this was a really good interview, i'd always wondered why he had 'cheated' on him at the end of BM, but now i understand a bit more, put my mind at ease a little ha, jake gyllenhaall seems like a great person + great actor....

The only thing i didn't understand about the movie is why Jack was beaten to death, because his wife didn't know that he was fooling around with Ennis. Can someone help me out.

I personally feel that because Jack planned to leave his wife, move near his parents with a man to ranch with him, that his step father got wind and had him murdered. She knew that he did not die from a blown out tire.... when she told heath's character about how Jack died, she did not seem sad or pained. She was only sad to know that jack and him seemed super close and had been intimate.

i think its cos the people that beat jack to death somehow knew because the guy that was the head of the place ennis and jack worked at told a lot of people, because he saw them two fooling around down brokeback. so eventually, i think that jacks wife found out through 'gossip'. thats just how i read the movie, hope it helped :), ask me if how i wrote it doesnt make sense.

@Anna070794 Jack's wife found out through the phone conversation with Ennis, and what was said. Ennis told her that they worked together on Brokeback Mountain, a place she didn't realize even existed in reality. Then, when she said he wanted this ashes spread there, and it was his favorite place, it hit her. You can here her intake her breath and make a little "OMG" noise.

We don't actually know what happened to Jack, but that makes the movie more interesting, IMO>

Great interview. The interviewer had great questions and Jake showed that he has actually thought about his character. IMHO, Jake Gyllenhaal is what a real actor should be, someone who is really dedicated to telling a story, not just in it for the fame.

I've just counted, and it's at least 41 of "You know,"s by Jake. Something between 41 and 45, he sometimes repeats it directly after he says it two or more times.

Reminds of the famous "You know, it could be like this, just like this, always..."

Why didn't Ennis and Jack try to involve Alma into there meetings, just drink coffee together and not leave her completely alone???

I think, if they would have been honest to her, she would understand and they could possibly "adopt" Jack in their home as godfather of their girls. Jack would be a great help with all the hard work, and Ennis would be happy and Alma would have two best men in the world living in her house, at least one of them still loving her deeply. Why not??????

Oh yes, very well prepared interviewer. Jake seemed to like him too, didn't he? So much new information gained through it.

And absolutely no shallow questions you usually hear in BBM interviews. Clear, everyone is most of all impressed by the overwhelming love scenes, but you can always see kind of disapproval in Jake's face when people focus only on those physical effects.

Man that interviewer came prepared. He had some very introspective and thought provoking questions that even raised questions in MY head that I hadn't thought about before. Kudos to him. Also to Jake for answering them so well.

I know some of those questions really spun me! I was like "What the hell is polarity?!?". Thank god he ain't just pretty, or this interview would have been tough to sit through. Still it really does show the regional standards for intellect in interviews when you compare this to Juliana Ransick yapping shrill questions about people's sex lives.

That channel's pure fluff--I mean for God sakes their main source of entertainment is dumb celebutant reality shows. You could find quality interviews such as this one in other American sources, I'm sure.
