Thanks for uploading this man. What program did you use to make this sheet music? Did you manually make the sheet music (write the notes, etc.), or do it some other way (like play it on a digital piano and the program transcribed it to sheet music)?
Knowing absolutely nothing about reading music myself, please tell me, Tatum's piece must have been crafted like a Swiss watch. The intricacy of this composition must be a challenge to even the most accomplished of pianists, am I worng?
Thanks for your comment.I greatly admire everything Art puts down, but in my opinion I think this peice was invented to catch the ear of a listening audience that was not familiar with his genius. For him it was a simplified swing riff that he probably put together in 10 minutes.Believe it or not this peice would be a lot easier to play than his other works. When Art played with his trio he played to have fun.I think it was an effort to make him popular to a larger audience.
Great transcription. I've always loved "Tiny's Exercise" and this is the first transcription I've ever seen. Is Tiny's guitar playing a third away from Art or is Art playing in thirds? Hope all is well. Best, Adam
Yes, to put down them 3rd's nice & smooth takes some practice. Your right on the 10th's. I actually did'nt hear them on my recorded copy but seen Art playing them on the video(?),so I put them in the last minute. I do believe he plays them an octave higher.Good observation. Also good to hear from you. How is life in Japan?Hope all is well.
I think you should start doing what Keeper1st dose immediately! Try to get as many people to download this piece in PDF form as possible before any company does claim it; thou I'm pretty sure you'd win in any copyright court case.
Don't worry! I live in L.A. and my Charter School Founder used to be a lawyer.
What I mean is to do like what Keeper1st did and hopefully still does. Search: Yoshi's Island athletic theme, sight-read by Tom Brier & Co. You you'll see the Portable Document File score somehow made publicly available. You should ask him how you can do the same.
Like I said, this "Exercise" or Exercises, were never thought to be desired by the public, thus never claimed by any music company (or at least the I know if), I'd be careful with any Tatum piece, but I see what your saying.

Your right,to play it exactly like he did would be very difficult. We sure can appreciate his natural ability.

Hello, Youtube didin't alert me your video upload...omg
Notes are simple but rather hard to play..
Left hand tenth around 0:34-0:39 seems to be octave upper.
Tatum's tapping(?)left leg(look carefully his jacket is swinging) in the video is impressive.
