  • thinking about it, i wonder what they spent that 40 000 dollars on

  • and yea the problem with this movie being scary or not too most audiences is that not everyone has an open mind and an active imagination. IMO its actually one of the best amatuer like films ive seen too date, makes paranormal activity look pitiful....

  • This movie is on Graboid Video if anyone wants too watch it, and no... graboid isnt a trojan download either guys, its a player that you download that comes with about 2000 MBs of download cap strictly for movie downloads. I watched it on there in decent quality yesterday :).

  • I always thought that the girl was being carried down the stairs by the witch, what do y'all think?

  • @rmdeezy

    Thats spooky thought

  • To be honest, I originally didn't get the ending. The guys standing there and she starts screaming and I think, "Wtf? He's just standing there. He's alive and well. What's so scary about that?" and that she collapsed out of fright XD

It wasn't until I rewatched the movie years later that I remembered the whole 'she makes one stand in the corner, then kills the other'. Only THEN did it occur to me that the Witch was actually there, and that freaked me out.

  • I think the scariest part is easily the tent-shaking scene, or any moment that the frame is all black, and you only hear things. I can see why some people aren't scared by it, but for me, this movie is one of the greatest horror films ever made; it never ceases to be chilling to the core.

  • @Guigley Even if someone wasn't scared by this movie, they'll have to admit it was perfect, How it's displayed in a form of footage and how it builds up is perfect. Not to mention the witch being more of a mysterious horror villain was great. One of the greatest movies ever made and for me it was scary. Now imagine how scary it would be if you were out in a forest.

  • @Guigley The best thing about that is that the cast genuinely didn't know what was going on - the directors did it and genuinely scared the shit out of them!

  • Rhose who dont find the movie scary or think its booring, they dont own an imagination!

  • I loved with move will someone please upload it

  • The chick at 00:12 - 00:13 should be doing porn or some shit rather than being a film critic.

I first watched this movie when I was 10 and having already grasp the concept of how police investigations are conducted. If it was real, when the film debuted at Sundance, the police involved with the case would have intervene to stop the film from being more widely released being an ongoing investigation. And that the families of the three filmmakers would have had something to say also.

  • Honestly, this is hugely overrated and not that scary, i watched it in my basement at night and slept very well I remember

  • not. scary. at. all.

  • I haven't seen Blair Witch yet, I've only seen the part where the chick had a nervous breakdown in the tent, but after watching that one scene of the dude in the corner, that just freaked the shit outta me. I have to see this movie!

  • hey everyone don't get mad at me but what part of the movie was scary? i was disappointed because i was just bored like i said don't get mad at me but i came looking for these scary scenes after watching it to see what was supposed to scare me but sorry guys this was a let down mainly because everyone told me it was so scary and well it wasn't but hey thats my opinion so if you liked it don't take offence

  • cleavage @ 0.12

  • the first time i saw it,i was all biased by the movie, and really because i was thinking it was real i didnt sleep well for about a week, the first night i didnt sleep at all lol

  • What you don't see is much scarier than what you do see.

  • i thought this movie was dumb....not very scary at all...i saw the woman on a steak n shake commercial before the movie was advertised, so i knew it wasn't real....it bored me.

  • @laceydays1 it was a good idea, tho...and a great money maker...it just could've been much scarier.

  • This was when the found footage style of filming was so new and original...now it's a genre on its own.

  • @FLIGHTCOMPANY

Run man, run for your life!!!

  • This movie is sooo freaking scary. I watched it when I was about 16, watched it again very recently at 18, and it'll probably scare me till I'm dead.

  • @imagineloveneverdies never watched it what was the scariest part?

  • @beastydrummer89 The part that freaked me out the most was probably the tent part, the sounds outside of the tent really freaked me out, especially the baby cry and the really deep voice that you hear while they're running. Pure fear for that whole scene on my end.

You should totally watch it! Just don't go camping afterwards...

  • I found the film incredibly boring! the setting etc is creepy but it wasn't scary feel it could have been so much better. But hey it made them a lot of money.

  • In other words the whole movie was a scam. They pretty much used false advertising to act like a shitty low budget movie was real in order to get people to go see it and it worked. Everyone should be able to get their money back for having been tricked into seeing this shitty ass movie.

  • The craziest scene was where they were in the tent and you could hear the leaves crackling and the kids laughing as whatever it was came in and fucked their tent over.

