I have a better handle on it now. If you have an old alternator would you be able to take it apart and make a video showing the parts and what they do?

@789icetee Hi its difficult to see that one would gain much by stripping an alternator as there as only really two parts that are of interest ie the stator and the rotor. The actual function of the alternator is depends upon the interaction of magnetic fields between the windings in the rotor and stator which are of course invisible and the physical appearance of the parts gives no clue at all as to the nature of the fields that they create.
