Actually, it can be about religion if you want it to be. That is because this song is talking about how your "more that skin and bones" when you believe that someone out there cares about you and makes you more. Whether that is Jesus, God or the homeless cat lady that craps in your lawn in the shape of a heart, it dont matter. Its all about who you view that cares for you that makes you more than what you are. So, technically if that is God for me then to me, it is a religous song.
