Why are people freaking out about the ipod thing? I mean, yeah it's an ipod, but it's an ipod shuffle, you know? I learned how to balance a check book in 7th grade but only because we had a world of works class because the school couldnt find a life skills(home ec) teacher until my 8th grade year
when me and my sister were the same age as pt and bt . our mom didnt want us to grow out our hair and we reeaaalllly wanted long hair. so we put towels on our heads and pretended it was hair.

at my school we have a class every year of highschool that teaches us about and how to handle money, credit cards, debt, work, taxes, house holds, jobs, how to get jobs, etc. Their technically teaching us the things we are going to have to handle when were older. i think its pretty cool :)

As for learning some financial responsibility... my Mom worked in a bank for about 20 years and taught us very young how to balance a checkbook. Well, a savings account book, anyway. My problem was it went in one ear/out the other and money burnt a hole right through my pocket! She raised three boys and a girl all on her own.

Shay, I know you take care of your kids. You're raising them right, giving them morals and showing them how the world works. A lot of people think I'm spoiled because I've had more than one iPod, or that I have a nice laptop or an acoustic guitar. But I'm not. I know that my parents love me and I appreciate everything they've done for me. I've earned my fancy electronics and I will NEVER forget how blessed I am to have such an amazing, loving family.

Love your parenting. I've had an iPod since I was 6. 13 now and on my 5th. My parents said I had to work for all my things and pay forat least half. Now I've got 5 iPods, a laptop, a kindle, an iMac, a Wii, and an amazing phone. I know your raising your kids right.
teach your girls the value of money too I wish my parents did, but they never did.... I suppose you're right it does tend to be the guy who provides for the family though that's not always the case, they'll still have to provide for themselves when they leave home and they might turn out to be gay, so no guy to provide for them there

We actually spent about 1 semester in 5th grade learning how to manage money. We had our checkbooks and everything. Near the end of the year, we went on a field trip to a place called Exchange City. It was like a real life day of work, and it was not easy. I was the "agent" of State Farm. I had to go get everyone's insurance details, and how they wanted their insurance policy to be, and everything. It really taught me how to manage money.
On a side note: I save 674$ to buy a laptop in 4th grade.
Have to say that I did chores when I was younger too. if we wanted money or just to go out we'd have to do our chores. it's good that you're teaching sontard to do them, and to work towards getting something he wants! :)

Shay, I know you take care of your kids. You're raising them right, giving them morals and showing them how the world works. A lot of people think I'm spoiled because I've had more than one iPod, or that I have a nice laptop or an acoustic guitar. But I'm not. I know that my parents love me and I appreciate everything they've done for me. I've earned my fancy electronics and I will NEVER forget how blessed I am to have such an amazing, loving family.

Love your parenting. I've had an iPod since I was 6. 13 now and on my 5th. My parents said I had to work for all my things and pay forat least half. Now I've got 5 iPods, a laptop, a kindle, an iMac, a Wii, and an amazing phone. I know your raising your kids right.

teach your girls the value of money too I wish my parents did, but they never did.... I suppose you're right it does tend to be the guy who provides for the family though that's not always the case, they'll still have to provide for themselves when they leave home and they might turn out to be gay, so no guy to provide for them there

We actually spent about 1 semester in 5th grade learning how to manage money. We had our checkbooks and everything. Near the end of the year, we went on a field trip to a place called Exchange City. It was like a real life day of work, and it was not easy. I was the "agent" of State Farm. I had to go get everyone's insurance details, and how they wanted their insurance policy to be, and everything. It really taught me how to manage money.
On a side note: I save 674$ to buy a laptop in 4th grade.
