The Librarian was one day transformed into an orang-utan(An occupational hazard of working around so many magic books) and has resisted all attempts to turn him back, going as far as to remove his name and all traces of his former self from the University records. He kept his job because there is no rule barring an orang-utan from the University staff, though the seniour faculty tried very hard to find one.
Plus, being able to unscrew someone's head with your leg makes a compelling argument.
Yeah....... ahum.... So what your saying is L-Space is a method of time travel only avalible to libraians? oOH Ooh And that explaining it would be too complicated to explain to me and is only understandable when spoken monkey?
I thought so.
I dont have one ape. Ape, ape on, upon my person, phew I didnt say moneky...
Rincewind was hit by the librarian because of his cracks on "monkeys". As an orang-utan, the librarian is easily able to beat seven kinds of crap out of you. So Rincewind feels as if he had been overrun by a cart. As carts are the Discworld version of trucks, this is a pun on "Did you get the number of the truck that hit me?"
In the book Rincewind is one of the Librarian's oldest friends, since before he was turned into a mo--ape. In fact the wizards have to summon Rincewind to discover the librarian's real name in The Last Continent.
Wrong there. He DOES appear to take Brutha, Vorbis and some of the other characters - like the commander who plots to kill Vorbis and fails. Damn, he even takes the soul of a SHIP into the afterlife, completely with vessel, sailors and rats and everything! Hilarious passage when the sailors decide which afterlife they want to sail on to. How could you have overlooked that? ;)
yeah well the main thing i remember about small gods in the freakin' awesome tortoise, and the bit with the insane guy who lives on a pole in the desert
I thought the Luggage should have sicced itself on the Librarian after maybe the third SMACK.

books=knowledge
Knowledge=power
power x time = energy
So the power of the books over time creates magical energy. and that's L-Space.
