  • well Mad Kate, sort of shut down there for the winter, will go back in the spring, looking at going to 20 ft unless I hit water, will be looking at another spot/claim I have to run a drift in next early summer, see if I can pick up the old river channel, the cribbing is simular just different notching...

  • Eric, that's making a lot more sense now. You are adding half lapped timbers to the bottom and I take it the chunks cut from the logs that are round are used to tie the timbers together so they don't drop as you dig down further. That's cool.

    I'd like to know about how far down you expect to go on this shaft and are you expecting any horizontal drifting to happen? I'd like to know how you handle a tunnel/drift when you crib/brace.

  • Well thanks, still have a bunch more video to sort through, trying to show the methods I learnt over the years, and in the end did okay with the gold recovered per yard.

  • back in the day all that was done by Whip saw, and it's still dam hard work with a chain saw!!! you all are doing a darn fine job. Keep us posted, !!!
