  • THAAAAAAANNNNKKK YOU FOR MAKING THIS TUTORIAL. YOU HAVE A VERY NICE VOICE...

  • you edited photos instead of recording a video lol

  • Great demonstration. Might be buying this puppy today for voiceover work, and was worried about the learning curve on those fancy schmancy knobs. This helps me get started.

  • awesome, singing The Shins! James Mercer is a pretty brilliant melodicist. thanks for the very informative video.

  • 200k? 100Hz presence boost? Dude...

  • @stmike12 Yeah was thinking the same. Using the low EQ on a 610 to boost a vocal take? And presence? hehe

But thanks for demoing it, I´m about to get a good preamp/compressor and probably I´m gonna go for this unit. C-414 B-XL II is my main vocal mic too. Didn´t know it was bad for vocals ^^

  • @emusic007 I own the LA-610 MkII and I love it. It sounds big and warm, the EQ and compressor work great and it's hard to make it sound bad. I don't have any experience with the 414 so I can't comment but different mics work for different voices. You have to go with what works for you. Some people record with an SM58 :)

  • @MrJOEYGIOVANNI You must be the shittiest producer in the world to ask a question as dumb as that. Simple answer, there's no one single setting that works for ALL projects. You have to tailor your settings individually for everything you do. If they turn out the same for a few, cool. Most of the time each recording calls for a different setting because they all call for diff things. Someone needs to snatch your LA610 away from you, youre not qualified to use it because of your level of ignorance

  • Good demo man .. Great Thanks .. I wanna get a good preamp sooo badddd

  • FOR SINGING AND RECORDING VOCALS ,VERY POOR DEMONSTRATION.

  • I feel like if Owen wanted to, he could do a bitchin' Richard Dreyfuss impression :)

    He's already so close!

  • great video thx

  • terrible :D he was scared when he heard his voice so loud :D 2:20 :D

  • WHats the mike?

  • @Marakuja77 Looks like a AKG 414

  • @Marakuja77 It looks like a AKG 414

  • Great video! Helpful! *****

  • Careful there's a lot of distortion going on with your examples which would translate poorly into the digital domain.

  • @dwemmy He's driving the preamp section with the tubes (hence distortion), not the output, so it would translate relatively transparently into the digital domain (if this weren't true, there'd be no guitar tones anymore...). It'd be different if he were driving the output gain, because that would overload the AD converters, but he's not doing it that way so its fine. Personally I would only ever use that sort of tube drive when running through a bass guitar or something though.

  • isn't 200Khz awefully high for low-end eq?? I think he meant 200hz, not 200khz, LOL

  • hahhaha I love you!

  • Waht about the new Universal Audio LA-610 Mk II and do they can be use with neumann M149 tube mic? I wish to see more about the avalon preamp like the VT-737sp and other brands also

  • Thanks for uploading it is realy a Nice video 5***** from Sultanate of Oman

  • whats up with the video, why is it so choppy?

  • i heard you can use the compressor as a standalone unit. has anybody o patch in the comp with other preamps?

Sounds like a nice leveler for tracking stuff in.

  • Finally, someone with a personality doing one of these gear demo videos.

Be careful when recording vocals, this mic pre is easily overloaded but it sounds so good. Take note though, this version of the mic pre sounds slightly brighter than my 2-610 for some reason. Not a complaint, just an observation.

Excellent compressor in this box too even though it's not a full fledged LA-2A.

It's a classic all around. Well worth the $1,200 I paid.

  • Good demo.

Not mentioned; the 2 band EQ is a shelving EQ.

The phase in/out switch is great when you are using 2 mics (you will need another strip). I love switching the phase on guitars.

    Thanks for making this video.

  • I bought an LA 610 recently and it really has helped my reordings. I'm still not content but I'm sure that will change once I get another mic. Got the BLUE Bird but Im trying 2 gt a 414 or a Mojave tube mic

  • great video, thank for upload. I well want one!
