  • She openly sings about how she loves satan and cant live without him.

  • This song is one of those that really moves me.I love it.I can remember listening to it whilst camping up in the Victorian high country on a crackling tape deck where we couldn't get any radio reception.Beautiful song.!

  • Demonic, who'd sing about a "misguided angel" ? Why bring attention to fallen beings?

Stop eating from the sewer and give Glory to the God of Issac, Jacob, and Abraham! Father of Christ

  • No hidden meanings , no Satanic Verses , no Sympathy for the goddam' Devil here , just a li'l ditty 'bout us badass Canadian rednecks and the women who love us . Gotta like it!

  • Trinity Session reminds of music from Joni Mitchell 's Hejira album

  • my sweetheart is dying

  • I worked on this one.

  • @tontokurt lol

  • This song just touches my soul! I lost my wife last Spring n the Joplin tornadoes.

It reminds me of where we last lived and the promises life promised at that time. I now know that places,m things and monetary things are not so important. I miss you, Gina!

  • I listened to this album almost constantly while recovering from a failed suicide attempt which involved me stepping in front of a pick-up truck on the interstate going 65 MPH when I was 19. I was deeply in love and my life fell apart, my love was leaving. This song in particular, helped me feel less alone in my pain while I spent a year having surgeries and learning how to walk again.

  • I know how it is to be in love with one..and to stay with one. And this song touch my heart so much and make me miss him..even I left him.

  • audio morphien

  • Its what i call listen some chill out at home...

  • Trinity Session and Caution Horses were the two best albums of the Cowboy Junkies!

  • OMG, she is so hot.

  • Vineyard days....X

  • five people need to grow up

  • Michael Timmins is an under-rated lyricist.

  • "Well it's in the way he walks, it's in the way he talks

His smile, his anger, and his kisses"

  • it does make you cry. I was driving from SF to Sacramento with the Setting Sunset and this song moved me so much I had to stop for being unable to keep driving with so many tears on my face. She does have a powerful voice. She is a gifted singer. Kudos

  • I listened to this song because it's the namesake for Melissa de la Cruz's book 'Misguided Angel' in the Blue Bloods series. The lyrics to the chorus are in the epigraph of the book. :) I've come to love it very much!

  • The entirety of this group's catalogue surely grants them a place of significance on one of Dante's rings of Hell. For unwitting listeners who are are currently in the sway of full blown "Cowboy Junkie" mind control, an exorcism is almost certainly required. I suggest the priestly radiance that is George Michael, singing "Wake Me Up Before You Go Go". It's proven a "cure-all" in ridding weak minds of the scourge of simpering, simply unbearable 'Merchants of doom, drek and depression."

  • i disliked this

  • CANADA...soulful land.

  • Avis à tous les Parisiens : Cowboy Junkies se produisent à Paris (c'est exceptionnel !) au Divan du Monde le 8 novembre 2011. Ne pas rater !

  • One of my favorite songs!

  • Greatest song on the best album by a simply awesome group. Simply is the right word; go to any show and Margo will spend time afterwards with all of the fans. Peter is super shy but extremely polite and generous. I love not only their music, but them also. They are genuinely nice.

  • im a unbeliever but these type of songs hit me in the gut always.

  • @bubbah671 Thats why we listen to it...feels good to belive if only a moment or two

  • I only wish.

  • This song still brings tears to my eyes... I can almost feel her breath on my ear as she sings the chorus during our last dance together. 16 years since she... passed. She called me her misguided angel. She feared my capacity for violence, admired my sense of honour and loved my willingness to defend anybody who could not defend themselves. The last line hurts, since I can (and do) still love her, but she cannot love me back.

  • @ProudlyMadeInCanada Well take solice in the fact that you loved her till she passed...that is a devotion unlike any other...but i bet she was worth it..Hold that high...and I know what you mean in hearing her breath and voice and for me so much is remebering when we touched...it was all that combined that made me feel both the way i always wanted but vulnerable at the same time...just wish I was strong enough to deal with the second feeling when I was lucky enough to have the first

  • @ProudlyMadeInCanada Touching comment, sorry for your loss.

