I forgot to mention that I watched this comedian and I HATED him! His yelling made me really uncomfortable! Maybe it's like Mr. Bean; something British that I'll never understand...
@JamieDanger Odd, because Mr. Bean seems to be popular EVERYWHERE, except the UK. With Nick Helm, the discomfort is the main thing. I love that stuff. I got to be the guy he shouts "DO YOU LIKE JOKES?!" at, and I'm disappointed that it's unlikely to happen again if I go to another gig.
@BaubleRob the only comedian I've been watching recently is Maria Bamford, and Kate had a billion orgasms about her on her videos already.... and other than you guys, I mostly use YouTube to watch music videos... I'll try and find something.
@stephenashley74 Hmm, depends what you want from it. Northern England doesn't have a whole lot going for it, tourist-wise. Scotland is friendlier for Americans too, because a lot of Americans come here to find their roots (no American wants to find his English roots, apparently!)
@BaubleRob We were a bit more mainstream this year. We saw Sarah Millican (shit), Paul Foot (intrusive, but good), Paul Merton & Impro Chums (pretty good), RomComCon (free - supposedly the next Dave Gorman in female guise) and a BBC Radio recording.
@peesemould I liked Millican before she got successful, after which she seems to have changed her act. Now a lot of her stuff is about her being fat and liking cake: default female comedian stuff.
Been to the festival a dozen times this year, same last year, and have seen NOTHING. I feel terrible shame. Just been taking photos of the street performers on the Royal Mile etc. But one of these years I may actually watch a person doing a show. Although I bought tickets for Reginald D. Hunter last year only for the inlaws to bail. Still got the tickets, lonely and unused.

I'm so jealous I'm obsessed with Ricky Gervais, last spring I watched The Office and Extras, now I'm a fan for life. Can't wait to see his new show, it's been too long. Awesome videos as always!
Went and had a look at one of Nick Helm's videos on youtube, but couldn't help think he's the bloke from the inflatable crocodile ad on TV.
