  • It's San Francisco =D

  • Favorite place huh :) That sounds awesome.

  • When you ask someone a question, you IRL Google.

  • Indian wombat are sexy.

  • do owners of stores and ect. have to pay to google for that kind of advertisement?

  • @koncano I dont think they need to pay, it's our judge wich one we are favorite.

  • @koncano I dont think they need to pay, it's our judge wich one we are favorite.

  • haha the acting makes it kinda funny x3

  • hello , i have an adult store i've good reviews in google can i use this to my store? or its illegal to use on places where you can buy dildos and anal toys?

  • Works just like it says, great for website optimization and connecting with new clients on the fly - I mean cell phone!

  • Very interesting...

  • Yes I agree with Magic, and I belive that what Google is doing is very ok with me. They are a top notch company wiht top notch ideas. Keep producing the good stuff Google..well done.

  • favorite places. Looks fucking awesome

  • hopefully someone people will have barcodes on their face so i can scan it, then proceed to chat with them online

    ...

  • @jpmorgan187 haha that's brilliant, glad someone said something to this extent. it's funny to see a group of people at a table where no one is talking to each other and they are all looking at cell phones. I pray they are talking to each other for the irony every time I see it.

  • great idea!

  • The world is about to change in an amazing way - AGAIN!

  • This is so fucking cool.

  • thought google was suppposed to be independent of everyone in terms there search results, but look what we have here an Iphone being advertised in the most obviouse way.

  • @lebedev9114 They are but Google doesn't care like Apple. If they wanted to blow Apple out of the water they'd only offer their services on Android phones but considering the amount of iTards out there why limit yourself.

  • @MagicAndroid it is a good point. However, I think just by this video they damaged there own reputation, only recently they released a Nexus One a direct competitor of Apple so why make a video which includes someone they are competition against? google is just trying to be eveyrwhere, and I personally think its getting them nowhere. They are specialized in search algorithm and thats what they should conenrate on dont u agree?

  • @lebedev9114 Everybody knows Google stuff will run on Google Phone, why not show it works on other phones. Leave the flashy marketing to Steve Jobs. Personally I really like what Google is doing (Voice, Wave, Goggles, Maps with Street View). They started as a search but are expanding and bringing lots of innovations. They work with ads so their products are mainly free so as long as the ads don't become too annoying and they don't become a complete monopoly i'm happy with using their products.

  • @MagicAndroid, you might be right , but is Skype not better then Voice+camera ( put that on the market a bit too late), what about O... something there version of Facebook ( I would again say nothing innovative, just imitation) , Nexus One again an imitation of Iphone. There are probably other things out there, where they are not leaders but follower, and did not do a good job at it either. I am in no doubt in full support of Google Maps, street View etc.. but thats all one business more or less

  • Well actually it can be argued a sepearte busines sbecause they do sell there maps to toher companies however from my experience, they need a lot of work on it because I could not distinguesh free version from the paid. I think they are doing a good job, but should stick to one thing because spreading into new markets is not working for them. Iphone sold 1.6 mill of units in the frist week where as NExus One only 20,000 jsut to give you an example of what i mean.

  • i totally agree with you

  • @lebedev9114 @MagicAndroid

    Get a room, you two!

  • grrr was going to discard my comment / anyway / interesting app!

  • oh .. you have the squared barcode in the states?

  • Holey Awesomeness! Our little museum is featured at the 1:00 minute mark. Thanks Google!

  • Local offline advertising is often overlooked as a great form of effective promotion for any business. I've used this method with great results many times over the years. If you're looking for a free way to advertise your business to 10,000 people locally, this might be just what you're lookng for.

I also love the fact that each time I've used this method I've made sevral hundred in a few days PLUS got my own ad(s) out to 10,000 local people for FREE!

  • ummm...Why the HELL would I want to look up reviews / call the place etc etc if I'm already standing in front of it!?

I will do that from home BEFORE going there....

This idea is retarded to the extreme.

  • @sulhaq: your lack of vision is astonishing. I presume from your statement that before you leave home you've already looked up every business you might walk past. You also must Google every business you might pass in a city you're visiting before leaving your hotel. And of course, you lack the vision to see the use of a Google QR code *beyond* just sticking it on a storefront (magazine ads, business cards, billboards, products, etc.) And yes, we're a Google favorite place, too, and we like it.

  • @fpsurgeon: 95% of the information that the QR code provides can already be obtained from the business itself since you're already THERE.

Instead of posting a QR code in an advertisement which forces your customers to go through the extra step of scanning said code, how about you put your website name, review locations etc in their instead?

I don't see the reason to scan a QR code and look all 'cool' Actually you're not looking cool at all, you're just an imbecile blocking other people's way.

  • *excuse me: "there" not "their"

  • @sulhaq: I can tell by your response that you've never run a business or designed an effective ad campaign. If only it were so simple to fill an ad with driving directions from every location, list the latest reviews, etc. Sure, every ad would need to be double truck, but money grows on trees. Do you imagine the customer wants to find paper and pencil to copy down the URL or phone number? How convenient. Please go back to playing your video games. (P.S. See the penetration of QR codes in Asia.)