  • @ProudlyMadeInCanada You just made me cry man!

  • @ProudlyMadeInCanada ............. Love is eternal and never dies.....she still loves you yesterday today and tomorrow...Be Well :)

  • @ProudlyMadeInCanada

This is sad for you and I am sory, She was a great women. You were lucky to have here.

  • @ProudlyMadeInCanada Damn, you did it again! (I cried again when I read your post for the second time... it's so, so heartbreaking...) Thanks buddy and all the best...

  • This song just popped in my head in the bath. I love it. Sticks with you all your life. :)

  • @grrrlshawn Indeed, it's the first song along with Blue Moon that I remember my father showing me. They've remained till this day to be one of my favorite songs.

  • no sabia que la vocalista era tan guapa coño!

  • @65dfincher i found him...& its killing me. that's why i wanted to hear this. it reminds me so much of him. i watch him fight his fights, i know how much he loves me, there's nothing i can do.

  • What a luciferien song!!!!

  • @Pavelescu100

Got to agree there. How does one have a "heart like Gabriel" ("pure and white as ivory") but a "soul like Lucifer" (black and cold like a piece of lead)?

  • Yo Slim Shady... love is patient, and kind etc etc... xox gosh i love u even more after all them lives a blink behind this one... *sigh... xox

Yes, i see Leigh Bowery ("papa") in some of ShadyLady's ways...let's face it ... if Eminem were a drag queen he'd be the biggest loudest proudest homo on earth; flamboyant & insanely creatively talented like the fashion designer he is either way

: Leigh Bowery did for transvestitism what Marshall did for hip hop (goy beorge is a retard wannabe)

  • The Trinity Session is on my short list of one of the top ten releases in my life time!

  • How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! [how] art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! You said in your heart, "I will ascend to heaven; I will raise my throne above the stars of God; I will sit enthroned on the mount of assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred mountain. I will ascend above the tops of the clouds; I will make myself like the Most High." Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit. Isaiah

  • Love this song love this band. I hope to see them in concert again real soon!!

  • this song is so real...shes not singing about a lazy bum ha u dont get it.....i dont know if u should wish this love on anyone but if u make its so worth having

  • this song is so real...

  • Tears fall.

  • @gary "u fools this = a song 2 Satan, they even call him… Lucifer" Um, no. It's called "poetry." Each word isn’t meant literally. They’re called "simile," "metaphor," "irony," & "allusion." There r great sites on the web that explain it all. They say if yr only tool = a hammer, everything looks like a nail. If yr religion = the only way u deal w/ life, everything looks like a Bible story. But that's not how most of us work. But I won’t b rude & call u "fool" 4 not knowing this.
  • @tamerswan sweet jane is great and so is river waltz...and tam all I can say is thank god for those of you that do understand, be well, be happy

  • Misguided Angel ...Rest in Peace+ Chick. 02/07/51- 05/09/88

  • @tamerswan Gee, I'm a fat ol boy from FLA and I first heard this 30++ yrs ago and understood it on the spot. It's not a girl thing it is a state of mind and a choice of how to live.

  • On the album the song is half a minute longer than this video. Strange.

  • Much thanks for this one!!!!!

  • I remember when this was on heavy rotation on Muchmusic

  • I was in a pretty good mood. Then I listened to this song and my mood just went right downhill into depression. This is really horrible depressing music.

  • @SarahRachel59 you're just a dumb cunt ain't ya /

  • @andreisimion1000 No, I'm not a dumb cunt. Thanks for asking.

  • @SarahRachel59 well you do a seriously convincing impression of one.

  • @MrsSippingWhiskey No, saying that listening to a song made me depressed is not being a "dumb cunt". Calling me a dumb cunt for that actually makes you the dumb cunt. That means you, that means andreisimion as well. wtf is wrong with you vicious apes?

