They shouldn't eliminate Brinker just yet. It is possible to set up a timing device to start a fire even when you're not there and that would explain how the cap got in the back room. Since Brinker is always in his store, he could have easily taken the cap after Jamal left it there and planted it in order to frame Jamal.n
I think the fire was started by that cigar mr. brinker put down in the back room when lennie came back there. I also think that the kid in the blue bandana on the dirt bike, with the fire crackers, was Craig. But its just a hunch.
In addition to that, I knew Mr. Brinker was the culprit, because TIME was the most important clue. Only he would've known how to set the time on his clock.
OH, why didn't I see that before?! It would've been so easy for him to go in after hours and set the clock after turning on the fire! Geez, can't believe I let something like that slip me...I'm usually good at these things.
After all, CierraKahana, have you ever heard the expression: "What appears to be a shadow, isn't always a shadow"?? It means that what's most obvious is hidden right in plain view.
I thought Mr Brinker was gonna backhand Alex for knockin that rack down! And i love that part where Craig says it stinks back here. I bet it was a smell of a dirty butt! Mr Brinker you dirty butthole!
You have to remember (with the earlier episodes especially) what age group they were targeting. They couldn't make it too complicated especially since they spread it over a few days of episodes. It's always easier to see plot holes like this now when you're all grown up! smile!!
nippa! yeah, they can ignore these things because when we were younger we didn't notice these kind of things cuz we didn't know enough to put two and two together, ne?
why are police looking at arson though? the first episode of this case made it look like the VCR or another machine shorted out and made other things in the back catch fire.
Because it'd be the perfect cover-up for a video piracy scandal. If the store was set on fire, everybody would think that Brinker's store was destroyed instead of conducting something that was against the law.
anyone notice how when jamal and alex looked up copyright infringement, they grabbed like 30 books and then only used the dictionary to look it up? LOL!
what crazy is i went 2 PS11 which was one block from where lenni house and the bodega was and biggie smalls lived on the same block as when alex and jamal were running
Anyone else find this kind of weird? The fire took place on Sept. 9th, and Gaby and Tina go to Tony's warehouse two days later on Sept. 11th. When Gaby and Tina walk out there is a shot of one of the WTC Towers (5:08). I know it's a TV show and the scene probably wasn't shot on 9/11/1992? (or 91) but it's still kinda weird.
I think that Mr Brinkers did it because he wanted tokeep the heat of himself copywriting all of those films that he has been selling like the one he gave to tina.
For some reason I remembered that "Cooking with Herbs" part ever since '92 or '93 whenever I had first seen this episode. I was anticipating that part the moment they walked into the store. I thought that shit was hillarious back than, and it's still hillarious now.
Tryin' to blame a brother regardless and they knew he didn't do it. It's subliminal message is releveant to how society is; how a lot of times Blacks/'minorities' are sometimes used as a scapegoat even if they have minimal evidence or circumstantial. A lot of times police respond by stereotyping what a 'criminal' is supposed to look like, and bam! you can have a innocent man in jail foe a crime he didn't do. Yeah my comment is off topic but I had to say it.
I can understand that, Datsu. Have you ever wondered how the expression: "His name is "Mud"" first started?? The expression's origin was from a man named "Dr. Samuel Mudd", who was incarcerated for supposedly being a co-conspirator of one of the most infamous homicides in American history -- particularly the assassination of Pres. Abraham Lincoln, based on circumstantial evidence. He was later pardoned, but it didn't make any difference whatsoever, and his name still lives forever in infamy.
They have to figure this out. This is a really good mystery, it's so long! Jamal is innocent we all know that. I can't figure it out at this moment. Anyone else can respond to this comment if they know who did it. Just click on reply.
hmm i cant be certain but i think when the kid through the fire crackers they might have caught something causing a fire, meaning it was all an accident. Then again it would make more sense if it was the delivery guy.
And another good question would be, "How could either Jamal or the kid w/ the firecrackers be the culprit , when they were in FRONT of the store, & the fire started in the BACK??"
@DanaAbel30 well my question is why did they kids run away but not only that how did they dissaper like that i mean i know this sounds funny but i found those kids to be kind of creepy as a kid how they seemed to dissaper :/
His point in the story was to add another suspect to the list. Not sure how he disapeared though. Maybe Craig was too busy reading or something to notice.
But there's a good question about your hypothesis, Vlad. How could either Jamal or the kid with the firecrackers be the culprit, if the fire started from the INSIDE of the store, and they were on the OUTSIDE??
Neither Jamal nor the kid with the firecrackers were ever suspects to me, because whoever started the fire would have to be somebody who had free access to the back of the store, and that just left only 2 people: Tony and Mr. Brinker himself.
This was the original pilot episode of "Ghostwriter" young actors are younger than they were in the first broadcast episode.

yeah, but the way the store burned made the police think it was arson and not an electrical short in Brinker's illegal video taping equipment.
