I dont know man, older brother had an 06 wrx. fell apart at 100k, parents had a forester.. that was a POS. i just traded my 09 wrx after the engine failer twice, first at 20k then at 55k. plus all 3 were rust buckets. im never getting a subaru again. my youngest brother has a 09 si. hasn't spent a single dim fixing, and repairs, not rattles nothing. i now have a 11 si, IMO its much better

what i like most about this, is when ppl say wrx's are so much better than the si... have you ever seen a si with a blown engine??? no.. seen a wrx with a blown engine?? all the time!! you cant find a used wrx withouth it saying new or needs engine. wrxs rust like shit, and engines really aren't that great. I like the new look of the 2011 wrx, but know the engine will break in 80k miles. si is better.
WRXs are in a different class altogether. More WRX engines are blown due to fault of the owner. Some have fault from the factory. Either way, they're far better to drive than any Civic that isn't a Type R. What's good about a WRX is that you can swap & STi block (or any older low compression EJ block) in it & keep going with no issues. Can't do that with a Honda. I've seen blown B engines before. If it isn't built or a Type R, it's not going to withstand anything past 7Krpm. period.

? The Si will do a lot worse on a curvy road than a WRX will, even with stock suspensions. All an aftermarket suspension would do is tip the favor even more to the WRX's side. It's the Si that has the advantage during a roll due to the FWDrivetrain not being as parasitic as the AWDrivtrain from in the WRX.
@mtee111 Yes, the 08 WRX compared to the rest of the WRX's is a turd. As I had indicated, I've driven several WRX's from an 02 up and currently own an 08. I can say with confidence that the 08 is the weakest in regards to suspension out of all. I have also driven a variety of Si's and the handling of the late models are superior to the 08WRX. I'm currently working on the suspension to bring it up to par with earlier models or some of the newer models.

@TheVertro CobbAP w/Perrin 17.5psi Stage 2, Perrin DP, SPT Catback, Perrin rear swaybar and endlinks and upgraded to 235/45/17s. I need a few more suspension mods and a little more power. The difference in power and the feel between stock and now is significant with the new map having a much broader power range. Looking at a dyno tune next to squeeze a little more out of the stock turbo. Regarding the clutch, ACT makes one of the best single disks for WRX. BTW, join the "ClubWRX" forum.
Be a lil safer out there on the road...Going 140 next to innocent drivers is not cool or safe. I don't know if you have ever received a wrekless, but you should probably have received a few by now.. Where I come from, you would get your car taken away and a couple months in jail for getting caught driving like that..

100hp per liter isn't high performance nor is it better engineering. It's just 100hp per liter. Honda light years ahead of the Subaru? You're mistaken. It doesn't offer AWD, turbocharged engines for it's cars, handling, nor does it have engines with usable low down TQ. Even a 2.5RS has more TQ than a stock Integra Type R. Subaru is far ahead of Honda.

You're not comparing apples to apples, 152hp/L with a turbocharger is totally different than N/A. And if you think a WRX handles better than a Type R, you are sorely mistaken, around a track stock for stock the Type R would win hands down. More torque doesn't equal faster either, the 2.5RS has more torque but is still faaar slower. I've been fender to fender with 2 modded STi's in my bolt-on/flashpro Si... Explain that and don't say they weren't racing, they beeped it off
@97preludeshvtec Must be some super bolt on mods, and one HELL of a tune. My stg2 wrx can trash a bolt on Si, and it barely beats stock Stis. I'm damn sure that unless the driver is an idiot, or you have more mods than your claiming, a modded Sti would destroy most civics.
Please do a search on the new FD2 Type R and check its lap times, it will beat an R34 GTR around a track, so I'm certain it'll take a WRX. Just because a car is AWD doesn't necessarily mean that it handles better and if you truly believe that it does you need to do some research. And you're right, its more likely that BOTH of the STi owners couldn't drive. From a roll my car is lighter, geared better, and the power is instant along with less wheels to lose power through
FD2 Type R is decent. Still ain't keeping pace with any late 90's GC8 WRX though, which will also kill a Type R around a track. You should look up Subaru's DCCD sometime. Any Subaru equipped with that automatically has great handling prowess, no questions asked. Hell, any Subaru has decent handling. Not all AWD handle like they do. Audi falls behind while the GT-R is a beast.
As a former STi owner, I know quite a bit about subaru's and the FD2 type R will definitely out handle any stock Subaru, straight line performance obviously isn't as fast.
Look up some Best Motoring video's and you'll watch a stock fD2R take a nismon 350Z around a track.

IMO, what makes this race "unfair" is the fact that it's a stock car vs. a modded car. If you turbo'd the Si, of COURSE it would be faster. But if you turbo'd almost any NA performance car it would be an order of magnitude faster than any of it's turbo competitors.
An Si turbo vs a WRX with I/E/reflash is not in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM a fairer race, at all. That is a completely illogical statement. That's like bitching that a Volvo 240 won vs a Civic because it had a turbo.

Actually not really. Boosting the new Si with such high compression is definitely dangerous, but you'd be surprised how strong this K20 motor is built. I own the new Si and one guy from my car club is boosting 8psi on stock internals, so far it's been 5 months and no problems, but obviously the motor's life span is going to decrease. There's also a video on youtube showing the K20A motor held up 42psi until it blew, that was sick. Fast scooby in this vid.

