He wasn't insane, he just chose not to live in reality. Which isn't so bad, seeing as reality kinda sucks, generally.

At the end he did something like in the movie 'The Usual Suspects" he used everything the doctor told him in their sessions together to convince the judge he was sane. If you notice the last part of his story about him calling the magazine and getting the model's # and she refusing him came from a story the doc had told him about someone else that's why the doc kinda of sat up when he heard it.

Running around screaming ,playing done to death figures,rags to riches stories or handicaps?The movie is not great, infact ,but for the actors,it would be a third grade one. I think that he just took a pill so that he believed what they told him was the truth. But he only did that to get out. But he went beack to his normal ways when he got out and when he went ot that island Donna Anna was waiting for him. What he said was true, people were just stupid and didn't believe him. IDk, but that's what I think.

This movie is BRILLIANT.

He had so much tragedy in his life, he created something in his mind to take away from the pain of his father in the film, and his place.

Though he hooked up with a lovely lady at start, he needed Dr. M to sorta figure things out for him, and a father figure too.

He was normal, he finally left the nasty queens which he hated and The Dr sorta took him under his wings.
