lol loved the video very funny... and the 0% is like the $% and if thats true that mean that Q% is ^% so the % of % is %*^% of %^& so since % to the & power is % of % than it's obvious the video is funny. its all in the percents mannn!
All I know is that when I saw that lonely little cellphone resting so obviously in a car ashtray, I thought "this can only be a low-paid govt. employee placed daily in stressful situations." And then I cried. How much more emotion could anyone want?
VernontheIII, if I had to pick one thing I though you could've done better with your first post, it would be the response you picked. Don't just pick a response because that's the one you tried...everyone out there has seen that response about emotion before. However, I did like your "tree-dimensional space of action" comment. I think trees do need more space... dimensionally. That added about 500% more emotion to the 348.8674536% of emotion that was already there. Kudos.
Perhaps a different cellphone would have had an effect on the emotion in the scene. To this effect, I have acquired user manuals from 3 popular mobiles. The Motorola RAZR is listed as having an Emotion Rating (ER) of 4, translating to an increased Emotional Resonance Percentage (ERP) of 7.5%, or, I think we can safely say, a negligible amount....
The LG EnV lists an ER of 2.1, or an increased ERP of only .7%, clearly negligible. Meanwhile, a Blackberry Pearl lists an ER of 9, or an ERP rating of -40%! In conclusion, any more emotion from the cellphone would have been so small as to be unnoticeable.
Although, had the cellphone been crying, I think the emotion would have been much higher. So I agree with you there.
I'm sorry i apologize. What I meant is that it "brings very little emotion". I completely realize that it can not be brought down to 0%. Images always have emotion. I'm just saying that there could've been so much more. I'm sorry for the confusion.
vernontheIII: "All i was trying to say was that a phone sitting in a cup holder (thats not the only shot like that, but it works for what i was trying to say) brings no emotion."
thanks for your comments. I understand what you are saying, and even though I'm not a filmmaker, I agree. It was confusing to just see a cell phone sitting there "doing nothing."
Don't apologize to people who are just fooling around here. You made a good, reasonable, helpful comment. Thanks for posting!
I was trying to make a point. Movie making, acting, cutting.... everything involves the emotion of the scene. You dont make a cut unless you can first justify that it has the desired emotion (the next 5 (in order of importance) being story, rhythm, eye-trace, two-dimensional plane of screen, tree-dimensional space of action.)
All i was trying to say was that a phone sitting in a cup holder (thats not the only shot like that, but it works for what i was trying to say) brings no emotion.
I just did the math. You could have had 250-260% more emotion that's 50-60% more than originally estimated!!...and all you had to do was keep Sean in the frame as well as the cell phone...that's gotta burn. But I mean some of the blame has to lie on sean...why couldn't he just insert more emotion into just the shot with the cell? I'm not saying all 250-260% but at least 45% more emotion, would that have been so hard "sean"? if that is your real name...
whoah whoah whoah... I don't know why you guys possibly think there can be 200% plus more emotion here... Clearly, the maximum emotion increase by percentage can really only be anywhere from 150-180% tops. Cracking 200%? HA! Unlikely.
If I had to pick one thing i thought you could've done better was the shots you picked. Dont just pick a shot cause thats the only one you tried... everyone out there has seen that shot with the cell phone, only because there's nothing special about it. I know its just a cell phone but there's no emotion in the shot. You could've kept Sean in the frame as well as the cell phone and you would've had a shot with %200 more emotion. Hope this was helpful.

Seriously, would it have killed you to print out some proper 'Top Secret' logos, kinda spolied it with the felt tip creation at the end.