  • Even though putting your website and/or other internet related information is just as easy as a QR code in printed media, I will give in and admit that they do have "some" promise when used as such.

However, my original comment was not pertaining to this at all. I implied it is a retarded idea to stand in front of a business and scan a stupid code, which is what this video depicts. My original comment stands firm. I am sorry but I refuse to acknowledge the "indirect" implications in the matter.

  • My original comment stands firm. I am sorry but i refuse to acknowledge the "indirect" implications in the matter. What this video "directly" promotes is what I commented on.

As for video games. Yeah I love them. But that has nothing to do with this. How about you actually make an argument instead of pathetically trying to call me immature.

  • you are right htey should but the code in the web

  • @sulhaq maybe you wanna get the number to make a reservation for the next time you'll go there. just a thought.

  • We are also a favorite place. Its a good feeling getting the sticker in the mail from Google.

  • Cool video, we are a favorite place and I think it's great. We were all excited when we got our letter. Thanks Google.

  • does it work with all type of phones?

how could the phone differentiate between it and bb barcode??!!

  • haha well said despite the -5 rating, i agree with you

  • iPhone should of been on Verizon....because AT@T has way too many hidden fees and bad service.

  • interesting... i like this.. very cool.

  • I sort of really like this...video, but there is a part of me that wanders given the lessons of history if the sheep are not tagging themselves for the wolves in government. I'd feel better if we had a free society to do this in and if so much stuff was not being forced with the gun of government. Even Eric (CEO) of Google defends the gun/gov position (see his global warming propaganda) so one must be Leary of the corp he works for and what they produce. Sad Google not open to truth 1st.

  • Oh Yeah! I'm a favorite! This is great!

  • Very cool!

  • Recognizing businesses is a great idea.

  • I love this because it puts customer service back at the forefront of importance of small businesses. Those who treat people well and give personalized service will get positive results and nice reviews.

  • hat einer dem Willen mich von meiner dauer einsamkeit zu retten

  • Work with Pre, the best! :)

  • And there are gay flags at the end of clip ^______________^ My lovely Google )

  • Great idea! but why are they all using an iPhone, use your own phone google! Opensource will rule over apple. (if it hasn't already)

  • gay iphone is better

  • go die

  • lol ok your fucking stupid u want me to die just because i like iphone????

  • what do you think

  • I was wondering the same thing. Being an Android user, I was very surprised to see an iPhone being used. Come on Google!

  • Thats the first thing I noticed. I saw this last week on fox news on a special "Inside The Minds Of Google".

  • great idea!!!

  • wow what a brilliant idea!

  • another step of apple ruling the world

  • wtf are you talking about, this is google

  • So google is the inventor of the android operating system, with the new Droid.

yet, they have the iPhone in this. there is an app on android market for this, I have it on my Droid.

can I get a oober fail?

  • @nthn007

I would give you one, but you spelled "an uber" wrong, so you cancelled it out.

    :P (Teasing, teasing.)

  • would have. dumb people out there. uber would have confused their tiny little brains...

  • @nthn007 iphone rules

  • CANT WAIT FOR THE GOOGLE WORLD!

  • ellos bounooo google iz good 1

  • they're taking over the world step by step...

    cool :D

  • Yeah, because I'm gonna be a tool outside a restaurant taking a barcode picture! Come on man!!!

Whatever happened to exploring and trying things (good or bad) without Google approval???? Maybe you'll learn something new!

    So sad.

  • And maybe you'll get food poisoning. It could go either way I guess. But if you've never had food poisoning, that could be exciting and new.

  • That was in response to Infiltrator7777

  • agreed....

People are so lazy and insecure and Google is taking advantage of it

  • hahaha google with an iphone....

    Chrome OS Sucks!!!

And the phone too... sold it go an iphone now happy!!! lol

  • if your going to flame, what i the point of commenting, its not even on the subject of the video.

  • Google are you fucking kidding me? Using an iPhone? Use your own shit! Verizon would be pissed!

  • Racist bastards. Where are the blacks and Hispanics restaurantes lol

  • i <3 google

  • I love Google!

    They're taking over the world...

    Seriously.

  • This is a really cool way to keep mom and pop shops in business! I love this idea. All of you haters need to understand that you're dissing the working men and women. Without them (especially the eateries, cafes, and independently owned book stores) America wouldn't exist in the first place. Go dis capitalism in your blog or on Facebook or something..

  • google is the best ever*****

  • iradissimo!!!

  • HAHA!!!

i love how they used an Iphone and not a google android phone!

  • Millions rofl.

  • In the techcrunch news about this Favorite Places promotion, Google will give away 40,000 Quickmark QR code readers for iPhone in one week. Everyone in all countries can download Quickmark QR code reader in itunes in this week.

  • I think everyone in the video put their sticker too low. It looked awkward to photograph them.

And this of course will all become irrelevent in 2 years when every phone has Google Goggles augmented reality.

  • yes, good idea,, but only "so many" people can get proper use out of these signs, not everyone has the time to stop & take a picture.

  • Wow! Now that is cool. I hope it catches on in more cities and towns.

  • Holy Mark of the Beast.