  • Eat a dick

  • That part gave me goosebumps D:

  • Best low budget film ive seen..but still didnt scare me

  • just the bit right at the end had my heart beating rapidly, no other film has done that to me, although i play scary games alot, just the suspense is spot on. Your willing the dam cameraman not to look lol

  • I remember being like 8 or 9 when dis movie came out and it was so boring I would fall asleep everytime she turned it on ... I fux wif 2 tho Book Of Shadows

  • @Jthrillz728 are you high? you vagina hater

  • the movie was based on a true story, some parts in the movie were fiction but it did happen

  • Comment removed

  • @davisthegamelord no it didnt. all the history , websites, and supplementary material was made for the movie. thats the "brilliant marketing" they are talking about.

  • @davisthegamelord all parts of this movie were fiction...this isnt real

  • fun fact: The camera man "Josh" in Blair Witch has a new indie film called The Lie, it screened at Sundance last year and it has gotten great reviews. Little Joshie is all grown-up. the blog bitly tells you all about it: bitly .com/ul70sA

  • So, I found out the other day this was filmed at Seneca State Park....Just yards away from me -_-

  • it was a great movie it was scary but not too scary

  • That last scene really fucked me up for life

  • Wish they would play this on Bravo this year.

    Sick of that Kardashian shit!

  • Wow people are really afraid of their own shadows in this culture. THIS made them terrified? Growing up in Brooklyn I had scarier moments just going to the corner store on a regular basis.

  • @mindstormsabrewin cool story, bro.

  • I find it funny all the people saying this movie scared them and slashers dont. So, basically NOTHING scares you and things that can really happen (nut jobs running around with machetes raping and murdering people) dont? Thats an amusing thought. This movie wasnt scary at all. Defies the laws of physics for things like ghosts and witches to be real. Nobody has to defy the laws of physics to stab you in the face with a sharp object. Just saying.

  • @theSicilianToe Of course people are still scared of getting raped and murdered, of course! But were talking about a movie here. People today don't get scared of gory slasher flicks because you SEE the killer. A person running at you with a knife is scary, of course, but try going into that house (in the clip) all by yourself at 4AM, sit down in the middle of the room, pitch black and see if YOU don't crap your pants. The things you imagine and the things you think you hear is much scarier.

  • @theSicilianToe slashers are boring as fuck , i watched a serbian film and it was lame.paranormal activity, blair witch. scared the shit outta me.

  • @KCgrunge well if paranormal activity scared you...

  • @theSicilianToe yup , i dont give a shit about gore,blood, violence etc.

  • this movie sucked. saw it in theatres - laughed the whole time. really dumb flick. the only thing it had going for it is that people thought it was real, and made me laugh more because if it were real then they wouldnt all be holding the cameras when they were being chased in the woods about to be hacked up to itty bitty pieces. theyd have dropped the cameras and ran like hell.

  • I would have preferred to have seen a glimpse of the thing that was scaring them so much, it would have made it a more frightening film for me.As it is I think it's overrated.

  • @richwicz i totally disagree. Your imagination frightens you more than anything they could show on screen

  • @Ajapam34 I'm afraid I agree with John (Halloween, The Thing, etc) Carpenter, I don't wanna use my imagination, I wanna see the monster!

  • @richwicz I actually didn't find Halloween to be very scary at all. But opinions on what's "scary" differ so much and Carpenter is a good filmmaker so I won't argue with you on that one

  • @Ajapam34 I don't find ANY horror films scary, I guess I've seen too many of them.John Carpenter is one of my favourite horror filmmakers though.

  • The BEST scary movie ever!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I saw this movie back in 99 then when on a boy scout camping trip and nearly shit my pants

  • great great movie

  • this movie was awful, it's not scary at all... It's 81 minutes long and nearly all 81 minutes is straight up swearing. Movies like that, thought realistic because its how many teenagers talk are so annoying. They say the word fuck 154 times. It's like a rob zombie film. It's just a bad movie though I would say watch it once just to say you have watched it

  • @Dpal93 word

  • ya know ppl diss this movie but lets be real, when i came out, you didn't know if it was real and people liked it. Why? because in a time of slasher films (ie movies made b4 1998) we always knew what the bad guy/killer looked like, this movie didn't let us see the witches face, only the faces of the 3 students and their 2 cameras. Making it look real-before youtube there was the blair witch D:

  • still a very creepy film, done w/no real special effects, all the horror is in your imagination, just goes to show if you tell a good story, you can keep an audience interested till the end...a classic

  • That movie scared the hell out of me...and I never get scared by movies.

