Vertical (Lambo) doors are necessary for any late model Corvette. You've probably never had a passenger open their door and scrape the side of a curb with the bottom of the door like my girl did one day in downtown L.A. "Lambo" doors are not standard on Corvettes, but they should be. And yes, some Lambos DO still come with vertical doors. Where you DON'T need them is on cars that have enough ground clearance. As for this C5, I hate the graphics, rims and wing. Truly awful!

And that in the mid 90's ...japanese and european cars didn't use this WW2 technology since the 60's... no offense, the corvette looks great, but is technical inferior to a Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo, or Maserati....