  • @SarahRachel59 - wasn't asking , simply making a statement - had you posted " in my humble opinion this is really horrible depressing music" I would've said " in my opinion you're a dumb cunt " ; you didn't so I didn't , we all got a right to an opinion . I hope your mood improves soon , let me know .

  • @andreisimion1000 Jeez, enough with the trolling already.

  • @SarahRachel59 No idea what that means - up here , in the True North , Strong and Free we only troll for salmon and codfish ; what I'm doing is sweet-talking you !

  • @SarahRachel59 How is it depressing? It is simply about a delusional dummy who is trying to convince herself she in love with an underemployed, exceedingly well hung, criminally inclined moron.

  • margo , is just the best in terms of communication of her brothers writing - pure and perfect !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! too bad im not seeing more of them

  • the reason i listened to this, is because of melissa's de la cruz

misguided angel. Anyone else reading her books? thumbs up if you are.

  • BEAUTIFUL....

  • not only was all the music done in one take but they only used one microphone to record the entire thing

  • @squeekybluecheese Contrary to popular myth, the album was not entirely recorded in one day. In the hustle of the first recording session, the band forgot to record "Mining for Gold". Margo and Moore recorded the song a few days later during the Toronto Symphony Orchestra's lunch break.

  • @doubleder i had never even heard about that, we just talked about this album in my audio engineering class because of the way they recorded with the one mic.

  • Lolz I found this song from the blue bloods book misguided angel :)

  • beautiful

  • The accordian player on this track is a friend of mine.

  • esta mulher á tem mais de 40 anos...fantástica.

  • Handymandan I for one don't need some damn authority figure telling me what to do, I left my parents and grew up I suggest you do the same stop asking permission to be alive and waiting impatiently to die. You religious types really get me you need fairy stories and a goodnight kiss to make you world okay. Well it's not okay and your father figure doesn't exist so get over it.

  • @shane013a Don't even bother replying to those religious freaks. God is real, but these tossers need to add there own opinion on what the song means, warp it and share there stupid meanings! I't makes them feel they are wise to all that is said and happends in this world. Never blame God for the shit that comes out of there judgemental heads, they are human like the rest of us and use their time to make people hate God, and cause SHIT.I undersand your anger, but don't give them the attension.

  • The only abortion here is your interpretation of events. That is an abortion.

  • Does it really matter what this song is about. In the tradition of classic lyrics it is the various images that are so beautifully conjured up to various listeners that make this stand out from the sing a long I love you's that clog up the airwaves.

  • Wow! I've never heard this song without the last few seconds before. That is, with the singing being the last thing you hear. And whadayaknow, it WORKS!! Sweet! Oh, and this is Cowboy Junkies' best song, bar none.

  • You fools this is a song to Satan, they even call him by name Lucifer. He is a loser and will be destroyed.

  • @garyzw umm... no. I do believe you're over-siplifying. Read the lyrics online to find out why I say this

  • @handymandan100

Satan is a Misguided Angel--I have read the Lyrics and they describe Satan.

  • @garyzw ,,correction. He can't be. He is the first and foremost misguid-ING angel. You can't be fooled if you're the fool-ER.

  • Comment removed

  • @garyzw It is not a song to Satan. She is describing a lover to her family members and speaking of the contradiction in his personality. Before she mentions Satan she mentions Gabriel. Despite his flaws she loves him.

  • @Yevkasem1417

How easily people are deceived now days.

  • @garyzw Good grief, get over your fearmongering nonsense. I grew up in the Christian church and am still a pricticing Christian but this kind of garbage is just that...garbage! What makes you an authority on the meaning. Some wednesday night gathering with a bunch of bookburners playing songs backwards and making up some kind of mssg.

  • @FXMAN66 What the hell are you talking about? That fag gary is just a blockhead but you are not too much better. How is the doosh 'fearmongering'? He is just stating that he thinks it is a song that describes Satan. Who burns books and plays songs backwards anymore, anyway?