  • Yeah, the ending was creepy, but that was never the scariest bit for me. What really got me was when they were being chased in the woods; they're screaming, running, and you can't see what's going on. The nail on the coffin was Heather screaming "OH MY GOD WHAT IS THAT? WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT?!" Fuckin' crapped myself.

  • I love how she says it's the highest grossing film and.....it's not

  • @showtunesrock1 no, it didn't make the sum greatest amount ever, but in terms of money returns, this film made like 5000% back on its investment. even the greatest films of all time like titanic and the Lord of the rings cant say that because they had huge budgets that equated their massive pay off. that's whats shes saying: the blair witch project made the single greatest profit from investment ever in filmaking, and there may be one or two movies in the 100 years of cinema that are even close

  • @showtunesrock1 she said most profitable, not highest grossing

  • mabey this stuff scares me more because i NEVER get scared of slashers and horror and thrillers or ANYTHING but.... THIS MOVIE SCARED THE LIVING SHIT OUT OF ME and i slept upstairs for a while.

  • @BeckEhster I'm so much more of the opposite! The slasher/horror films scare me to the point I can't sleep, but I found how much more the poster of the movie scares me more than the film itself.

  • @ohitsdaniella i forgot posting that comment and all a sudden its at the top, what the hell haha. but yeah i got ya but i dont know why this movie scared me so much its the only scary movie that ever did haha.

  • This actually made me understand the ending of that movie. Holy shit that's amazing. Movies like this are so much better than hack and slash shit. "Oh that made me jump" or "oh look at all of that gore" is never as good as "I am paralyzed with fear because I don't know what's happening"

  • I found that movie more cheesy than scary

  • @brendonuriegirl123 I bet you find jump scares brilliant? This movie is true horror

  • the creepiest part of this movie is when they find all the human stick figures that scared the shit out of me, finding those in my woods would scare the bejesus out of me

  • @ian3959 i thought it was when they get chased in the middle of the night that scared the sheeeet out of me

  • @totalba69 I know ... when you hear the little kids .... I thought it was creepy when you hear Josh screaming after he disappeared .... great movie!

  • i dont see why its so scary

  • @Norocmorth its because when the movie was in the cinema everybody think that this movie was real

  • @Norocmorth Well put yourself in that situation and it would be scary. I personally don't get scared of films but this is by far the creepiest I've ever seen-you really need to have a good imagination when watching it and should try and think through what's causing all the terror. I like the fact that you don't know if it is a witch or a group of unstable hillbilly's terrorizing the students. Just the thought of what someone or something is doing to Josh in the forest is just creepy as hell.

  • @doctorwho295

The commentary on the dvd of the blair witch is really good. They tell you how all the little effects were made and fights that you saw on video actually happened between the three actors. They fought a lot and Mike actually hit heather and the film crew had to come out of the woods to get them to stop. You should listen to the commentary.

  • Wow, that dude directed Cabin Fever? HE'S SO YOUNG!

  • THE SEQUEL DOESN'T EXIST.

  • type in on google Book of Shadows: Blair Witch 2 watch

  • @supershmap, I know there's a sequel. XD

  • @Kari166 but it sucks tho

  • @supershmap, which is why I said that "it doesn't exist".

  • @harpbass4life Paranormal Activity was not actually based on any real events lol

  • I still find this movie to be ultimately one of the scariest movies ever made in film history. But yes, I thought it was actually real after first watching it by myself. It's amazing what a movie can do to people. It really is.

  • Paranormal Activity, Cloverfield, Blair Witch Project all very low budget films that even outprofits many Hollywood flicks

  • @seth5220 Cloverfield used a lot of special effects though, which probably made them spend more then Paranormal Activity and the Blair Witch Project

  • i think what made the blair witch ending better is that it was in black and white!

  • I must be the only one who thinks that this movie is dumb

  • @VLBlair Nope I thought it sucked too!

  • @jskf622

how did it suck? and dont give me that bullshit "you never see the witch! nothing happens!!!!111one" excuse you just hate this movie because its cool for pseudo film snobs to hate it

  • @shadow6543 Nothing really happened that I would really call "Scary". You also mean to tell me that those two filmmakers really turned up dead? Totally Fake! At least Psyco(1960) and Night of the Living Dead(1967) had some ideas on a small budget. What did blair witch have???

