  • man your nasally

  • @bboybdon All my life.

  • please be advised that the jack stands are in placed in the wrong location the should be placed at the lifting point on the seam of the rocker panel. also when jacking the car never jack more then 3 inches off the ground on either side its best to have 2 jack and work them with a buddy or one after the other slowly or you can twist the unibody and cause aliment problems as well as high speed stability problems

  • great work though. clean. my brother just typed the previous comment hes a dick. im recuperating cuz i wanted to ask u if changing the tranny on a 1998 corolla would be similar

  • @turbofanman1 I do not not think this would be similar to your corolla..

  • cross member bracketry lol. its just a forward, aft, or side transmission mount

  • This is definitely not a DIY

  • Cool, Chrislers 41TE... I trained on them...

  • Didn't know Ray Romano had a thing for cars..

  • @elijah98292 Everyone loves richpin

  • Great demonstration, but I can't help but to imagine the whole thing was narrated by Peter Griffin :P

  • hey bud...would this be the same for a 2000 model?

  • @JBoone1989 I have not done this on a 2000 but the 02 looks pretty darn close to the same car.

  • @JBoone1989 It is very similar but I just did this on a 2000 model and the splined part of the passenger side drive shaft is seriously about a foot long so in order to remove it from the transmission I had to completely remove the passenger side spindle in order to get the axle far enough away from the transmission to get it out of the differential.

  • So how did the replacement transmission work? You left us hanging... LOL! I was waiting for a smokey front wheel drive burnout! BTW keep up the great videos, (how about a behind the scenes, tools, toys, projects)

  • Peter Griffin narrating the video, LOL!!!!

  • @DementedButtHole hell ya

  • @DementedButtHole I thought he sounded like the guy who wants to use the phone on dumb and dumber that gets punched by the guy in the phone booth

  • Hey Rich love the way you explain everything from bolt size to the brackets, your very good with the camera as well . I sure hope you made good money on this one,if it's a family member you must have made zip! just like on your nephews dry thru the water incident, you probably made nothing there LOL! sorry bro'

  • holy shit you sure have a lot of patients specially on a piece of junk like a doge I admire your tenacity

  • @2hatelibs1 I took some pills before i worked on it.

  • @2hatelibs1 I agree. Holy Hell!!!! you do have patience.

  • i have checked the radiator for cracks and flushed the transmission fluid to check for coolant in it....no cracks in the radiator and no coolant in transmission fluid.

  • i have a 2002 dodge neon, the transmission on it was fine but started to fail after the temperature went up, i mean it would drive fine for the first few miles and then it would just rev like the car was in neutral. i replaced the transmission and still have the same problem. please help me.

Someone online said transmission cooler might help.

  • @faisalmmmmmm Around this year there was a problem with the coolers which are in the radiators cracking letting coolant in and ruining the transmissions.

  • Thanks for the video. Any idea on how similar this would be for an automatic Dodge Stratus from '02? Or even if it could be replaced with a manual? I know it came with manual as an option and I've heard it's possible but I don't know if that's true.

  • @TheDukeofCanterbury I think it is possible after changing the shifter, computer and brake pedal.

  • wow... no wonder why mechanics charge so much to do trans repair. great video..

  • Hi, I am just wondering if I can replace a transmission for a jetta'02 the same way as the dodge or is it diferent.

  • hey richpin know anything about removing f-250 trannys? i have to replace my transmission i rather buy a new one then to fucking spend my time having my old one rebuilt it has over 410k miles on it anyway my engine is strong but the transmission is crap

  • @chamblizi Can not help you much there.

  • @richpin06a ehhh well i have sent some stuff to scotty kilmer so maybe he can help

  • why don't you show how you unscrew those hard to get bolts? That would be very helpful

  • did you remove the tran without hoist?

  • @howtovideo2011 Yes i did

  • I wish if I was able to do that. Good video and be careful when working under a car just supported by jack stands

  • Thanks so much for making this! I'm doing a transmission swap on a 2000 celica and I just couldn't find out how to remove the transmission. it really helped! the nice thing for me is that there's no engine in the car, so it saves me a lot of time, haha.

  • @kaibacorp345 Yes no engine does make it a little easier.

