@cherrybombchick666 the stitches don't fall out. they have to be removed by a vet or vet tech. A feral cat that comes in for stitches removal, x-rays, staple remover or anything that needs physical contact needs to be sedated for the safety of the cat and the humans involved.
Terrific video. I volunteer for an organization called "Forgotten Felines". They help people manage feral colonies, capture, spay and neuter, get a medical check, and return to the colonies. Kittens are captured, fostered for socialization, and adopted out. They also get adult cats in different ways. No cats have been killed. Number of cats in shelters in county: 1997:about 6,000; number in 2010: about 2,000. I love my job and admire you for your wonderful efforts.
Cats are listed in the TOP 100 WORST INVASIVE SPECIES OF THE WORLD, in the "Global Invasive Species Database". If your government enforces invasive species laws then it is against the law to NOT destroy cats when found away from safe confinement and out in non-native habitat. It is your civic and moral responsibility to do so, someone's pet or not. If you criminally irresponsible pet-owners want to keep your invasive-species pets, keep them confined properly. Releasing them violates these laws.
@WoodsGuy100 Do you have a clue how the bubonic spread? There was a war on feral cats that caused rats to overpopulate and spread fleas and the plague.
WRONG. That's a myth spread by psychotic cat-lovers. CATS ACTUALLY CARRY AND SPREAD THE PLAGUE, EVEN TODAY. People in the USA have even died in the last decade from plague transmitted by cats to humans.
Don't get me wrong. I'm all in favor of them being spade and neutered from overpopulated areas. They can be annoying when they are fighting and mating, but so are song birds. My solution is to trap, bait, and release cats in areas where rodents ar causing agricultural damage (gophers). We need more natural predators rather than use pesticides or expecting traps to work.
THERE ARE NO VACCINES for many of these, and are in fact listed as bio-terrorism agents: Campylobacter Infection, Cat Scratch Disease, Coxiella burnetti Infection (Q fever), Cryptosporidium Infection, Dipylidium Infection (tapeworm), Hookworm Infection, Leptospira Infection, Giardia, Plague, Rabies, Ringworm, Salmonella Infection, Toxocara Infection, Toxoplasma. [CDC, July 2010] Now including Sarcosporidiosis, Flea-borne Typhus, and Tularemia.
The general rule-of-thumb in the USA is that if your land is in an area zoned for livestock (e.g. you can keep chickens, etc.), then it is perfectly legal to destroy any animal, someone’s pet or not, that is threatening the safety of your own animals. The only animals exempt from you taking immediate action, legally, are those listed on endangered or threatened species lists. Since cats are listed as a highly destructive invasive-species it is your civic and moral duty to destroy them on sight.
Of course! It's such an important issue, my sister and I were happy to put our video productions skills to use to help get the word out. Thanks for watching, and for writing!

What about stitches from being spayed? Do they just fall out? How does the aftercare work when you get a feral cat spayed/neutered?

@cherrybombchick666 Hello! The stitches are internal and dissolvable, so there is no after care for the cats unless they have complications.

@cherrybombchick666
They give them stitches that dissolve once the wound heals, so no going back to get the stitches taken out. :)
