Ernest C. Harris (his voice starts at 9:14m and is shown with a yellow KW hard hat at 9:23m) was my father. He loved so much working with Christo and Jean-Claude on the Valley Curtain Project as well as other projects that followed. Up to the day he died he spoke of great fondness for them and their work.
it's really very sad that people refuse to stop and reflect on how beautiful something can be. it's about the experience of putting up the fence, the people that got involved, the minds that were changed, and the beautiful end product. if you cannot appreciate the aesthetics, then I truly feel sorry that you're missing out on something so great. if you are interested in more of how this project took place and the opposition it faced, watch the doc. "Running Fence"...it's fantastic.
I saw this in my doc film class and couldn't get over what a retarded idea it was. A curtain over a valley.........oh wow that's so fucking interesting.
@Gibson889 It's an amazing and wonderful idea but it depends on wich way you see it. Stop hating around and start appreciating the great things of life.
@Cucci95 Wow I made that comment over a year ago, I've since learned to appreciate documentary film and art. Christo's idea was awesome and I think helped inspire one of the coolest commercials I've seen

@bbraddock43 My late great grandfather was one of the lead engineers under Cristo. Ernest C. Harris will be remembered forever.

That's quite a change in view. The world needs more "public art" .

They should stick to wrapping shit in nylon. Remember when they put up umbrellas that blew away and killed some people? Sweet.

Ended up looking pretty dinky compared to the size of the valley it's in. I wonder why he didn't go to the top?
