What's with appointees being called czars in a free country? The U.S. Constitution does not provide for American soldiers fighting in undeclared wars. The citizens of Iraq are responsible for their destiny. The U.S. Constitution does not allow for Americans to be under the auspices of an international war-waging body {N.A.T.O. & the U.N.}. The United States of America is a Constitutional Republic {by design, though not by practice}.

They didnt do liar loans so they had a very low default rate. The crash was caused by deregulation. A republican wet dream that screwed us all. Dodd and Frank, for years pushed for Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to go even further in promoting subprime mortgage loans, which are at the heart of today's financial crisis. Alan Greenspan, the Chairman of the CoEA, and Bush's Secretary of the Treasury all warned them years before hand of this.

When I got into the business there were subprime loans being given out and as soon as the market took a downturn, they tightened up credit. But the market didnt crash. @MrTruthAddict the facts show that it was the government that pressured financial institutions in general to lend to subprime borrowers, later, threats of legal action by then Attorney General Janet Reno if the feds did not like the statistics on who was getting loans and who wasn't.

Sounds like a LOT of regulations here. I wonder what would happen if we truly did take the government monopolies out of the picture, how the free market would then react?

@asleeperj More Hannity lies. The CRA was enacted and forced on CERTAIN lenders who were BLATANTLY practicing discrimination and redlining. These banks were not only NOT giving loans to minorities, if they DID give loans to minorities, they were GOUGING them with fees 3-10 higher than they were to their white borrowers. I WORK in the industry so I saw it going on. Most banks totally ignored the CRA guidelines and kept on doing exactly what they were doing before.

There's a difference. Bush appointed 35 Czars over the course of 8 years. That includes multiple people in the same position. Obama on the other hand has literally created dozens of new Czar positions. The big deal is that these Czars have budgets of billions of dollars and the legislature has absolutely NO oversight or review over Obama's appointments, as is mandated by the constitution.
