Vincent Price does not need to read this poem. He seldom needs and cues or cards. He was magical with his ability to re-create the great words of those we now renown as Greats.
Poe was an excellent poet. His writings were written out of a hysteria that he was driven to from losing a love that was passionate and deep. His being madly in love, and losing his LOVE...drove him mad!
There was no better orator of Poe's poetry than Vincent Price!!!
@kizzie926 I agree that few, if any, actors can rival Vincent Price. Perhaps Kenneth Branaugh could, since "The Raven" fits within the broader limits of his preferred genre, but even the great Mr. Price doesn't bring out the meaning of the poem. It as though (my perspective alone) even he doesn't quite understand the meaning of what it is he's reciting when it comes to the breadth of detail in this poem. I'm sorry, but I feel compelled to keep looking for a successful rendition.
@MrMittendorf the answer may lie in animation , the Simpsons got to a good start bt in the pursuit for humour lost the true emotions of the poem, there are other animators who will try to make better versions .

To be completely honest, I have yet to find a version of this poem recited by any actor that I truly enjoy. Alas.
