@tmax45R Terry Moore "CLAIMED" to be Hughes' last wife, but she wasn't and lost the case in court. They lived together, but there was never a marriage. Hughes set up many young starlets in small houses or flats, and went to them when he wanted to. The Hughes estate gave her a small settlement out of court to just her up, but she still continued to make the claim.
amazing love story.. was it for real??? its a terrific fate! and adopted child was destined to her benefactory which is her daddy long legs... oh i wuld love to watch the the movie..i juzt saw it on cartoons when i was a kid..
It's amazing that Fred Astaire looks so happy in this film when his wife passed away a few months before the filming of this. According to Leslie Caron he used to sit down between takes and just cry. :(
You're right, mithol--Astaire's wife died in September of 1954, when he was 55, and shortly after that the filming began. He really didn't want to do it, but friends convinced him it would take his mind off things. DLL was released in May of '55, just as FA turned 56.
Is it short for father long legs???

To those who want to see the film, check your local library.

I think he was 55 or 56, wasn't he? Depending on what time of year this was filmed.

actually, he decided to do it himself...because yes it would take his mind off things but also because he decided to do it for Phyllis. Sweet Fred.
