  • she does look like Marilyn Monroe!! haha

  • Interesting to note that the first club Najwa applied to dance didn't want to hire her and said her one cross-eye was too distracting.

She's from Palestine and had to escape her homeland as she said her house was "blown up by Zionist gangs."

So glad she made it to Egypt and became a great dancer!

  • Exotic:)

  • OMG I love her moves!!!

  • good

  • Egyptians are the only ones who can dance to any music, this music is incredibly hard to dance to.

  • @monak2 - Actually she's doing many of the same moves over and over. The music isn't difficult to dance to but it is limiting - but beautiful music - is it from Mohammed Abdel Wahab?

Anyway Najwa became a much better dancer later in her career. Really liked her folkloric dancing.

  • @ColoradoDancer Any music can be difficult or easy to dance - depending on how good a dancer is. And I like her much, much more in her early years... It is debatable if she became a better dancer. But she became a different one for sure!

  • Does anyone know the name of the song, and the composer? Love it!

  • most well known (household names) are all egyptian....samia gamal, tahia carioca & niema akef in the old golden age (black/white movie) days....then suhair zaki, nagwa fouad & fifi abdo...right now its mostly dina & there arent any contemporaries with a much audience as dina..all these women had their unique style & portion of audience that favored more than other dancers...I remembe seeing all these women in old movie & contemporary movies

  • Amazing!!!

  • Sassy! Love it!

  • Oh Nagwa, you were never a good dancer. That smile of yours can scare the devil in his lair.

  • please, name of this artist, or song? thank you!!!

  • Beautiful!

  • tarik da milano molto bello questo film

  • amazing arm movements what a legend :)

  • Allah! So beautifull! THE BEST EVER!

  • she is just amazing. she flows like a feather!! just an incredible dancer. Too bad everydancer today has to bee so robotic and cold. Most dancers on you tube lack so much personality and they turned belly dance into something fast and mechanic. Too bad!

  • Right, these women had grace, class, charm, and the list goes on!!

  • Nagwa Fouad la amo :) <3 en una gran influencia para mi...ella y otras mas que contribuyeron con la evolucion de la danza :)

  • some one told me that najwa fuad is the god mother of belly danc in the arab world now days, because her experience in oriental dance is over 50 years.what a woman!!!

  • What they told you is correct. She is now a co-judge for a belly dancing competeion out of Lebanon called "hezzi ya nawaem" meaning "shake it smoothie"

  • Wonderful! She reminds me of Egyptian Marylan Monroe. I lv how szhe make moves look ez

  • ha!! I thought exactly the same...it's probably the skirt which made me think so...

  • ya habibiiiiii!!!

Nagwa Fouad is the best dancer ever!!! Love her!!!

  • She's wearing heels?? Wow, usually the bellydancers in heels (that I've seen anyway) are much more stiff than that. Now there's a dancer!

  • actually no, Nagwa Fouad is famous for 3 main things besides dancing so beautifully. Her hair flip over her face, her arms going all over the place & I mean that in a good way, really, & dancing barefoot, even here she's barefooted, look closely. a more famous belly dancer that danced in very high heals was keety. i've seen her here under katy and katie, but her name was pronounced keety. trust me on that, i've seen all those black and white movies since I was one. but absoultey beautiful.

  • wow i thought she would be just another overrated bellydancer but she is a true artist, she is one of the pioneers that developed bellydance as an artform. love her!

  • Excellent and shes real pretty ;)

  • THIS IS SO WONDERFUL AUTHENTIC DANCE,as you can see @2:20 she does an intricate manuver involving her abdomen [for those that want to see]she is the creme de la creme.Thank you for posting.

  • This was when dancers expressed/danced with/on the music. now days dancers just robot "to" the music. No care to the feel or real meaning of the music. Just " do I look hot?" Not dancing just posing

  • yeah ur right n nagwa fouad is a great arabian bellydancer

  • I was very amused to Ismail Yassin and also the other actress, with the ribbon on her head, I think her name was Zenab; I'm probably wrong. These are the real belly dancers. Brings memories.

  • mth23 actually nagwa fouad is very talented and varied, look up more of her stuff. its quite ironic u think that cos she is actually a particularly energetic dancer, just not so much here.. plus dont forget she is dancing up and down a narrow strip with a slowish piece :)

  • Looks to me like she's dancing with her entire body including her "belly". I think it's unfortunate that more dancers don't dance like this. Maybe contemporary dancers think it's "unsexy" and old fashioned; on the contrary, I think she is very flirtacious, strong and confidant. Who needs all that westerized "bellydance" schtick after watching this or any of the dancers from this era for that matter??

  • Amen!!

  • I don`t agree dont let their "bellydacebodies" alike fool you I don`t know what so special with theese dancers they are just spinning around a little but they don`t even dance with their bellys? I don`t call that a bellydance.

  • Wow!!! Young sweet Nagwa :-) It is so interesting to see this old video clip. She has always been a great dancer!

  • This Najwa clips is so different from her in the 70's its hard for me to reconcile the two.

  • @bellybunny --what year is this from ?

  • @bellybunny

Yes, the influence of Tahia Carioka and Samia Gamal was very powerful. Just like Dina's and Randa's style dominate the oriental dance today. Love & Light

  • @bellybunny I just saw this video in Belly Dance Class and thought the same.

  • Why don't more dancers perform the classical Egyptian style anymore. This is sooooo much better than the stuff we see today. The women of the Golden Era, really were great pioneers of the dance;)