  • This is crazy thats to much work for me .....where's my check book i need a new car.

  • 1:23 "Tap that"

  • All and all some good video work and important information... BTW when you pulled the left mount for the tranny, that nut is welded on and the bolt should be removed from the knock out under the left w well

  • Good Video on the tranny removal, I have a 2001 Neon vin C and have replaced the timing belt, iderler and water pump. this is not as bad as you think... make sure you have jack stands and a good hydr. jack

Question: Could you do a video on removal and replacement on the right and left CV ax shafts, including a three speed (th31) iI think... it has the longer spline at the tranny.

  • Im going to change the fuild and filter in a '98 buick park ave.The filter has no holes for screws or bolts .How do i remove and mount it? thanks for your help

  • @ironman1438 Use a long screwdriver pry the neck part of the filter out of the seal in the transmission then put the new seal on the new filter and pop it in place.

  • What a great video. Thanks for taking the time to make it.

  • @maison0blanche thank you

  • thank you for sharing

  • @richpin06a Great video! Thanks for taking the time to do it.

Do you (or anyone else) know how difficult it is to change the front seal? I have one that leaks approximately 1 drop per second at idle. Thanks.

  • @MrMilesLong1 What vehicle do you have

  • @richpin06a It's a 2000 Neon with a 3-speed automatic. The trans works great but leaks like crazy. Thanks!

  • Comment removed

  • did mine.. easy easy . I used a tree and a pulley to hold it up then dropped it and slid it out under the car!

  • Thank You very much! This video helped a lot I have the same car and I needed to replace my transmission. I followed the steps on this video and I was able to do it.

The hardest part was putting the new transmission in place.

  • you should do a alternator change on an aurora, its real fun! lol

  • @ipodtouchfan221 I have not done one what's it like.

  • @richpin06a it's in front right side almost next to the Ac compressor, radiator removal nesissary, changing it is not bad but serpentine belt replacement IS a 2 person job, there is absolutely NO room for large hands, I'm 17 and I had issues getting my hands in there to change it! Real fun lol

  • what mileage should i replace the timing belt for 2000 neon i lost the manual

  • @fenixans The manual says Camshaft timing belt: replace at 105,000 miles

  • @richpin06a i guess the forner owner of my car went over cuz its at 125,000 miles already

  • @fenixans If that is the case you need to change it immediately!

  • That's a big job for such a little car--especially the 1000 and 0ne brackets that hold that transmission to the engine.

  • Glad I opted for a Saturn. The Neon "Cab-Forward" stuff doesn't leave much room to work. Then again, Transmission work on any FWD car isn't much fun. I'll leave it for the Pro's (like Rich).

  • @samchungrrt You think that is bad stay tuned for my timing belt video on this car.

  • good, video, thanks.

  • In the grand scheme of things, would you say that this transmission swap was more or less difficult than average?

  • @themrfreeze07 I would say average or a touch more difficult because of the back getting by the crossmember.

  • On that pannel remover, is that a braze i see? :)

  • @campauchicken yes good old braze

  • that sounds like pain in the but 0-o

  • i am sure my poor tranny needs work but don;t have money :( i would like have the fluid oil replace but i heard it can cost alot

  • @crystalscan2002 around 100.

  • cheaper to scrap it and buy a saturn!

  • Oh Lord, do we need to send Rich to speech school to teach him how to say his "r's" correctly....

    Send donations to me.

  • That tranny fluid sure looked dirty

  • Good job Richpin

  • Very well made video! Do you go into what the problem was with the transmission in another video?

  • @sbakar When it comes to tearing apart a automatic transmission i will leave that to the professionals

  • Textbook instruction. Much appreciated

  • Great vid. How many miles did it have? My guess no one maintained the trans, or its just a typical Chrysler/Dodge product.

  • @studpuppy69 79,000 and this is the 3rd yes i said 3rd one

  • @richpin06a holy cow

  • @richpin06a Get rid of that car what a waste of time and effort, especially 79k miles. Al Bundy drove a Dodge, remember that when you buy one.

  • @studpuppy69 In other words, just a typical Dodge haha

  • A transmission removal in 10 minutes...Excellent video Mr. Richpin.!!
