fighting game) or carnival phantasm (the great animeversion of take moon, which is an absolutely hilarious parody of fate and tsukihime, by the auhtor of kannagi. i highly recommend it.)
honestly from the AMV's ive seen, im nto sure if i could watch the tsukihime anime anyways, it would feel too strangeto me how they changed the character designs/drawing style, too...
@xerxBreak did ou come across the game first and if so how? Because some friend told you, and the friends friend told him etc... ultimatelly on our western hemisphere anime was first and thanks to the anime the game became popular. In japan it was ofcourse the other way arround. But the point is anime played an important role in making the game famous arround the world.Controversy about the differrences between t he game and anime are irrelevant because in anime have differrent limits
@Flankymanga well i came across the game first because i was a fan of fate/stay night first...
i understand what you mean and i didnt disagree to it, im just saying the fact that its just publicity for the game is no excuse for it beeign bad, thats entirely to blame on the fact that studio DEEN's writers suck when it comes to anythign dramatic. they are only good with stuff thats either comedy or GAR.
thats why i gave an example of a good VN-adaption to show how its done. the fualts of the anim
e are not due to the limits of anime after all... not in this case at least. everyoen is aware that its impossible to stuff 5 different story-paths into one anime, but the failed with the one path they chose, not due to the limits animehas anyways but due to changing important things without reason, like many other here have already pointed out.
to give another example, you know how i said the steins;gate anime, thats also based on a visual novel, is really good? chäos;head, which is based on a
visual novel by the same developer as steins;gate s originally just as good as steisn;gate, but the chäos;head naiem, which was doen by another team than the steins;gate anime, was infinitely worse than the original while the steins;gate anime did the original justice just fine.
other examples: the amagami SS anime did the original eroge amagami justice, while the 11eyes anime did not do the 11eys eroge justice at all. well, ingeneral you can expect the adaptions with 12 episodes to fail...
How the hell I should know? I'm not a girl. I guess it depends on your tastes. In my opinion, the game was MINDBLOWING. I mean, Wow.... At least try it, I don't think it's that expensive.
If you like the anime play the game, because "there is no Tsukihime anime. "
Girl wise the translation patch gives you the option to remove the H-Scenes so it can be made a bit more girl friendly. It mostly comes down to how big a fan of anime in general the girl is, and how tolerant they are of the H-game roots.
Really? I have the VN and I don't think it ever gave me that option. Then again my bro installed it for me so maybe there was an option then and I never saw it. For the most part the Tsukihime H-scenes were storyline directed so I was okay with most of them. The succubus scenes, while hilarious afterwards, were not exactly for the good of the storyline. Those two or so rape scenes I think were not necessary either. But the other ones were alright in my books ~_^
my girlfriend loves the game, she introduced it to me. The story is amazing and you can implement yourself into it as well because of the many choices the protagonist can make. It has some sex scenes/nudity but it isn't the main focus of the game. You can just skip them if you want, the story itself is something you don't want to pass up however, at least give it a try.
You should play the game. The anime is a piece of crap in comparison. I really loved the anime too, until I played the game. They chose to follow Arcueid's route, but they left out so much of her story and changed both hers and Shiki's personality.
No, no, no. the "there is no tsukihime anime" quote is a joke. You see, people who have played the game realize that the anime's story is utter crap in comparison to the game's story. I like the anime, but it just isn't nearly as awesome as the game.
@RanmaHikari i have played the game and seen the anime as well..... i have enough of crap of all those people telling that anime doesnt exist. You can't stick everything that was in the game into anime! Game was great but the feeling anime gave me was unique! Because you could see the characters animated and with voices! Thats a ultimate experience a game from 10 years back could not provide... still it gave a base to a legend we know today under the name Type-Moon :)
@Flankymanga Of course they can't fit everything in the visual novel into the anime. However, they chose the Arcueid route and screwed it up. They changed Shiki's and Arcueids personalities, they left out a LOT of plot development that was supposed to be present in that route, Yumizuka somehow survived to the end and didn't confess to him in the beginning of the story like she did in the VN, They made it look like she was one of his best friends... They added a useless amusement park episode...
@RanmaHikari first of all yumizuka was depicted as a girl that have fallen for shiki, not as his best friend... secondly - how they changed shiki and arcueid personalities? I have seen in the game and anime pretty much the same. They could be serious, but they could be happy laughing too. And that useless amusement park was really something that i was actually missing in the game. Game had too serious atmosphere. Anyway thanks to anime you came to know and played the game... don't forget...
@Flankymanga Yumizuka ate lunch with Shiki quite often in the anime, and it was insinuated that it was a normal occurrence. Shiki was WAY too serious and border-line emo, and Arcueid didn't have that playful, curious side to her at all. They also made Aoko too serious as well. They nerfed Nrvnqsr and turned that fight into a ten second battle. To tell you the truth, I felt that the anime was more serious than the game. The music was so depressing all of the time. It just isn't a good adaption.
o.o' there are too many shiki's Shiki Nanaya, Shiki Tohno, Shiki TOHNO, Shiki Ryoga >_<" It's cool and all but damn! *continues with playing meltyblood*
look the episode uh on veoh dot com (wihout spaces and . instead of dot) look up tsukihime episode 11 and you will get a subbed version. Their subs are the best I have seen so far. The bandage guy was "the psycho"

It's funny. Watching an AMV of it, might actually lead one into thinking the anime might be good. It's sad how untrue that is tho.