  • @shadow6543

I actually liked we didn't get to see the witch. It added to the scare. Unlike Paranormal Activity where they ruined everything at the ending showing us the demon.

  • @VLBlair No you're not. I just found the movie dumb and I hated the people in it. Paranormal Activity is a good one that is a "Based on True Events" though

  • @harpbass4life

Your dumb if you think Paranormal activity was a true event. Hello there actors. Do some research. Hell you can find them doing interviews on you tube for crying out loud

  • @johnnyfive22 That's what the quotes were for. I was attempting sarcasm but it's difficult to do while typing.

  • I thought that this movie was brilliant, totally playing off the "less is more" idea perfectly. But what made it really awesome was actually really horrible for the actors. Not only was the audience unsure about what was real, they hardly told the actors anything. Most of the reactions are genuine fear, and apparently after they filmed the last scene, the actress couldn't stop crying and hyperventilating for about an hour.

  • I agree - the movie is brilliant at what it does. Anyone who cant be caught up in the horror has no mind.

  • @latieplolo

Yeah From the commentary on the dvd they actually fought a lot too and some of the fighting in the movie was actually real and not acting.Besides the map part.

  • Why the hell did they show the ending of the movie in this clip. It's so disrespectful both for the filmmakers and to the public who might want to watch this story for the first time.

  • @polybubu4 Good point dude! Never thought of that.

  • @polybubu4 because it is the only scary part in the film and this is the 100 scariest moments in horror history they want to show the scariest part of the film

  • @polybubu4 problem?

  • haha it was freaking retarded. i cant believe this made any list period

  • My mom had to explain this movie to me ... IT SCURRED ME !

  • paranormal activty is the most profitable now though the whole film cost 15'000 =]

  • hey pause at 2:10 exatcly and you kind of see a face... well i see one anyway

  • Ahhh, this bit was so scary. I always think, oh, maybe they should have shown more in BWP, but it couldn't have been scarier than that, you know?

  • if anyone wants to know a fact, my uncle actually went to the woods in Maryland where the blair witch project was filmed.

  • @adamchabbi6 Shit man what happened??

  • @bobdy9988 nothing happened to him, he's still alive today. Also, the actors who "died" in the movie was all pretend like any other film. All he told me was that he visited the actual woods in Maryland where they filmed the blair witch project, but nothing happened when he was there.

  • I remember watching this movie early in the morning and when it got to the end where she was screaming her lungs out it woke up my grama and she thought it was someone outside screaming. LOL.

  • The reason he's probably standing like that is he's probably been killed by the Blair Witch and is now slumping on the wall.

  • This scene scares the shit out of me every time. Probably my favorite movie ending ever.

  • Great way to mix up facts. It wasn't the witch who sent the children into a corner, it was the man who lived in the cabin.

  • Jaapengel79 im confused about the part where they pass the log theyv already crossed. Wouldnt that be a good thing to find somewhere theyv been before so they can backtrack

  • Shitty actors

  • I think the scariest part of that movie is where they keep walking north for hours and pass the same spot twice.. I mean.. seriously.. I'd break!

  • I thought this film was extremely scary, I didn't show anything at all and created a very tense atmosphere and a "this could be real" feel to it.

  • they could have shown the witch, they showed the shark in jaws and JAWS IS SCARY

  • This movie was one of the biggest disappointments for me when I watched it in the theater. It wasn't even remotely scary.

  • The entire show is on Google Video and some guys Myspace, which is able to be found using Google Video. No, really, it's all there.

  • Great series, except the part they show here isn't even the scariest part in the movie.

  • @fangbanger31 Will it be a torrent or direct download?

  • holy fuck i remember the first time i watched this as a kid thinking it was based on a true story...really had a hard time playing outside after that considering i lived in the middle of nowhere lol

  • Watch Blair Witch Project if u wanna hear 1 hour of screaming ;D

  • Felissa Rose is so fine!

  • ITs not scary untill you really think about it.

  • 1:11-1:17: "We never saw the boogeyman in that movie.....we only saw what was happening"

Which is one of the main problems with the movie. You see nothing, and not alot happens.

I agree with the Family Guy parody of it.

  • @MrPsyxxx What you can imagine is much worse than anything that can be put on screen.

