I don’t understand the animosities against Cued from the deaf community.
Most hearing people don’t know ASL, and why should they? It’s another language – unless you get in contact w/ deaf people, you rarely develop a desire to learn it.
Sign languages are far more complex to learn for a hearing person than Cued, and besides, deaf people also benefit from knowing the language the hearing around them communicate in.
To want all hearing to learn Sign, is like me wanting the world to learn German.
Hm, interesting. Cool that some still use ASL with Cued Speech. Too bad the one mother felt it was hard to learn sign language and that she felt restricted in expressing certain things because of having to learn to say it in a different way. In the end, ASL only helps, never takes away-it's another language to add to their repertoire, never a bad thing. Cued speech is not a language like others stated, but like in the video I like what the father said, a language support..
Thanks for your comments. I'd love for the individuals in the video to comment, but I do want to confirm that the individuals in the video are pure ASL-users. They also know Cued American English. Thanks!
its funny that you are using SIMCOM and you're promoting Cued Speech?
That's the problem with American Deaf Society today - too many differences in language, and not enough uniformity in language preferences.
I don't understand why everyone can't just choose ASL - it is the MOST accessible language for deaf persons, and they would have no restrictions to communications. The only barrier would be the hearing peope that dont sign. Solve how? Teach all babies how to sign :)

You're right. The Cued Speech method is not a language, BUT English (whether cued, spoken, or read-IS a langauge).
