  • Hi Dony,

I have a weed eater XT200. When I first got it it would only start if it had been sitting for a while (more than a day). So I cleaned the entre carb . Now I can only get it to run for a couple of seconds and then it dies. I have tried adjusting the mixture but nothing seems to help. After watching your video I noticed that my carb has a lot of the same parts as yours. Mine has a different set up where the primer bulb hooks on. What else do you think I should try?

    Thanks for your time!

  • Great Job!

  • what am I looking for to determine if my fuel filter is "varnicized"??

How do I tell if mine is still good?

  • Do all weed eaters use the same size fuel lines? I picked up a kit for Troybilt/MTD/McCulloch/Huskee/Bolens/Yard Machines/Yard-Man, with the primer bulb and fuel lines. I don't need the bulb, but the lines fit the engine side, but they seem too large to fit into the holes on the tank.

  • @bbaskel they are not all the same

  • Do you have to readjust after the aircleaner goes on?

  • @modelleg usually not

  • @donyboy73 Are the fuel line sizes the same on all featherweight weedeaters? Mine is circa 98 or 99. If so, where can I order the lines from? Mine have rotted completely away inside the fuel tank. I would greatly appreciate it if you can help me.

  • @christo930 u can get them at mowers4u dot com

  • thanks...

  • Super good videos, very clear and easy to understand.Thank you so much.

  • Excellent video

I have a WT 631 and I had a D24-WAT kit I replaced all the seals and needle.

When I put everything back together the same thing that was happening before is still happening. If I run on half choke it works OK (rich) but if I have no choke the engine tries to get up to speed and eventually dies if I hold the throttle at full. If I press the throttle in in short sharp jerks it tries to get up to full speed but dies. What could be my problem? I only have an idle screw to adjust.

  • Thank you for the free information video. I used it to replace both fuel lines on my Craftsman weedwacker and it works like a new one. I bought a set of fuel lines, 12" long each, from Home Depot instead of using Craftsman parts and saved about 80% of the cost. I really appreciate your instructions.

  • Great vids! Im having a problem with my Craftsman triimer carb. I replaced the primer bulb and fuel line. I also took the carb apart and cleaned it really good with WD40 but when I put it back together,,fuel stopped going through the carb. Its as if the bulb slowly brings in fuel but puts it back in the tank. The plug is dry and the diaphrams and gaskets look like they are in properly. Any ideas? thnx

  • hey i have same sort of carb and fuel tank but i dont know what fuel line goes to what part on carb

  • you are a good man for showing the free fix, I thank you very much

  • @edpar45 thanks for watching

  • hey man thanks. my 16 year old son and i were able to do this thanks to your video. weed eater running great! :)

  • with mine the fitler is on the biger one and the little one says at the top in the black thingy

  • thanks for the vid man...never thought i would find this brand on here and fixed my bc2400 except it had a primer bulb....thanks again!!!!

  • Hey I just rebuilt an echo that has 3 lines one is a breather. When I press the primer bulb it takes a long time to fill up with fuel. It runs fine but it just takes like 20-30 seconds to fill up with gas. Do you think the breather might be the culprit?

  • Question: fuel is sprinkling out from the carb only when I pull the trigger/throttle. Any idea how I can fix this. Thanks for the videos, I followed your instructions to the T and it got my 15 year old Craftsman trimmer running again. Now just have to fix this leak.

  • @MrKakka screws may be turned out too much, u may also need a new carb kit

  • That was one of, if not the best, instructional videos on you tube. Excellent. Thank you.

  • Darned weedeater would only run on choke. Checked in tank, found pieces of lines and a filter? Your video sorted it all out Thanks

  • An excellent series of videos. Thanks!

  • is Oregon or Tygon better ? or is it pretty much the same ?

  • @1972FordF150 tygon is much better

  • @donyboy73 Good, because that's what I bought a while back lol

  • where do i get this fuel line or will neoprene hose work?

  • @camden199 best to use the proper line, mowers4u dot com has it

  • Thanks a lot for the 3 videos. I received a Weedeater Featherlite from my grandparents and it was in storage for about 6 years with fuel in it. Your videos will definitely help me clean the carb and replace the fuel lines.

  • @kc9fsh thanks for watching, make you have subscribed

  • Fantastic job. Helped me fixed my fuel lines on a unit we bought at a garage sale for a couple bucks.

  • Good until the part where the lines connect to carb.... WHICH LINE TO WHICH CARBURETOR INPUT (PRIMER/FUEL) ????

  • @gklugie the first line i hook up at 5:44 is the line with the filter in the tank

  • What would cause the weed eater to not get gas in the bulb and not prime?

  • @weou09 check all the fuel lines, make sure they are on tight

  • mine only had one hose is that normal?

  • @JohnnyDesaint some only have one hose

  • Great video. Thanks for the help!

  • hey man, what you think it caust you in all for the rebuild??

  • 'thanks dude awesome video. I would still be working on this next week if you had not posted this, thanks again

  • Great job on video It was just what I was looking for. Thanks!!!!