  • @tonyAJ420

Yes, but if I am given no hint as to what there is to imagine, and I watch the entire film - like most people did, more than once - then the second time I watch it I know it's pointless because at no point is the threat ever realised - which means, like many parodies of it I've watched, I'm just watching a bunch of teenagers screaming and running about.

  • @MrPsyxxx You are, in fact, given a hint as to what to imagine is killing them.

Here's the hint: It's a witch. It's in the title. We never see the witch, because seeing her would ruin the entire point of the movie and kill the true, terrifying effect that has caused this movie to endure.

Though, I might be missing your point. If you can't imagine a witch, watch the Wizard of Oz and then picture the wicked witch killing the teenagers. Had Blair Witch ended like that, it would've sucked.

  • @NaveNinja

Yeah, dude, don't take a sarcastic, condescending and undeservedly superior tone -

My criticism of the film is a valid one, as it's one that many others have stated, and also many critics, including Mark Kermode, say, have mocked the film for it's over-the-top acting, and a lack of a denouement.

Now, if you want me to "go and imagine something", then I'd be quite happy to go dream up a film which is actually scary, especially so the second time you watch it.

  • @MrPsyxxx You don't need to watch a horror movie twice and still be scared by it. If it scared you the first time, good for you, the movie did its job. If not, and if you didn't like it, don't watch it again. Nobody ever forced you to watch this movie a second time, or any other time beyond that. You made the choice, so why complain? Also, you can quit using argumentum ad populum. Just because some people don't like the movie as well doesn't make you right.

  • @NaveNinja

I'm not appealing to the masses, if anything it's closer to an appeal to authority - which you might argue is a flawed argument also,

but be aware that your argument also works in the other direction, that; just because many people agree with your opinion, doesn't make your opinion true, also.

  • @MrPsyxxx I'm not talking about other people, I'm comfortable enough with my own opinion without having to bring up English film critics' opinions. My point is that if the movie didn't scare you, there's little point in complaining about how it's not scary on multiple viewings. Just don't watch it again if the movie doesn't do it for you. There's plenty of other horror movies out there of differing styles and genres and plenty of scares to be had. I'd recommend The Thing if you haven't seen it.

  • @NaveNinja

I accept you have a fair point there -

as for The Thing, by John Carpenter - yes, I did enjoy that movie. Stylistically it had some very original and inventive scenes.

  • @MrPsyxxx Yes, I enjoyed it very much so as well. A prequel is in the works, unfortunately. It'll most likely replace all the amazing special effects of the original (puppets, props, masks and actual liquids) with CGI.

    A shame.

  • he's just taking a piss leave him alone

  • its awesome to show this movie to a friend thats never seen it, and tell them it's real. It makes it so much scarier

  • No where near as good as Cannibal Holocaust

  • This movie annoyed me way too much. I was so happy that whatever it was they were looking for finally shut her up in the end.

  • 00:14, hahaha,true!!

  • My father though it was real. XD

  • @sepeeler Honestly, 95% of the people did. Because before it came out, there was news about it and everything, MTV even had a lil memorial type thing to them after it came out lol. Then a few months later there on TV doin interviews and shit

  • to me, this made the woods in my city seem so much creepier

  • I have the entire show I am working on it lol

  • @fangbanger31 where can you get this on dvd?

  • @fangbanger31 PLEASE HURRY!

  • @fangbanger31 what's the movie with I think it's Albert Brooks . he plays a serial killer.. A loner who travels.. I can't think of the name of it..

  • Some one should upload this entire show!

  • @csiwannabe001

Many people have tried over the years, but because of Youtube's stupid strict copyright laws, almost no one is ever allowed to do so. They either delete or block all the content after a week or so and then the person's account. Fucking ridiculous.

  • Eli Roth! The bear jew!

  • I wasn't scared as I was watching it, but god, the after effect. My dorm window is right by a bunch of trees XD

  • Amazing movie. The thing is, it's only scary if you have an imagination, so all the morons who don't find it scary at all don't surprise me.

  • This movie is SO overrated.

  • 2:06 wow wat a great way to spoil the movie for everyone

  • @Tredoltle Then don't stare at the screen, moron.

  • @TheMiltonLopez errr...

    1. i didnt know that'll come up.

    2. I've already watched the movie

    3. How am i a moron?

    4. How can I just suddenly not stare at the screen when watching a video?

    5. I think you're the moron

    6. STFU
