  • Impressive rack on view between 0:08 & 0:10

  • My favourite number is 8 then 5 then 6. Im not really bothered by any more than 8

  • Ringing on 3 is the absolute zenith of change ringing.

  • I've rang on these and they are nice bells-none of them are on a carillon

  • Comment removed

  • but that's a carillon.. completely different!

  • a carillon is completely different to Change Ringing Bells...

  • of course it is!

  • That's pretty much insane! It's good to have towers like this, but I would not advocate upgrading towers to 16 nowadays: I think the money's better spent on upgrading 3, 4 or 6 bell towers.

  • what about 5s. lol.

    I love 5s.

  • Oh yeah, there are a couple near where I am actually. Forgot about them.

  • @1BODGER95 yeah I like a good 5 too. Course, the odd crap one adds a bit of fun to it!!! :)

  • Totally agree!

  • 16! I would rather ring well struck Shipping Forcast Singles.

  • Is there a bit of a jag in there or are you just stateing?

    I would rather ring 16 than 3!

  • I like ringing up to 10. Easier to listen to the stiking than with 12-16

  • No I don't like 10 bell ringing, i like 8 and 12! duno y i dnt like 10, just doesn't sound complete!

  • I agree with clapperend. 12 and 8 have an even number of pairs of bells and 10 has an odd number which might be the reason- just that we don't openly realise. It is the same reason that 6 and 10 bell extents need two singles but 8 and 12 bell do not.

  • I've never looked at it like that but it sounds logical!!!

  • well of a job geting up tho hehehehehehe was a fun nite tho

  • I have rung on 16 at st martins birmingham

  • Anyone in Dublin watching this video and interested in the idea of learning to ring at Christ Church, should contact the ringing master, and their interest will be welcomed.

  • Clapperend, and all the rest of you - glad you enjoyed various aspects of ringing at CCC; y'all come back now!

  • No, Clapperend, it was a ring of 10.

  • In reply to Michael Howes, - Michael, your memory is faulty: in 1973 CCCDUB was a ring of 10, with two semi tones; 12 bells were not rung until the augmentation of 1999, when three 12s became available.

  • Was it not a ring of 12 before the 16 went in???

  • what memories that brought back, I (Michael Howes) was with Don McClean, Brian Gourley and Robert Foulis way back in 73 when we did a visit all round Ireland, we got to ring 12, and I rang the tenor (for a bit!) anyone remember that by any chance?

  • O you were in the Carrick crowd!? r u still ringing? Alot of changes now, Christ Church has 19 and we have various new rings here and there.

  • Yes, originally a Carrick ringer, I now live in Dorset, settled here after leaving the army. I ring occasionally in the village where I live, a light ring of 6. I did ring in a peal there to mark the 50th anniversary of VE day, the original conductor, also who was in the army then, conducted it again, so made a piece of history, even made the local rag!!

  • they have a banquesting table in the middle with wine - mental!!

  • Hi, r u a ringer??? yes we are all very fond of our wine, we r Irish after all! lol ojoj

  • yeh i am - but i ring in towers in the westcountry where there's only space for a small footstall at most!

  • Were bouts do u ring??? yea my home tower is like that!

  • ringing 16 was a fun challenge but I prefer my 6 and 8s locally more :) LOL my main tower now is a lovely 6 tenor 9cwt they are a complete 6 and were the actual last ring set of 6 that taylors made in oxford before moving to loughborough. I think I got that right im recalling what our captain told me.

  • yea its gud fum but i do prefer ringing 8 - 12 myself.

  • Looks like fun. I, unfortunately live in North America, and don't have many towers to ring at :( I'd love to ring at CCC eventually though, ringing on 16 looks like a fun challenge.

  • Aw kul, I take it u r a ringer?! wats ur home tower?

  • I learned to ring at Abilene, Texas, US, Church of the Heavenly Rest. A light 6 cwt. ring of 6. I still ring there regularly, but I mainly ring at the three towers in Houston, all rings of 8 with various weights. I've rung at NCT a few times (10 bells, 32 cwt.) and once at Toronto, Ontario, Canada (12 bells, 24 cwt.)

  • nah thats fair way off sheffield is south yorkshire its like bang in middle of the country. About a hour away from birmingham.

  • No I live in sheffield and ring locally round there mainly but I visited a couple years ago.

  • o rite, My geography of England is non-existant so i dnt know where Sheffield is but I have rung in Liverpool alot and some in Bristol, duno if thats near?

  • I'm a ringer too I have not rung the 16 in Dublin but I have rung the one In Birmingham.

  • oh, gdgd Do u ring in Birmingham?

  • Are you a ringer there?

  • no, im not ringing there but i am a ringer! are you???

  • I mean are you a ringer at Christ Church Cathedral Dublin?

Yes i am a ringer, over in the uk.

  • No, my tower is in Belfast, St Donard. but i do go and ring in all the towers in Dublin alot! have you ever rung over here? Where bouts in the UK r u?

  • I have been over, but i have never rung - not enough time, i came over to help with some big chritsian event at CCC dublin in Dec last year, and i am coming over again this year, the ringing is canceld cos of this event each year. I am in the midlands, leicester, thurnby, my local tower is st luke's, 12cwt ring of 8.
