@tehowe That is a strong response to Brook's position in this video, I like it. But I have to say I went the other way on it: I thought he presented a clear case for the Objectivist view. Though I may not have agreed completely, I found myself nodding my head *quite* a bit. Also, your comment about Peikoff stepping down from ARI is close to what I'd have to say about it. Brook may be the lesser of the two minds; I find myself agreeing with Peikoff much more frequently on issues.
You people make me sick. You have no idea what your twisted philosophy is doing to the world. Greed at any cost to your "workers" and the environment. In order to maintain this status quo you put even more pressure on employees in order to keep them in a state of survival so they lose their own creativity. The suppression of technology and medical knowledge because it is more profitable to treat a chronic condition than cure it. There is no profit in "cheap" energy.
*Sigh* Yaron almost succeeds in making me ashamed to be an Objectivist. Happily I can read and think for myself, and I unambiguously reject his positions on militarism and torture. He's either horribly uninformed on the nature of the expanding wars, the merger of corrupt corporations with the state and BP's crimes in the gulf - or he's guilty of intellectual deception. In either case, he does a great disservice to Rand's work and I dropped my support for ARI once Peikoff stepped down.
"Is liable for damage to people's income, people's ability to fish, to the tourist industry... to creating a much more toxic environment for the next generation."
Whoa, take it easy with that collectivism there. Get back to talking about profit margins.
@hyperseauton Market prices serve to coordinate the remaining supply of oil with the desire to consume oil. If oil starts to run out, prices will rise forcing the usage of currently marginal reserves such as the oil in Canadian shale as well as stimulating the desire for research into potentially cheaper forms of energy and making existing forms of alternative energy (solar, electric, nuclear) far more economical than they presently are.
I know! And if prostitutes were greedier, they would want to suck your dick for the protein content of your semen. But they pass up on that precious resource because they're not as business minded.

Obama has made a mess 1000 times worse than BP.

No, Yaron, use Ayn Rand's philosophy. Think.
BP's LACK OF GREED helped make this disaster happen. That oil is liquid gold. For BP to be so careless is certainly lack of proper greed.

the Gov capped their liability. How much money would you have spent on safety?
Enough of enough is how much. You wouldn't go the extra mile that having full responsibility would have encouraged
BP acted on exactly the incentives given to it. Had nothing to do with carelessness or greed

Your thoughts are genius. I'm HEADing over to my local whores to spread your idea.

@RodCornholio The 'happening' is not the issue, it's about how it is being dealt with that is under discussion.