  • Preparem a nuca pra receber o código de barra da GOOGLE SKYNET!

Prepare the neck for receiving the bar code of SKYNET GOOGLE!

  • Lol. Stupid capitalism, eh? ;-p

  • Uh, if you're already at the establishment, and you have a phone, then you can just type the name into Google, or use any number of apps and mobile services (like Yelp, etc.) to find reviews and info. How is this any different, other than being Google's (late to the party) version of the same thing? P.S. Look for a LOT of restaurants tearing these stickers down when they receive an inevitable bad review.

  • awesome!!!

  • Google vai domina mundo!!!

  • wow, this looks nice

  • wow! quickmark rock!

  • Comment removed

  • XD Sound great!!

  • awesomeness XD

  • Google Earth's feature "stree view" is really fun to use. I have looked for places I used to live.

My favorite place was just a few blocks from the Del Coronado Hotel in San Diego.

  • Interesting how they used an iPhone instead of an Android phone.

  • you think they would have used something like the google g1

  • Yea, lol

  • @kidphat LOOL !

  • maybe the android came after this video was done, or they are stupid.

  • we talked about using QR codes on my society's event banners, our problem was nobody would know it's significance, and wouldn't have the software to scan it. i guess Google's doing everyone else a favour.

Trivia: QR codes are the norm in Japan.

  • I think it's worth noting that Blackberry users can use the QR code scanner within blackberry messenger 5.0 to scan any QR codes.

Even if it's a link, and not someones PIN, it will ask you if you want to proceed to a webpage.

  • what is a good app for looking at QRs like that on the iphone? asides from this google supplied software?

  • Barcodes...

That's the actual name of it... And it's free :D

  • intro- sky--net

  • Genius!

  • LOL, poor editing, at 1:16 (actually 1:17) you can hear them trying to extend the music, but split it on the wrong beat :D

  • lmao, i only noticed it when i saw you mentioning it and when i watched it again without looking at the actual video! you must be a very precise video editor!

  • I try, xD

But I do notice little things here and there in movies and such, lol, thanks for the compliment

  • Very innovative way to get people adopting QR Codes and pushing the US. I've been jealous of Japan and other countries for some time now. :)

  • omg man these ppl are taking over the world!!!!!

  • This is getting outrageous. Soon, Google will have a app that will flush your damn toilet. LOL!

  • ...good idea

  • LMAO i know

  • iCrap, there's an app for that. soon to come with V.2.0 which includes iWipe :)

  • awesome idea

  • Brilliant.

  • cool will know if its good or bad

  • Oh ! how about i phone something with internet ? but we need to pay ..30 dollars a month ? it s very good for travel people right ? my daughter come to my house and she talking about go to Boston and i remember the place call Quince or Quincy is very good to eat and then she just click on Her Phone and find it - i like that - fast and simple - but you need to pay to get it ! of course Not thing Free !

  • Wow, what a great idea. Hope this gets popular

  • Microsoft already launched their own barcode solution, Microsoft Tag. I tried it, and love it.

"Everything Google does is automatically amazing and newsworthy!"

Of course, this logic is flawed, yet this is exactly how many commentators still behave.

  • That's awesome!!!

  • Red Laser/Microsoft Tag

  • I hope Google would send that to my Rest. too... ^_^..

  • Google is going to take over the world wide web and will prevail, no questions asked.

  • i think they already did...

  • some google ideas are revolutionary, and easy. But this is a waste of time and logistic.

  • Now, instead of going in and saying "can I look at a menu please?" you can stand outside and look at the menu! Wow! This is the future guys zomg!!

  • WTH!! thats awsome!! nice one google!

  • google promoting the iphone instead of their own android

  • thats cool

  • Google is now "personalizing" results even when users have not logged into its web-dominating search site. And SEO types aren't too happy about it.

Personalization is a euphemism for a Google-controlled practice that involves tweaking your search results according to your past web history.

  • Personalization is a euphemism for a Google-controlled practice that involves tweaking your search results according to your past web history. Mountain View was already doing this with users who had signed in to a Google account so they could use non-search services like Gmail and Google Calendar. But now it's targeting results for all users - whether they're logged in or not.

The way Google tells it, this will make your life better.

  • ...well, that is true but according to the "Personalized Search" Video at the right you can disable this "service".

  • I agree they are taking it too far. Us web masters will suffer.

  • iphone promotion video? lol that's an awesome feature tho

  • useful!

  • my phone is a shit!

  • me too

  • very weird and interesting technology.

google is putting out amazing tech for free,

  • they scan the little logo with their phone and it goes right to the restaurant infos

  • FINALLY!!!

  • cool

  • YA HOO...

  • Wow this is great for businesses and customers. Really great for Kasa Indian Eatery being highlighted in this video.

  • my phone doesn't do these bar codes.

    Samsung m510

  • 0:41

  • Why can't it just use GPS to know what business you're standing in front of?

  • maybe it does

  • wow!

  • What the resteraunt owner doesn't know is they're all using her Wi-Fi =D

    Great concept.

  • how about , bluetooh also, that sends info, videos, etc,,, how abot live video so i dont even have to leave my house