  • @chelseagurl97 What the hell are you talking about? I was actually referring to the post by smartalek1 to Gary when Gary stated the song was addressing satan. Go read the original post idiot. Wait, I will bring the post to you...""u fools this = a song 2 Satan, they even call him… Lucifer" I was agreeing with smartalek in regards that not everything should be turned into some scary message in a song. You obviously misunderstood. U a bitter sounding bitch!

  • @chelseagurl97 What the hell are you talking about? I was actually referring to the post by smartalek1 to Gary when Gary stated the song was addressing satan. Go read the original post idiot. You obviously misunderstood. U a bitter sounding bitty!

  • @chelseagurl97 Bitch was a little harsh so I adjusted accordingly. As for who burns books anymore...You are not too familiar with what still goes on in the world are you? Big difference it are the Bibles getting burned now.

  • @FXMAN66 Well what am I, a bitch or a bitty?Way to let Christ shine through yourself by calling those stationed above you bitches, bitter bitties and idiots. You must be a contemporary 'Christian' who does no worldly good for anyone, running around reaching out to Muslims trying to impress them with how tolerant you are, and your church probably feeds maggoty panhandlers when it should be organizing a crusade or leading a parade of flagellants through town.

  • @FXMAN66 And if the burnt Bibles are anything but the grand KJV, Im glad.

  • @Yevkasem1417 @garyzw @handymandan100 You are all wrong. This song is about abortion.

  • @Yevkasem1417 A 'lover.' Thats one way of putting it.

  • @garyzw The lyrics are metaphors for a Good girl/ bad boy attraction. Good grief everyone.

  • my all time favorite song

  • They will pay for this...

  • @baseman9002 Seen them twice--they are great. Margo has an amazing stage presence.

  • bella!

  • to all the misguided angels out there...if you find her who understands this song...hold her close because if you lose her you may not be able to replace her...and you all know this is is what we need... hold love close ...it's worth it

  • Comment removed

  • @someguy2099 So, so true I did find mine but lost her.

  • @pinkjava72 It is the way sometime huh...but never forget what you found, even if you didnt do what you should have to hold on to her ....if you remeber her and her love...then that is somthing...and that will always be right

  • @someguy2099

I am a "her who understands this song". I didn't plan it and when the pain became too strong, I almost forgot that I started out to be a tender-hearted, loving and gentle woman who wanted only to believe in the good in the "misguided angel" I loved beyond measure. I am a "her who wishes she didn't understand this song" but I am grateful for the strength God gave me to hold strong in what I knew to be true. It IS indeed, a beautiful song with a powerful meaning.

  • @SilkenCountry Silk....you are a jewel

  • @someguy2099 Thank you for your sweet compliment. It made me smile. I hope life is kind to you always...

  • @someguy2099

so so true my friend. I once had that good girl many years ago........but being young and naive..........I didn't realise how precious it was what I had...........'til it was gone.

  • @Paddyllfixit funny how it still knocks you down huh bro....

  • @someguy2099-Your wisdom speaks to the pain, passion & need in a woman's heart & soul. As the Misguided Angel, painful love we had but my love just wasn't enough. They say, "Better to have loved than not at all." I say, don't waste precious time. He died & left me with nothing, would never let me have his child. After 3 years of devastation & isolation, I found my true angel but will never share the joy of bearing his child. Our tragedy, as it's too late for me. My regret, unselfish love.

  • @TheRealCrimsonSorrow Well I can not speak for any man but myself...and I know with all my faults I would not be the man I AM now..(even though far to many times I am lonely)... I became a better man because the gift that is a womens love was giving to me, I bear the scars from being a misguided one both inside and out....funny how comforting vice is but how painfull wanting more is...as I said if i find "HER" again I will not let her go

  • for you nathan bro ,, im hearing you today loud and clear ,,,

  • I just noticed, her voice reminds me of Joni Mitchell's (and the tone of the song is like Mitchell, too). I loved this song the first time I heard it about 20 years ago, when I was 15. It speaks a truth about love between man and woman, from the woman's side. Not the story of everyone, but a real and profound love story, nonetheless.

  • If there is a god I know he understands !

