  • no offence but these movies are prity rubbish but each to there own, for me im more into the films like dances with wolves or last of the mohicans try into the west and the battle scene of the battle of little bighorn on the film they died with there boots on is realy good it is a good film actually. geronimo, bury me at wounded knee and havent seen it yet but comanche moon looks worth a watch.

  • oh my, I didn't watch dance me outside, because I was told, it was like smoke signals... Seems like I gotta watch it XD And I also avoided Dreamkeeper... But I seem to have to watch that too! *-*

  • I've never heard of any of these films, my top 5 would have to be

    1.Windwalker

    2.Crazy Horse

    3.Dances With Wolves

    4.Geronimo: An American Legend

    5.The Last Of The Mohicans

  • I hope some of you here are real fans of native people movie. i once watched a movie in hallmark but i cant remember the title. the black ... ? one of the scenes that i remember is the native people kidnapped the english women and that night, one of the woman was sitting infront of the fire feeling devastated or unsafe i dont know in a manmade hut. then suddenly a native guy came in and give her sumtin (looks like a chocolate) but she threw it in the fire and the man got angry and raped her. =.=

  • Did anyone mention the movie "Little Big Man"?

An Epic film.....made in the 70's.

It stars Dustin Hoffman and many of the best native american actors.

The story is about a white man that was raised as a chief's son. The tribe calls themselves "The Human Beings".

He grows up unaware of the ways of white people. He gets taken from his tribe and soon finds out what being white represents. Things happen to him that force him to choose where his loyalties are.

A funny and very sad epic.

  • Clearcut is also one of my favorite movies

I also liked "Grand Ave" from 1993, and of course "Thunderheart"...

unfortunately not many good american native movies out there ;(

  • 1. Skins

    2. Black Cloud

    3. Smoke Signals

    4. ThunderHeart

    5. Dreamkeeper

    *My Top 5.....Just Sayin (:

  • "Dreamkeeper" is amazing. Although Hallmark tends to make nothing but top-quality programing ;) Definitely my favorite with a Native American theme.

"Smoke Signals" is really good, I thought.

  • I loved "Dreamkeeper" , "The Business of Fancy Dancing" and "Dance me outside" ! I want more, more, more!

  • I think Clearcut is a very underated movie...some of the lines in that movie are HILARIOUS! "The influence of an elder is often overated" --Wilf to the lawyer...

  • Skulls in the back?

  • oops i ment heard. not that "hread" lol i make alot of mistakes on youtube mobile!

  • the other day you emailed me saying Thanks for Subscribing your Welcome BUT Thank YOU for making this video! i am half native but i have not seen or hread of any of these films until i came across your video. now i want to watch 'em all lol.

  • Thanks for these great reviews. I love The Business of Fancy Dancing. I'd love to watch the others. You look like you're into anthropology (judging from the skulls behind you).

  • that cracked me up....i was like shermens gay?! and how does he know!!!hahahahah

  • Thank you, this was interesting.

  • Nice film recommendations. Lately i've been trying to find some Native films to watch and these look great.

  • said the hokwat

  • @xxsidmanxx ?? I am curious.

  • @LithodidMan "Non-Indian." A stupid, cynical comment on that person's part.

  • i think The New World was good aswell. have you seen it ?

  • @payrolll I haven't seem it yet.

  • Native american brothers movies Cool ! about time.

  • Holy crap Since I saw one of those clips I decided Im gonna watch it! "main character 1: I live under the sun and moon. Between the land and horizon.".........policeman man: and you where do you live?.... Main character 2: :) Im his neighbor." lmao

  • @Mserinfizzle If one person sees this awesome film because of my video, the effort was worthwhile. Dance Me Outside is a really great movie, especially if you can immerse into the perspective of the characters. There are many even better clips, but I did not have them readily available when I made this.

  • Was looking for some good Native American movies so this was a great vid for me at just the right time. TY

  • The Only Good Indian and The Doe Boy are also great movies. Also the Mohawk woman's name is She Crosses The Water

  • I read that, but LithodidMan, why not reedit? I'm just curious, i liked your picks, some of my families most favorite. I always forget if the babys name is east wing or west wing in Green River. hahahahahhahaha

  • Sherman Alexie isn't gay, his wife from the Ft. Berthold.Indin Reservation

  • @m1sterw1zard Yes, I acknowledged this in comments and in a video annotation at the appropriate time in the video.

  • I liked the Dance Me Outside clip... I'm looking for that one first. :D

  • Please do, it is an amazing film. I think it did not get the attention it deserved both when it was new and in many reviews of Native films.

  • wut the fuck is this?

  • What?

  • where the fuck is dances with wolves and last of the mohicans?

  • @aethefox7 Not on my top 5 list! (or top 10 for that matter).

  • @aethefox7 i know right those movies kick ass

  • That Jimmie Kewakundo is gay too I know a male friend the had him around 2009 Gay Parade week....another Ricky Martin.

  • Their is a actor named Jimmie Kewakundo he is from Sasauksing.

Too bad he turned into a drunk and he got accused of trying to molest one of his kids.

  • When I am asked for the title of some of my favorite videos, Smoke Signals is always one of the first mentioned, not because it is one of my favorite Native American videos but because the video makes the viewer think about life and relationships differently than the self-interest movies produced by Big Business does. To clarify, the moral of the story of Smoke Signals is one I would recommend everyone learn from. Also, do some book reviews. I need some reputable reviews on my PlayList. Thanks.

  • i like apacalypto

  • Thanks for making that point!

  • Where can I watch Medicine River?

  • I bought it on VHS some time ago, but to the best of my knowledge is not available on DVD. It is a shame because it is a great movie!

  • Dammit! I need to watch it ASAP for a module I am doing.

  • Aaron, Sherman is married to Diane Tomhave, and he has also said before that he is in fact not gay. Thanks for the reviews.

  • Holy shmokes you are right! I seriously was told that somewhere, and never bothered to verify. I will add an annotation and apology. Thanks for letting me know!

  • I have never seen any of these of these movies. I"ll have to see if I can find them somewhere around here... or check amazon :)

Thanks for the review... was great!

  • If you can play VHS you may better luck finding some of these - Medicine River and Clearcut are not available on DVD as far as I know (although the latter can be watched in 9 parts here on YT!)

  • hehe, we have a vhs, but it doesn't work. I'll check out YT and dailymotion... have a couple other places I can check as well.

  • That was quite nice.

  • Thanks!