  • so a perfect carb should not make the engine bog when pulling the throttle to full? if it shouldnt how do i fix that? is the problem the mixture screw??

  • @ubershot33 yes usually adjusting it will fix that problem

  • That was 3 good video's. I fumbel with all my stuff , and this answered some questions on the aggrivating little carbs our government is ruining and stopping up with parts that don't like alcohol. deteriorates all the rubber

I could scream every three months

  • no more good...lmao ill remember that!

  • Nice video, Thanks

  • I have been through the same procedure, however, my Weedeater Featherlite is a different model and can't find a way to connect the fuel lines to the carb. If you cut them off at an acceptable length, you can't get your fingers in there to connect. You would have to have 3-5 inches excess fuel line hanging out (only way I can figure).

  • @s9bryant pull out what u need to connect then pull it from the tank to go back in so it doesn't hang

  • is there any way to clean the fuel filter inside the tank?

  • @883gilmour it's best to replace it, they are cheap

  • These are great videos! Thank you for sharing your knowledge! Your videos are very informative, easy to follow, easy to understand.

  • Thanks for your video. A friend was going to grow away his weedeater due to the fuel line problems. Your video properly gave me the instruction how toreplace and put back the lines in the proper place. Also the dimension of the fuel lines size is what I also need. thanks again.

  • thank you for your videos , i have an old feather lite tht i enjoy using , and your vdeos are the best ive seen .

  • excellent video, worked exactly as you described. Thank you so much! got a fuel kit at home depot for $7.95 and had everything I needed including a new fuel filter. Also had a special tool for feeding the fuel line into the fuel tank. Worked very easy.

  • excellent video, worked exactly as you described. Thank you so much!

  • Hey where do you get your fuel lines? What are the popular main fuel line size and primer line size? I'd like to order some of the smaller popular size lines.

  • @GPMAX01 mowers4u dot com

  • @donyboy73 Thanks order some..however I didn't see the 5/64 X 9/64 in Oregon or any other type of line they had. They did have the 3/32 X 3/16 which I ordered.

  • @donyboy73 thanks..I ordered some. I didn't see the 5/64 X 9/64 line though. I ordered some of the 3/32 X 3/16 though.

  • @GPMAX01 Just find some on Ebay. it wold be easier!

  • @GPMAX01 - I bought the fuel lines from Lowes for $3.58 for both lines, they are about 1 foot long. They are made by Arnolds.

  • Exactly what I had been looking for. It's worth a try to fix it yourself. I had mine repaired last time and it would be almost the same to by a new one. 2 cycle engines are notorious for carburator problems. Being able to fix it yourself is the only way these are practical.

  • OK, donyboy,I have ordered a NEW CARB,,also got some fuel stabilizer, after hearing how much vapor water is being accumulated in the fuel as it sits. SO,your suggestion for priming the NEW carb when it gets here?

I had a feeling the diaphragms were bad in old carb and it was getting too difficult to find parts...plus the cost was starting to equal new part at $40 with S&H,etc. This will be a LEARNING experience for me....Thanks for taking your time to teach us...I appreciate it GREATLY

  • @Kewachte prime it until u see fuel come up the lines

  • i think I did everthing right but when i pump primer it collaspe. What did I do wrong

  • @dthomas1291 the primer was probably on its way out

  • Tried the adjustment...really makes no difference...It runs and sounds great...until you push the lever to engage for trimming and then BOG OUT....I was going to just spend the $30 for new carb...IF...there is no other part that might be causing this...I don't wanna keep poring into a moneypit. SHAME that Craftsman quality has gone so far down....at least I'm trying...chalk that up to one for the girls

  • Excellent Videos! I tried starting up my FL21 today; its been sitting for about 3 months. I couldn't believe how difficult it was to start up. I kept getting air in the primer bulb. After checking the gas tank I realized my fuel supply line was worn right through. Thanks to your help, I'll be fixing the lines and rebuilding the carb next weekend. A question though: I kept getting fuel/bubbles leaking out of the center of the gas cap while starting today. Is this normal or due to the broken line?

  • @NTL1991 that could be the primer bulb building pressure in the tank, nothing to worry about

  • @donyboy73 Thanks for the quick reply. I'll see if it continues when I replace the lines.

  • Donyboy,do you ever work on CRAFTSMAN weedeaters? Repairmen in my area laugh and refuse to even look at them. I had done the carb cleaning (not as well as you-I missed a few steps of breakdown, because of different configuration), I replaced fuel lines, fuel filter, sparkplug and washed the washable airfilter, cleaned carb...because the machine works great at full throttle, but when you engage it to use..(sorry, female here without proper terminology) the motor dies out..It is so frustrating,

  • @Kewachte turn out the L AND H screw 1/8 of a turn each

  • @donyboy73 Unusual as it sounds..I can only find the ONE adjustment screw on the model358.791010

  • @Kewachte some only have 1 adjusting screw

  • where do you get all the lawn equipment you fix?because im pretty decent at fixing things and i need a new project

  • @pugsonrugs i run a small engine repair shop

  • @donyboy73 Would it be Possible to make a video on how to use all of walbros carb tools that you have and also the zama "Z"

  • I like the idea of the Quaker State One Lube to start the engine. I tried to find it with no success. Does Quaker State still make it? Will any penetrating oil work the same?

