Dear God. I ALMOST feel your pain. I had most of my stuff (as in, maybe minus some motion data and wav files... and project files... D: I mourn the loss of them the most.) backed up on a 4GB flash drive before our computer died sometime last year. Not even on purpose either. All I wanted to do was put the files on another computer.

Are you sure it's hosed? I mean I've worked on computer hard ware a long LONG time and I've recovered and fixed things people thought were irrevocable, and I've seen others do it when I ran out of ideas. Did you already reformat it? Have you personally spoken with everyone you can about it? Well I hope you're able to get as much back as you can. I can only imagine how horrible that feels. Good luck!

there remains the possibility that you can access data directly

without windows system by using knoppix.

I sympathize with you. I experienced the crash of the HDD too. However, you should not give it up. There remains the possibility to perform salvage of data. I succeeded in the salvage of data more than 90% with some freewares. I pray for your having good luck.

I suggest you manually take the actual hard drive out of its casing, your going to need a toolkit and you might need some special screwdivers but im not sure, than youll need to buy a hard drive to usb adapter (take the drive itself to the store and ask someone to help you find the right adapter.

hard drive adapters are usually around 20$ so dont worry

this has happened to my main computer hardrive before and my uncle brought an adapter and all my stuff was there.

Last year my dad reformatted the hard drive of the computer I was using for all my MMD stuff, and I lost every model I was working on, and lost a lot of special models that aren't being distributed anymore. and the models I was working on had HOURS invested in them, and they weren't even complete yet.. I was incredibly furious.

I can't imagine how it would be to have all of the stuff you had gone like that.

Don't... DO NOT FORMAT THE HARD DRIVE. YOU CAN STILL FIX IT. - you should've made backups on an external anyways. If you didn't format it you can still recover a corrupted hard drive - It costs like 50~70 bucks though.. I'm not sure if there is a free way.

Awww well at least you can re-download some of what you lost... I had utau recently gitch and delete the folder where I keep my prototype files. Every file just disappeared -___- not even anything related to utau in the folder aside from the single vsq that caused the problem.