2 things to keep in mind.
If you turbo a Honda, you'd still have to tune it whereas the WRX is already set to go.
You're still not going to beat a WRX on a track or anything that has a curve to it. It takes more than whp to put down a Subaru.

100hp per liter isn't high performance nor is it better engineering. It's just 100hp per liter. Honda light years ahead of the Subaru? You're mistaken. It doesn't offer AWD, turbocharged engines for it's cars, handling, nor does it have engines with usable low down TQ. Even a 2.5RS has more TQ than a stock Integra Type R. Subaru is far ahead of Honda.

I didn't think there was ever a point in comparing Subaru to Honda if we're talking about stock. Honda eliminated it's 2 stars & those were the only decent performers that could take it to an STi. Now they have nothing. The Honda fans like to talk about "well if I put a K1234567 with about $10K in mods" & they get enlightened when they get shitted on by a Subaru with half that price in mods.

You're not comparing apples to apples, 152hp/L with a turbocharger is totally different than N/A. And if you think a WRX handles better than a Type R, you are sorely mistaken, around a track stock for stock the Type R would win hands down. More torque doesn't equal faster either, the 2.5RS has more torque but is still faaar slower. I've been fender to fender with 2 modded STi's in my bolt-on/flashpro Si... Explain that and don't say they weren't racing, they beeped it off

1:Power is power. It really doesn't matter how it's made as long as it does what it needs to do.
2:A stock Type R (pick any FWD one) keep pace with a stock WRX around a track (It will STILL be behind). An STi will blow it out.
3:Honda FWDs may be easy to drive but Subarus tend to draw out a little more skill. However, you get more performance than the effort you just put in.
4:Maybe your opponents were racing but if you were able to keep pace with them, then they can't drive their STis right.

Please do a search on the new FD2 Type R and check its lap times, it will beat an R34 GTR around a track, so I'm certain it'll take a WRX. Just because a car is AWD doesn't necessarily mean that it handles better and if you truly believe that it does you need to do some research. And you're right, its more likely that BOTH of the STi owners couldn't drive. From a roll my car is lighter, geared better, and the power is instant along with less wheels to lose power through

FD2 Type R is decent. Still ain't keeping pace with any late 90's GC8 WRX though, which will also kill a Type R around a track. You should look up Subaru's DCCD sometime. Any Subaru equipped with that automatically has great handling prowess, no questions asked. Hell, any Subaru has decent handling. Not all AWD handle like they do. Audi falls behind while the GT-R is a beast.

As a former STi owner, I know quite a bit about subaru's and the FD2 type R will definitely out handle any stock Subaru, straight line performance obviously isn't as fast.
Look up some Best Motoring video's and you'll watch a stock fD2R take a nismon 350Z around a track.

IMO, what makes this race "unfair" is the fact that it's a stock car vs. a modded car. If you turbo'd the Si, of COURSE it would be faster. But if you turbo'd almost any NA performance car it would be an order of magnitude faster than any of it's turbo competitors.
An Si turbo vs a WRX with I/E/reflash is not in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM a fairer race, at all. That is a completely illogical statement. That's like bitching that a Volvo 240 won vs a Civic because it had a turbo.

Actually not really. Boosting the new Si with such high compression is definitely dangerous, but you'd be surprised how strong this K20 motor is built. I own the new Si and one guy from my car club is boosting 8psi on stock internals, so far it's been 5 months and no problems, but obviously the motor's life span is going to decrease. There's also a video on youtube showing the K20A motor held up 42psi until it blew, that was sick. Fast scooby in this vid.

LOLZ at those ppl saying its out of its 'class' the Honda... dude learn the facts before you run your mouth... the SI comes with 197hp at the crank, about 180 at the wheels... the car weighs what? 2900 lbs.??? So thats about 16 lbs per hp right?... the WRX on the other hand has the AWD, so it loses a lot on the dyno... this is a slightly newer WRX... but they still can't break 200 hp at the wheels stock... its the same 16 lbs. per hp as the SI... Nice win by the WRX

1)Civic is racing a car out of it's class. Not only do you factor in HP but also TQ, which the WRX>Si in every sense.
2)THAT Civic is heavier than 2900lbs, slightly over 3000lbs. It isn't too much lighter than the WRX is.
3)WRXs make anywhere from 195hp-205hp & TQ on a dyno & it's geared quite aggressively, though not as much as an STi.

WTF are people talking about putting the same mods on the civic for? the WRX comes turbo'd from the factory. so if you put a turbo on the civic, you have to upgrade the turbo in the WRX. mod for mod the WRX will always win because it is faster to start with.

dude you can't be that dumb. The sti's come turbo'd which means it's an unfair race to begin with. The civic is racing out of it's class. Turbo an si and put the corresponding parts (intake, headers, exhaust, etc) and I guarantee you the civic will put the sti up for it's money. if you race a car that isn't turbo'd vs a car that is, if you turbo the n/a car then you dont turbo the one that is AGAIN. god. go get a fucking car to race first before you talk shit about what you don't know.

too bad 4 u the wrx came stock and still costs the same as a civic si. you bought your civic SI for 20000 and I bought my wrx turbo for 15000. you spend an extra 10000 to turbo. totaling 30000. so isnt it fair that I get to spend an extra 15000 upgrading my turbo and furthering my transmission.?