  • @craig70kc any flammable penetrating oil will work a quick start

  • Never mind my previous request re. repair kit. I felt that i had the problem already diagnosed. After viewing your great video, I went to hardware store and found fuel lines. I just a few minutes I had the machine running very good. Your videos are great and I am sure will and do help many people like myself. However, on this comment section you have some viewers who seem to revel in vulgarity, which is not art all appreciated. Thanks for your help.

  • Where do I get the repair kit like you used?

  • @allenbj1 ebay or small engine shop

  • Thank you, your videos are perfect, a friend gave me a snapper weedeater. The primer bulb was dry rotted. Went to the local dealer, got the bulb. Started the install to discover the fuel lines were rotten as well. I was not sure which went where, I was going to fall back on my r/c model know how untill I saw your videos. The fuel line connection answered all my questions. Again thank you. It is amazing how so many different makes and models use so many of the same parts. Interesting?

  • The carb has no adjustment's except for the idle speed. I can get the machine started with starter fluid but once you hit the trigger it bogs down. I took the carb apart and sprayed it and ran some fine wire through the needle I guess thats what it was. From your past videos I would say I need a diaphram but not sure which one. Where do you buy them? I also will check the exaust and I think I screwed up the primer bulb

  • Donboy

I have a Ryobi weedwacker-line trimmer what ever it's called. I'm having trouble getting it started. I removed the plug and cleaned it. I also opened up the gap a bit. So first where should such a plug be gapped?

  • Awesome tutorials. Clear and precise instructions.

Among the very best tutorials out out there.

OK... now my turn. If I fail it won't be because of your tutorials! :-D

  • I figured it would be cheaper to buy a new unit than take mine into a shop for repair. Instead, $4 worth of fuel line from the hardware store and YOUR video, and I'm back in business! Thanks for saving me a hundred bucks!

  • @billyrhythm good job man

  • Dony, I did watch all of the videos but didn't see any reference to the green silicone valve I found in both of my Featherlite weedeaters. Immediately after posting my question I discovered where it came from so I tried to delete it to keep from bothering you. I found that it attaches to the underside of the gas cap.

Thank you again for the top notch videos.

  • @speckbeer I ANSWERED IT IN MY LATEST VID

  • Comment removed

  • @speckbeer see my latest video for the answer to ur question

  • Dony- I've seen many "how to videos" here and let me tell you... yours is the more understandable and by far the most detailed, now I will mine tomorrow! Thanks!! Great Fucken Video!

  • @Reneivan thanks dude

  • just wanted to know i have the same type carb as u on my weed eater xt 200 . did u start this with screws fully in because im unshurer were my screw is set at rigt now and wanted to know if i screw all the way in how many turns out i need to be same witht the idele screw. like it bogs a little on when i give gas but when at high rpm it did die out and some times it sisent not sure y but thought i'd put sum up on here for some help thanks

  • @kawasaki000000000000 turn them out at 2 turns then slowly adjust in or out until it runs better

  • Great video on carb cleaning. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Where is the most economical place to buy the rebuild kits and fuel lines? Would Canadian Tire stock theses small diameter fuel lines?

  • @dzcz63 mowersaudotcom or a small engine shop

  • @dzcz63 mowers4udotcom

  • Thanks for your fast reponse. Much appreciated.

  • I just want to say thanks. During the winter I was having problems with my snowblower and after watching your videos I gained the knowledge to work on it myself and get it running. Now my neighbor brought over his weedeater leaf blower for me fix. Using your videos, I put in a carb kit. It ran for a while then quit. Using your Fuel Line Repair Part 3 of 3, I discovered the fuel line inside the tank was designating. Replaced the line, and now, its running like a top.

    Thank you for the videos

  • This was really helpful !!! An unselfish person shares their knowledge with others. Great job!!!!!!!! Do yourself a favor and watch this video.

  • @JeDeanT thanks

  • Great Video!!!!

  • It runs good man ! cool video !! thumbs up.

  • @1972FordF150 i saw after that you had made one too, you're starting to get a lot of views on your vids, good job!

  • @donyboy73 yeah, I noticed that. I checked about 1 month ago and it only had like 75 views. And then i checked last week and they have like 300-400 views lol thanks man !

  • Thank you. I have a Fuji Robin weedeater that needs a carb rebuild. I love the weedeater because it's so light. However, given it's age, I was about to discard it (shop repair would be too expensive as you noted in the video). Thanks to your video, I'll buy a carb kit and repair it myself.

  • put the air filter back on when you run it

  • wich brand is that weedeater it looks and sounds like partner colibri

  • @maksnajper it is weedeater brand here in canada made by poulan. they also have the same machines with other names on them