  • ... "it's in the way he walks, the way he talks, his smile, his anger and his kisses" , ... one of the greatest lyrics i have ever heard!!!

  • Junkies are up there with Neil, Joni and Leonard for their contribution to the Canadian songbook. This song makes me want to smile and cry at the same time.

  • I'm going to see them in concert tonight! woot!

  • keep on rockin' CJ's!!!!

  • goosebumps....I forgot... then just remembered how much I love this song

  • I love this song more than I can express. It's one of the prettiest melodies I've ever heard. And I have been secretly in love with Margo Timmins for 20 years. I think their show at the Beacon in New York in 1992 with John Prine is the best I ever saw.

  • @tmbg1968

"I have been secretly in love with Margo Timmins for 20 years"

    Haha...

Yeah, me too... well, not too secretly.

    That voice is like Heaven!

  • Sometimes... I am so glad I am sober because the past can just creep up on me like a monkey on my back.. And this girl doesnt deal with fucking monkeys anymore

  • Quite lovely.

  • @SouthernBelleSmiles it tells a sad story

  • Wow, I forgot how much I loved this. Gorgeous.

  • We're just a band that likes this music. We're just looking to be heard, if you would actually take the time to listen one of our songs on our channel and comment, we would really appreciated it, since you're here and if you like this music you already listen to some great music on our opinion. Thanks Peace.

  • My favorite album of the 80's, hands down. Margo's voice is totally mesmerizing. I have the album on cassette and CD so I can listen whenever and wherever I am.

  • perhaps one of the best albums ever recorded- certainly mesmerizing and timeless.

  • @phillipaj ya

  • Comment removed

  • Margo rules!

  • last two comments. please use sentences. Seems to me its about a "bad boy" that a real quiet, maybe mousey girl falls for. Real mismatch. But it works! seen it! Lived it...

  • beautiful song

  • What this song is about is her Lover who is scary and yet nice he sounds like a loser but she loves him and feels that she is being misguided By Him she does not want to be alone so she settle

  • Her voice is beautiful, reminds me of Harriet Wheeler's of The Sundays.

  • Oh god how I love this woman, her voice and the images her songs conjure.True talent and stars are not those with Stadium sellout tours or multi billion seling albums.True talent your name is The Cowboy Junkies.

  • I saw them some years ago in Lisbon and it aws one of the concerts of my life, maybe because they are one of the bands of my life.Since I heard from the first time The Caution Horses my life were never be the same.

  • i love this song...

  • all I have to say is great Canadian band love this song

  • i go into another world too - important!!

  • beautiful

  • For Tracy, if she ever gets round to seeing/hearing it. You are a wonderfull person and someone very dear and close to me. I hope these words can be an inspiration to you and the choices ahead.

  • Oh, those bad boys, what a spell they have other us

  • I LOVE THIS SONG! my brothers box, so they love this music video.

  • What a haunting voice Margot has. And I think this song must have been writtten just for me and my misguided angel.

  • I go into another world when I listen to this song-true beauty

  • @importantwoman... thats exactly how i feel!!!! close ur eyes and sway...

  • @importantwoman Im right there with ya...

  • @someguy2099 o yes,and u are not alone there:-)

  • @importantwoman Me too. It's one of those that I listen to over and over...

  • @importantwoman So do I importantwoman! My late wife turned me on to them while living in Denver years ago. Had the fortune to see them at the Paramount Theater in Peekskill about 2 years ago and got to speak to the lead singer. Sorry can't remember her name. richard

  • @dominacio Margo Timmons is the lead vocalist for the Cowboy Junkies, and god is her voice awesome! As smooth as melting butter.

  • They played this song at festival boreal in sudbury ontario a few years back and I soaked hubbys shoulder lol it makes me really cry COWBOY JUNKIES YOU ROCK I wish you can come back to Sudbury

  • Briliant and most flattering song. When I listen to this song and dream away I almost could be certain that I am this misguided angel Margot is singing about and that just feels so right, you know.

btw I'm missing the whole sister story, a whole couplet is cut out of this song

  • lol!
